Saltwater board
On the shore here in Boca there are thousands of small mullet that swim through, literally 5 feet from the shore in what we call "the trough". Big snook, tarpon, and sharks feed on these, and it is a sight to behold. Many people throw yo-zuri mag minnows, spoons and other lures in hopes to catch a tarpon or snook. The bite on the beach can be amazing. there are also small cudas, jacks, pompano, and other less common species. There does not have to be a huge school of bait around to see big snook either. I was at the beach yesterday and saw three big ones swim by together; I was not fishing at the time.

The question is who else from the forum do you fish with, or have the south florida guys gotten together and fished? I'm wondering if we can all get together and do some shore fishing or something

South Florida guys
I was wondering if the SoFla guys on this forum ever get together and fish. It would be cool to get something going, maybe a little shore fishing?

S Fla Shrimp Runs
Do you know the inlet in Boca Raton at Camino? Lately I have seen a bunch of shrimpers there. A lot use spotlights or just powerful flashlights. Only thing is, shrimping is a very meticulous activity; they simply see an individual shrimp, net it and throw it in the cooler, one at a time. I have never been interested enough to do it.

Florida inshore bite
That is a great report. No snook in two days of fishing, but two medium barracudas. That is an interesting lure there. Is it supposed to be fished like a jerkbait?

Couple more today (12-31-08)
I caught my 1st bass on an ABU when I was about 5 or 6 yrs old. In fact, I learned how to fish using that ABU. No push button or soinning reels. BUT, the reel in my picture is NOT an ABU. It is a Calcutta TE100DC.. my mistake man but you can see why I would think that. We need to fish together sometime PM me I will give you my phone #

Dropshotting my way
Do you watch it to detect bites like the pros in lake Michigan and what-not, or do you have enough feel with the braid? also, do you you think dropshotting with a really light dropshot weight over a huge hydrilla infested area would work? I could treat the top of hydrilla as if it is the bottom, and tie the worm closer to the weight (maybe 5 inches?). You have a way better sense of dropshotting, so do you see this idea potentially working out? It is the only way I could dropshot on FL. Let me know what you think, and great post, this will be a huge help for everyone who fishes "dropshottable" lakes. Oh one more thing, how far do you cast out from the boat? Is it better to keep you casts in closer to keep the bait and weight more vertical, or can you cast it way out and work it in? thanks fourbizz dude for taking the time to write this
