  1. I'm thinking that it would change the sound and vibration, thus offering something unseen to the bass.
  2. This is pretty interesting. It's expensive at $30. But, it might offer the bass something they haven't ever seen before. Anyone ever fish one of these? Thoughts? https://tornadoinnovation.com/store/ols/products/clear-spinnerbait-ghost-minnow

Thanks. I've been wanting to check out the OG series.
  4. Glad you're back having the fun (dry) type of day.

I agree. I agree that when bass aren't pressured, line makes no difference to them.
  6. Okay, well, the trolling motor has been in the car since last winter sometime, so it's endured some heat so far. I will pull it out and find another spot for it. Other than rain and rinsing it off in the rain barrel, it's never been in the water.

I have better success normally by tying the hooks, which reduces the noise and changes the vibration at my local spot. I also prefer a silent model, but they are harder to find in store.
  8. That KVD 1.5 squarebills are silent. I took the hooks off to tie them with soft split rings, and I went to check the sound, and silent. I haven't fished them a bunch, but I never realized that. I most often use H20X squrebills, but knowing that the KVD is silent, it'll get a lot more time at the end of my line.
  9. I'll take steak, any cut, over pork. Baked potato with cheese brocolli or fried potatoes with onions.

Thanks. There isn't a whole lot of places around here that I fish that have tons of smallmouth. I'll have to see how they do for largemouth, and try them on the couple rivers around here that have smallmouth.
  11. Thanks for sharing all. I wouldn't run braid exlusively, but but it will definitly be an option for this rod if I pick it up.
  12. Thanks for sharing. Welcome to the forum.
  13. No sir. For quite a while I had a BPS Pro Qualifier 2 on the Black Max rod, but have went back to the Black Max reel for now.
  14. I didn't know that. I guess I'm the only one that doesn't have a Tatula.
  15. I use a regular sized normal frog with silicone skirt material for legs, and the smaller Lunker Hunt Pocket Frog with molded legs. I've noticied that with the ponds I fish, there is a lot of smaller fish that will get the frog, but not the hook, they grab the legs, and if I set the hook immediately, they rip a leg off with the pocket frog, or in the case of a frog with silicone skirt material, they don't get the hook. If I suspect it's smaller fish, and I still want to catch them, then I wait a second or two before setting the hook. I've caught rock bass on the pocket frog before! I almost never fish a popping frog. I normally fish an H20X brand frog, just because that's what I happen to have. If they are hitting frogs, any frog will work, and if they aren't hitting frogs, then they will turn down any frog regardless of features or price. If there is any open water at all, I will follow up a frog with a weightless fluke, and often they commit to that if they are unsure about the frog.
  16. That's neat, I didn't know anything like that ever existed. The website is still up, so I assume they are still making them? It too me a minute to realize it was an old thread. Howdy and welcome @Ron M!
  17. I agree on both accounts. I have noticed that buzzbaits are just about the hardest lures to throw also.
  18. I'm beginning the journey. I have my heavy rod loaded with 20 pound braid, the heaviest I have. I have some 1/2 lead bullet weights, and I purchased some 3/0 Eagle Claw flipping hooks. We'll see how it goes with the thin stuff I have in mind.
  19. In this video, there was mention made of bass being shallow, the indication was that it was because it was windy. Do bass tend to go shallower with wind? If not, what do they do, if anything, differently when it's windy?
  20. I say, learn to skip with a jig. I am still learning, and I'm using jigs, brush hogs, and flukes because those are the lures I am going to use when I become proficient at skipping. What has helped me is watching some videos about skipping, and noticing the subtle body, wrist, and rod motions of those skipping. I also turn my magnetic brake all the way up which helps a lot. Then backing it off a little and you start getting a feel for it. After a bit, you start getting it. Yesterday I was fishing, and I needed to skip, I didn't adjust my brakes, I didn't think about it, I just skipped right under a bridge with no backlash. I wish I could it all the time.
  21. Pretty good shot.
  22. I've not seen too many days that I couldn't get bit on either a baby brush hog texas rig or a weightless fluke worked around some type of cover or some shallow structure.
  23. Okay, I'll have to find another spot for it. Thanks. Is the cold an issue for it?
  24. No transducer. I'm scopeless at the moment. I had not thought of asking Minnkota, thanks.
