  1. Wiley X. I paid $250 shipped. UV protection, ANSI rated, scratch resistant (optional) super light weight and comfortable. And i have the same exact pair without prescription that fits and feels exactly the same. They are a little pricey if you buy them off sale, or start adding on different feautures. But worth it 100%. Most fishing glasses wont hold up to a heavy lure coming back at it fast, Wiley X will. Something to think about. Look into the testing they do. I use the same ones as @padlin. Omegas for prescription, as well as Omega Jacob Wheelers for fishing. That color scheme lets me see in the night/indoors too.
  2. They have a slow float, and a suspending one. Have you tried Rapala Originals? Very good for shallow water or keeping it high in the water colum. Plus since they arent new or trendy (backed behind social media hype) no one uses them anymore. Dirt cheap too. There have been some people who had them sink like a rock, and broken off bills. But most of them were older models. Still can happen to recent bought ones since they may be old stock, but if anything happens 6th Sense is usually good at making it right. The good reviews (which is alot) praise these jerkbaits. And besides Megabass 110's get far more bad reviews, and come out of the box needing work much more. Guys still pay $20 for them. So for the $5 you paid you got them for a steal! I checked my Walmart last night but they were $12.50😌
  3. Finally another AGM user. I dont like lead acids since they ruined most of the C5 Corvettes ive been looking at (leaked acid right down on the electronics, but this is more a GM design flaw). Found out about AGM batteries because of it actually from the forums i joined for the C5. Liked everything ive seen and read so far, currently using lead acids in the boat but am thinking about switching. Absolutely hate anything lithium. These things are so volatile, anyone remember the Tesla that took over 20 hours to put out? Lithium and water dont mix or react very well to each other either, ill happily pay more upfront for my safety (which for acid and lithium i consider the opposite).
  4. Theres not enough marketing firms in the world to hype this up, unless Nishine sells it to (enter joke) 6th Sense or Googan😂 It looks interesting though, has a lot happening all at once. Its got a goby head, leech body, underspin blade, and a jerkbait bill? And going off of Nishines prices im guessing somewhere between $8-10 each, without the ability to change trailer, and what looks to be a very small size more oriented to panfish like crappie? Its a cool unique looking thing, but same here.
  5. I wouldnt touch anyone elses garbage, especially with all the drug addicts leaving trace amounts of fentanyl on things. And in PA theres alot of really interesting looking people walking past you on the bank trail on your way out right when the place closes for the day to go "fishing", interesting enough they never have any rods. Same guys usually are the ones setting fires all across the bank and leaving beer cans all over. This is my experience with fishing just 1 reservoir in particular. They had to close down access to the other side of this place years ago because these people were taking trucks and cars back and dumping garbage bags, mattresses, other junk. Now we are only allowed to fish a very small amount of this 100' deep clear reservoir. And its bank only, so 20% access is all thats left. However the same guys keep coming back, dump there trash all along the bank. between that and the 2 guys who died ice fishing there last year when there was barely even any ice (which is not allowed) there have been talks about this whole place getting shut down😌 Then the other smaller lake across from it a half mile is another story, this area of PA gets a lot of "visitors" from our neighboring states. Well there was a group from each state here, chucking there small dog into the water over and over again, not tossing, full on throwing that thing out there like it was a sport, then they started breaking branches off a tree and tried to start a fire on the boat launch. Yes on the boat launch. After an hour they started fighting and they threatened to shoot each other. They left a bunch of garbage from both cars at the boat launch too. Now the guys that fish bass and panfish around here usually pretty good at cleaning up there garbage (except the stocked trout guys, you can expect Powerbait bottles all along the bank during the spring). However most of these guys feel the need to cut 100' of line off anytime they get stuck. I take all my garbage home to throw away, except the pickerel. I throw that back in the water!
  6. Only 4 things will do that. #1 jerkbaits, #2 certain glidebaits, #3 soft plastic jerkbaits/flukes, #4 walking top waters. A jig itself will just come straight back, or go down and up if you yo yo them. Closest thing you will get is a swim jig paired with the right trailer, but that will a very different action than what you are looking for. You might be able to use a very light finesse jig (with a skirt) and try adding a fluke as a trailer, but even that will reduce its ability to twitch left and right. A skirted jig no matter its design wont twitch left or right to that amount, even with the right trailer. Since the weight of it will again reduce most of its action if not all of it. Your best best if you really want something with a skirt that twitches left and right is to look at a skirted neko rig, its a nail weight with a skirt. Put that in the front of a fluke (which like it or not is the best twitching bait aside from a jerkbait for fishing underwater).
  7. Update. I bought the 7'3" MH F last night instead, was going to get the 7' since the ratings were much higher and more aligned with what i throw most. But as soon as i seen the split grip i ran towards the 7'3". The ratings arent very high (tops out at 5/8) but it should make for a great football jig and Texas rig rod for the lighter weights i throw when im not fishing deeper areas. And if it starts getting overloaded with heavier trailers i already know i would love it for my lipless cranks. Since it had some marks on it from the new rod holders they got in store i tried to get a few bucks knocked off but from it being on clearance already for such a low price, paired with my $20 off coupon they couldnt do it. Still got it for a smoking deal though so im not upset about the little amount of what some guys call boat rash. My first store had 0 in stock for either reel, 2nd one had 1 2500 left in stock. Got it for $55. Im betting the employee i was talking to for a half an hour picked up the last 3000 they had too. He told me he only works there to pay for his fishing addiction and goes around scanning items constantly to see whats on sale. Mans playing the ultimate game of chess, and they are paying him for it.
  8. Ball head jig (around 1/16-1/8 for best rate of fall without sinking to the bottom immediately) paired with a soft plastic jerkbait. Fish it just like you would a jerkbait.
  9. Midway has a bunch to view, but all are out of stock and say discontinued.... Sad, i liked fishing the Diggers. Ollies sometimes has these among with other Berkley cranks, so if you have one near you it might be worth a look. But the first place you mentioned you can find them ive gotten a bunch from over the years for cheap.
  10. My experience with Berkley hooks is they arent very sharp, nor are they super sticky as there marketing team likes to call them. When i got some Gamakatsu hooks i was blown away, but i keep buying Berkleys because they are my #1 confidence hook when it comes to holding up for big bass. Now 6th Sense hooks are sticky, i barely gripped a new lure the other day and almost got hooked on bass fishing even more😂 But for your question the 6" is a size 1, 8" is 2/0. Source is BPS
  11. When i got into bass fishing i was not very good. I would walk the bank 4-6 hours a day and catch nothing. I had no clue what i was doing and didnt know about this place then, so there was very little advice and information to go off of.... My first real bass (over 1.5lbs) was caught on a ned rig, i hadnt ever caught anything on these before and was beyond excited! I saw the fish 1' under the front of the boat and it jumped and there it went.... Ive lost several fish since then (variety of species), including some big ones😌 But every bass ive lost was 100% user error, i dont dwell on losing them. I use it to my advantage and learn as much as i can about preventing it going forward. Making gear changes, bringing them in a different way, etc.... Learning from what went wrong. So far it seems to be working. Although years ago something big bit my dads jerkbait he was using when we were trolling back when we first got the boat, it was huge and jumped once. Line snapped clean. Always wondered what it was, im thinking a big trout since it was brown in a largemouth only bass lake.
  12. Anymore there sales have been in store only for the most part, and never trust there website for if a store is stocked or out of stock. Its all lies. There own employees admitted as much yesterday to me. Go in store, ask someone in the fishing section to take a look in the back or scan it with their scanner, its accurate unlike the website. I found several Custom Pro Rods that were out of stock in both stores, in both stores.
  13. The website isnt great, the app is the best way. However if using website only try this. go into search on DSG, type in what you want but dont hit search. It will pop up. If you hit search nothing will show. Take a screenshot and go to your local store and see if theres any left in stock.
  14. DSG at it again this week, $50 Shimano SLX XT casting reels. $100 Shimano Vanford spinning reels. $140 Shimano Poison Adrena casting rod. $75 Shimano Zodias Glass casting rod. $20 Shimano Sedona spinning reel. $35 13 Fishing Inception G2 casting reel. $40 13 Fishing Meta/Meta cranking rods. Went to 2 stores, non were in stock😌 Sierra (company owned by Tj Maxx and Marshalls) has a RH 6 speed Tatula 150 for $110 too.
  15. $80 and 90, paired with a 10% off coupon. Very good advice, thank you.
  16. Not to hijack the thread, but is the Monaghan show worth going to? I was looking into going but when seeing pictures of it in the past years it just looked more like a flea market of older rods/reels, and lures too. Than a show.
  17. Since DSG is blowing out their old stock of discontinued rods and reels i went to look at some Team Lews Custom Pro casting rods today, one is the 7' MH F and the other 7' M Moderate-Fast. I tried here, youtube, reddit, and more but theres not many reviews or talk about these rods (aside from a few replies from years ago or sponsored 2 minutes videos). There were some old reviews about the guides flattening, but anything in recent years seems to be praising these rods. But thats on TW and Lews site, so who knows what true or not. I love the look of them, the handles look/feel amazing, and the weight of them is like holding a paper towel, the 5 year warranty is nice too. Im going tomorrow to get one or both but was just looking for any advice thats not 5 years old, or by a paid Lews staffer if im making a mistake or not. The material is an X5 Graphite blank, for what little i know its very light and sensitive.
  18. Buying something only because someone on youtube promotes it is insane. Every hand is different, the amount of reels i have that dont fit my hands, or dont fit comfortably is unreal. And theres been a few rods whose handles felt awful as well. And then theres the amount of times i thought i would absolutely love a rod or reel ive bought online just to be underwhelmed when i saw it in person. Is youtube advice good? Absolutely, but take everything with a grain of salt since what that person might love you might not. I just check reviews like its my job, watch a few videos, go here or reddit for further research. But even that isnt a guarantee, ive bought a few things online using this method and have been disappointed with the rod or reel i bought. Even when others claimed they were the worlds best reels, and everybody loved theirs. Going to a store and checking the rod or reel out is the most important thing.
  19. Was it a code? or Just a one day event? Im a gold member and they didnt send me any emails or texts about extra savings on clearance😌 I dont think they like me anymore since i got a lot of items from them for practically pennies.... Anyways enjoy your new reels!
  20. My store puts up 0 signs anymore😌. Ill have to go in later and have someone scan a few items, but it sounded like the OP of that comment ordered online.
  21. Sorry shouldve quoted less of the post, im asking about the extra 50% off clearance. Cant find it anywhere on the site, and when adding clearance items to the cart the price stays the same. I have a few stores that i know have the Tatula SV in stock however, but not sure what i would present the cashiers with to get the deal? Tried the app too, dont see anything about it.
  22. Where did you find this? Checked the website and cant see it
  23. All my big ones came from the bank too, except for my PB smallmouth, the boat takes that win. Makes total sense fishing the giant bodies of water you do, it would probably take a week or 2 just to walk around them. And im guessing they are pretty deep too? Would definitely want that boat out there. This is the case for alot of people i know, and was me for most of my life. Because of my years fishing that way it gave me the utmost respect for guys limited to the bank only. Goodluck to you come ice out, hope you catch some nice bass! Any fishing videos ive seen from NJ seem to be word for word with what you wrote, that would make fishing on anything other than a boat/kayak very difficult. I couldnt imagine walking 45 minutes to get bit off by a pickerel on the first cast either. Northeast PA has a lot of places like that too, its amazing fish can grow so much in a smaller body of water.
  24. Get pegboard, put it up against that wall. This will store a lot of soft plastics, lures, terminal tackle still in packaging. Theres also bins that will attach to peg board too, will help store odd items. And youll still have those 2 racks/shelves attached to the wall, put a long but not too high single drawer across each one. Stack anything larger on top of them. For line, take a wooden dowel, or even something made of metal thats similar diameter, and slide the spools of line through it like a kabob, find a way to make a quick release method (for changing empty ones) that would let you hang it to the bottom of the 3rd rack on the wall. The bottom area next to coolers would be good for throwing tackle storage bags, and stacking trays.
  25. Man, back when music was music. What ever happened, and how did we get here. If i had some records id be blasting Metallica, ACDC, Ozzy, Sabbath, maybe some Dokken, Whitesnake, Cinderella, Van Halen just to check out how it was back then. I had most on repeat today and tonight on Spotify but it just feels like somethings missing. Help a fella out and make sure to play some No Sleep Till Brooklyn for me.
