Fishing with Spectacles
I've actually worn glasses for about... uhm, 30 years. And I've dealt with the issues associated with them to varying degrees of everything from ignoring the problem to taking them off until I can clean them at a later time. I do carpentry, so sawdust is my biggest issue, but dry sawdust is easily wiped away without smudges. I guess I should have included another detail in my initial post, the problem is not when it's 70 degrees outside, rather, when its 90 and I sweat profusely. My shirt is not available for wiping. I actually just had a thought though, to perhaps carry a wiping cloth with me. So talking about it has given me a new direction to go. Thanks.

Jig head color?
I'm thinking about getting some jigs from Siebert at some point, and with his options, I'm thinking about getting some of them with a red head. I've heard that a red head is great for a swimbait, but how about for just a regular jig for dragging the bottom? Any other color that I should consider outside of the standard black, brown, and green pumpkin?

Living Rubber Spinnerbait Skirts
I have one that is living rubber, I think. Round rubber material for the skirts. All the rest are silicone strips, the standard type. If I was going to buy a few spinnerbait skirts and I had the choice, what would be the advantages or disadvantages of the living rubber?

What to do with wet lures?
Never seen anything like that. Found them. Plano Hydro flo series. Those are nifty. definitely be the stuff for a boat.

Spinnerbait Blade Swivels
I've got a handful of spinnerbaits, some with ball bearing swivels, and some with cheap swivels. Other than not spinning as nicely when spun out of water, is there any difference in the water? I can't tell a difference just by looking when testing them close to shore, but perhaps I don't know what to look for.

Fishing with Spectacles
I wear spectacles, and I find that it's often annoying when trying to fish. I have fish splash and put drops of water on my spectacles, and I have them fog up when it's muggy outside. I deal with the water drops by either ignoring them or wiping them with my shirt, and thus smearing my lenses. I deal with the fog by either taking my spectacles off and being blind or by using Zeiss anti-fog spray, when I remember it. Anyone else have spectacle issues whilest fishing?

Help ID these forceps
That's it, thanks. We found the Wright & McGill brand, and my wife originally thought it was that, but we couldn't find the W&M logo nor forceps branded with them. I found a pair on ebay after your suggestion. Thanks

Lews Hank Parker Rod?
I forgot, that I did throw a weightless waky rig with a Creme stick worm without issues on the rod yesterday. Not sure if that's lighter than the 1/8oz baby brush hog, but I think so.

Help ID these forceps
I found these, and I haven't been able to ID the brand. My wife took the challenge and searched for an hour and couldn't figure it out either. They'd been there a while, and are still free, despite a bit of rust in the joint. A few drops of oil and they are good as new.

lol, yep. I got a good one for you. My wife and I, and the boy, were all in the grocery store. There was this older man there, maybe 75, that started talking to me. First this and that. Well his wife, seeing that her husband was jawing, commenced to browse around the immediate area. She had that "we'll be standing here talking forever" look on her face. So we chat a minute, and during the course of our conversation the gent looks at little John and asks "Are you going to have a beard like daddy?" To which I replied "Little John, would you like to have a beard like daddy's or would you rather have a mustache like mommy's?" The gentleman's wife had been listening, and she looked up from her browsing and had a good couple of chuckles. We all had a laugh.

Couple of days here, we went to the river the other day but the water was like chocolate milk. Didn't have any takers that day, but had a fun hour or so. --------------------------- Wednesday bible study fishing trip -------------- Went early yesterday morning with a friend to the local reservoir. He was not too impressed with this slop on top of the water, and was suggesting we go elsewhere when I caught this little guy out of it. I set the hook a bit hard and jerked the fish a good bit, slinging some of the slop on my buddy. Found these forceps. Lost my bladed jig immediately after this picture. Plus had another small one and a 3 pounder that didn't get pics. ---------------------- Changed locations to show my buddy a pond he was unware of. First cast got this nice one. I got this out of the slop on 8 pound line and a M/M rod. Proud of that. We had a great time. One of the rare times I go without my boy.

Spinnerbait storage
Yeah, I can't stand rusty hooks. I had an instance where my gear rusted, thoug not bad. I didn't lose anything, but I spend a couple hours cleaning things up and drying everything out. I'd much rather just deal with it a few minutes as needed.

What to do with wet lures?
This came up in my spinnerbait box question. I want to know how everyone else deals with a wet lure, or lures, while on the water. First, I am primarily a bank fisherman. When I do fish from a boat is a pond boat, so I pretty much do the same thing. When I have a wet lure, be it a roostertail, a crankbait, a spinnerbait, doesn't matter, what I do is one of 3 things. First, I take it off and lay it next to or on my bag to dry, if I'm not moving down the shore. When it dries, then it goes back into the appropriate spot in my bag or the hard box contained therein. Second, if I'm moving down the shore, I will sometimes dangle the lure from the bag, depending on the lure and how likely it is that I'll snag it on myself or lose it. Third, I put the lure in the compartment with my soft plastics bags. Crankbaits, spinnerbaits, whatever, I put it between a couple bags of soft plastics as temporary place until I get back to the car where I can lay the lure out to dry. Sometimes I forget to lay the lures out and they dry between the soft plastic bags, but they still don't rust. What I rarely will do, is throw a wet lure back in the plastic box. This causes all the lures to rust if not attended to. The only time I do this is if it's raining and the box is getting wet anyways. In which case, I will open the box and let it dry when I get to the car. If it isn't going to dry effectively in the car, such as during winter, then I bring it inside and dry it in the house. Now, I am only bank fishing for a few hours at a time, mostly, so I don't have a dozen lures that get wet, but I'd love to hear what others do both from the boat and and the bank to deal with wet lures.

Spinnerbait storage
Thanks. I actually almost never place wet baits back in my box/bag. I either, let it dry while I'm fishing, or I place it in a special part, and put it to dry in the car when I'm done. If it's raining or otherwise my gear is wet I dry everything.

The only thing I've seen is the squre box made for spinnerbaits. What is everyone using?

Lews Hank Parker Rod?
I easily throw texas rigs consisting of 10 pound Big Game line, 1/8oz bullet weight, 2/0 round bend hook, and a baby brush hog. I've used slightly lighter plastic in the form a Zoom U-tail, and noticed it, but it was still within the weight range. It isn't as limber as my M/M Abu Black Max rod, but likewise, it has a lot more backbone.

Going away? I haven't heard about that.

Howdy and welcome! Baitcasting is fun man. Even now I cast in the yard to get better. Turn the brakes up, put a bit of spool tension on, and you'll have the hang of it in no time. And don't sweat having a minor backlash. Having a dozen loops of line around the spool is nothing, and everyone does that from time to time. Just put some tension on the spool with your thumb and strip line off with your other hand until you have all the loose line off. Make sure you get it all, even a minor tiny loop will cause a backlash to go from not too bad to horrible. Birdsnests suck, but a little practice can even get them cleared up pretty speedily. Don't sweat it. Trilene Big Game mono is your friend.

Lews Hank Parker Rod?
I did pick up the 6'10" Hank Parker rod. I've mostly used it for texas rigs, and it excels at that. I can really set the hook in comparison to the M/M rod I was using. It casts very easy and accurately. It does good with both an overhand and a roll cast. I've even skipped a few here and there with it. I'm still learning skipping though. Overall I couldn't be happier with it. I haven't retired my Abu Black Max M/M though, but it's mostly playing second fiddle for things like topwater and crankbaits now, while the Hank Parker rod is normally the start of the show, since I fish a texas rig a lot. I've done a bit of light jig fishing as well, and it's done well there too. Though I haven't done much, or with any large jigs or large fish yet. I did catch a 3 pounder today on a texas rig and it handled that size of fish with ease.

BREAKING!! Shaw Grigsby Announces Retirement from Professional Fishing

Thank you for elaborating.- BREAKING!! Shaw Grigsby Announces Retirement from Professional Fishing
Wow, he's been there a long time. That even hurt to watch. Thanks for sharing.- Am I the only one….
I've not had any success with them yet. I've a couple strikes on them, but none hooking up. I've never bought one. I've found about 8 or so in the course of the last couple of years. I currently have a couple, including a choppo. I like the choppo better, I think it gives a bit less line twist. - Eagle Claw Trokar
