Battery acid vs Tracker boat
Was there other water in the hull that may have diluted the acid ?? While it sounds scary, there is not that much acid in a battery, so if there was any other water in there it may not be to bad... Not fun, but gotta get stuff out of way to see !! This winter I am replacing the fuel line from built in tank to the outboard....gotta remove the live well and rear decking just to disconnect line from tank fitting !!

Minn Kota Endura C2 30Lb Thrust Need Faster Prop With Less Torque...
No experience here, but just from reading in my own research, the airplane props worked best on light loads like kayaks. Not as sucessfull on heavier boats. But for the low cost, might be worth a try....

Minn Kota Endura C2 30Lb Thrust Need Faster Prop With Less Torque...
On my MK 12v 55# thrust bow mount, I don't fish weeds at all. Based on MK factory recomendations, I switched to a non weedless prop for mine and is supposed to give another .5 mph or so but better thrust. By the time the prop arrived, so did winter, so will see this spring when the weather breaks. However, I did do some measuring and the power prop does have a little greater pitch than the weedless so I am hopefull !!

Safety boating topic. About a engine not restarting in desolate areas.
That would be common, logical thinking, not sure how many we have left on this earth that can do that !!

Boat cover fabric question
I had a cover made from that stuff some years back, great cover, no issues and it was waterproof. Haven't heard that name in a while....

Boat cover fabric question
Go look at a semi truck tarp maker, they can also make boat covers ( mooring type covers not bimini tops), that material may well last a lifetime !! Mine is over 10 years old and still like new, just dirty. And it has been trailered, wind blown, snowed on, hot sun, you name it....tough stuff...but it is heavy..

Boat bunk replacement
Whew....a thousand bucks ?? You could convert to rollers for less and never have to replace them again. On my last conversion, I bought used roller sets off market place, less than 200 for all of them in great condition to...your call.....

Safety boating topic. About a engine not restarting in desolate areas.
Good maintenence might be the best answer to everything. I also carry 4 batteries and check them before leaving, no chance they will all be dead. Carry jumper cables also. The local farmers made there own fuel station and properly maintain the system and I only buy boat fuel from them, so no fuel issues there. Never leave the dock without a kicker/ auxilliary motor as a backup. Each spring check electrical connections and clean and tighten where needed. Always check air pressure and grease before leaving my barn. With all that, still had an electrical short last year, wire rubbed on a ground screw and tripped fuse. The wear spot was the size of a mosquito head, that was fun to find that one !! Reduce your chances of problems by doing thorough maintenence !!

Boat under 20’ storage length
Your best option might be to build a pole barn or add on to your garage !!

Heck if they are gonna pay for my lunch, it was prime rib !!

Boat cover fabric question
Best option is to visit a quality custom boat cover maker and look at the fabrics. They will explain the differences between them all, then you can choose which ever. Remember, many over the counter covers are made frim Chineseum materials which may not meet US definitions.. I use semi truck tarp companies with their material....10 years and still looks like new and 100% waterproof still today

I have a small kicker motor and an electric trolling motor. Yes, the little kicker has had to bring me back on a couple ocassions. Wouldn't leave the dock without some kind of backup power. In reality, I have less costs in my kicker motor than a single tow would have cost, so money ahead !!

Boat bunk replacement
Today's " treated" lumber is a joke, I wouldn't waste the money on it. Becarefull with treated around aluminum as it has been known to cause corrosion. How easy do you want your boat to slide off ? That will determine the covering on the bunks. On my trailer, I spent the money and went with roller bunks and won't live long enough to worry about replacements. Do your research.......

Nonboater's Equipment Covered by Boater's Insurance?
As long as their value exceeds a certain amount. You cannot remove a persons means of surviving. Clothes off you back, basic roof over your head or basic means of transportation.. Probably while he lives off grid.....nothing to sue for !! Criminal liability might be the best bet....but in all probability will have to use their own insurance !! Uninsured motorist coverage is there for a reason !!

Nonboater's Equipment Covered by Boater's Insurance?
I understand that the boat that caused the accident did not have insurance, so there would be no coverage. The boat that was damaged was insured but the ins comppany won't cover the guests equipment as it is not listed in the policy. So...the non boater will have to rely on his own personal insurance to cover his losses, thus the civil suit. Correct me if I read this wrong. I have toys myself and carry insurance on my own personal stuff just in case !!
-
Nonboater's Equipment Covered by Boater's Insurance?
If the non boater has his own home insurance he can file a claim with his own ins. An accident report is needed and proof of loss. But...like any claim...will it raise your rates ?? And will filing a claim be worthwhile ? Most polocies have a 500 dollar or more deductable... Hopefully they filed a civil suit against the uninsured boater !!

The boat market is crashing
As my banker showed me, on the application for a second mortgage, what isvthe money being used for. A/C and heating upgrades, insulation and upgraded windows are all legitiment reasons for interest deductable investments. I highly doubt the IRS will be boring holes in your walls to see if your insulation has been upgraded ! The gov't pulls the wool over my eyes most everyday, returning the favor is something I would not loose any sleep over.

Creative ways to charge your boat without shore power
They don't handle heat devises very well, not sure about operating a battery charger. Have a small plugin the cigarette lighter socket unit thatbhas worked for 20 years, but it charges a phone or runs my aerator for my minnow bucket. Those little battery operated air pumps are useless, bought a cheap aquarium air pump for 5 bucks then plug into cheap invertor, makes lots of bubbles and held up for 20 years. Just not sure about handling a battery charger

Creative ways to charge your boat without shore power
You can't get some help from your inlaws ?? I would think if they own the camp, they could help you out...even if it was just a really long extension cord !!

Creative ways to charge your boat without shore power
In all honesty, wouldn't it be easier to find another place to store your boat ?? When we had our motorhome we never had an issue when we ask to spend a night at a gas station or carryout store so we could plug in to recharge our batteries, we usually offered 5 or 10 dollars to cover the electricity, but most often they never took it.

Can't believe the fishing show I just watched !!
Boring winter has me watching fishing shows on TV. Just watched one on fishing the canals in southern Florida. They were catching snakehead fish !! While fishing they were telling the audience how bad they were for the ecosystem, and how bad they were for all the sport fish...in other words, there was nothing good about them !! Then I watched them throw them all back in !! Unbelievable....why would anyone throw back invasive fish ? Here in Ohio we can get fined for throwing them back !! No wonder we can't get rid of these invasive animals !!

Who do you insure your boat and tackle through?
I use Auto-Owners for home, cars and boat thru home ins. My boat value is only 5K plus acessories, each at a set value. General fishing gear coverage is 1K which woukd cover all my gear, then electronics at 1500 for trolling and gps. If I had a 50K fancy bass boat, I would look elsewhere, but for my small aluminum hull SC it works. Key thing is to make sure you have salvage and epa coverage in case it would sink. Many companies may not cover that part !!

The boat market is crashing
Yes, shiukd hace ststed line of credit rather than home equity. My bank is constantly bugging me to take out a line of credit to buy toys. According to them the interest is deductable !!
