The latest sale thread
Eh warranties can be odd, I sent an email to Dobyns and asked the question. Will post back when I get a response.

Not giving me the coupon, bummer. The one thing to note is that these are being sold by Amazon and not Dobyns, not sure what that means in regards to warranty but something to think about.

T-rig with a beaver/creature or ??? Im pretty close to the 1ft visibility level

Whats your favorite LMB search lure...
Fished the bigger of the 2 lakes, pretty heavy stained but the bigger pockets are warming up maybe because of the stained water, maybe 1ft visibility. I fished a lot of moving baits but when I went back into this one cove I saw the water temps were mid to upper 60's and think that I should have been throwing something else. If the water is stained will a wacky rig still work or is there something better to throw when you cannot see a bed etc. I think I should have been throwing a t-rig creature, jig and maybe the wacky but wasn't sure what would be best in heavy stained water.

Shimano baitcasters deep clean questions
Thanks this helps a lot, really appreciate you taking the time to write this up. This is what I was going by @Delaware Valley Tackle he made a post and stated "Tsi321 on spool bearings, AR, 80-140 gear oil on frame bearings, sliding parts and level wind, marine grease on main gear, spring washers for drag tension, drag grease on drag washers. " Being such a newb to the internals components and what they are this helps, I think I need to find some diagram that calls everything out. The schematics just reference all bearings as bearings, lol. I ended up tearing one reel all the way down and used dawn and cleaned everything. Dawn doesn't appear to be the best but was still able to clean things. I bought a cheap ultra sonic cleaner for the bearings and that appeared to be a bust, lol. I soaked them in acetone then spun them lightly to make sure things were cleaned. I used tsi 321 on all the bearings except now that I know the AR bearing which I used 90wt gear oil. Now that I know that is the AR bearing I guess I should have used tsi 321 oil but the one thing that I wasn't sure about was how to oil them properly. The AR bearing is pressed in and it does come out fairly easy but its different from the smaller ones that I can spin and not sure how to oil it and distribute the oil around. Reel is back together and seems to be smooth and work but took me forever, lol. I have a better feeling for the parts now and how they go together and the next one should go faster. Thanks again for the information.

Shimano baitcasters deep clean questions
Thats pretty much what I have seen but forgive my ignorance since I am still learning, I know which bearings are the spool bearings but which bearing is the AR bearing. On the diagram there is one number 68 and one numbered 26, I think it is 26 but wanted to make sure, thanks.

MLF Redcrest at Guntersville
DC just dropped his last day Redcrest video, didn't know they wore helmets when it rains, I assume it was for the rain, really good video. Anyone know about the helmet thing let me know just curious. I follow DC and MDJ and a few others on the tube and they really do seem like normal folks for the most part they seem like they would have fun fishing with anyone. The endorsements side of things I am not sure how much these guys are making, DC winning Redcrest I know they talk about the 300K but that is before the tax man comes calling, hopefully he has some good tax advisors but usually they are taking 40% of that number if not more...

Shimano baitcasters deep clean questions
I've searched and I have found a lot of good information but I have a few questions that still looking for clarification. The reels that I will be tearing down, already have one partially tore down, are Shimano 16 Scorpion reels bought used on the jdm auction sites. I know for the most part grease goes on gears and oil goes on the spool bearings but I know some of the other moving parts should have a light coating of grease and that is the part I am trying to figure out. I have tsi 321 for the bearings and will probably use that on my level wind also. I have read that gear oil can be (should be?) on the handle roller bearings. I would like to clean all the old grease off with a tooth brush and dawn or simple green and start fresh if possible, just not sure where on the frame to apply grease. I know there are various opinions on grease etc, I will be using Cals for the gears and other locations needing grease and then tsi 321 for bearings and level wind. Since I am still learning the name of the parts if referencing an area that should have light coating of grease if you can reference the number in the diagram so I know what area. Thanks

Whats your favorite LMB search lure...
I know everyone loves them but i've yet to catch a fish on them...I do have one tied on and will continue to throw it out there. I actually have one tied on and meant to throw it yesterday but never did...thats my problem I have to many things and I catch a fish on one thing and it tends to stay in my hands longer than it should.

Yeah thats what I was thinking after throwing it on my baitcaster, it can throw light stuff but just would have been easier on spinning setup...I have a bunch of both but was to lazy to move it over today but will move it over. I'd go everyday if my worn out body would let me...The problem with the t-rigged stuff is all the crappy algae everywhere but I guess I should be throwing something like that. I don't have dbombs but have something pretty close. Yeah still talking and looking, there are decent size fish in these lakes just need to figure things out and doesnt help that we have had 10inches of rain etc...I would normally be fishing the larger lake and seems to have better fish but its so stained that I think would be more tough that the smaller lake.

Yeah my skip casting ability not so good, lol. I assume you are using a baitcaster? I have it on my medium moderate and still not great to through since its pretty light. Yeah I think I am just early, water temps are around 60-62 but we have had roller coaster spring and its just been really slow to warm up. I see what I think are beds getting made but the fish just haven't moved up that I can tell. If they had I would be catching more fish, at least smaller fish. I am catching one here or there, I just think we need warmer weather which we are supposed to get this week. The bigger lake is chocolate milk, we have had so much rain that it really has stained up so I keep fishing the smaller lake which while more stained that normal its still way better. Plan is to go back out wed and maybe thursday since we have yet more rain coming in on friday/sat...sigh.

Welp clouds cleared away and it was a little breezy with bluebird skies...tried all the above that I had listed but only takers were on spinnerbait. Really thought maybe the fluke would have some action and the wacky rig but only three bites on the spinnerbait. I probably should throw the wacky rig more often but man do you really have to slow down to throw it at least un-weighted.

Donuou normally throw a 1oz jig, i have some 1/2oz stuff and the weight is huge, cannot imagine 1oz. Is it this one - https://siebertoutdoors.com/products/ols/products/supreme-brush-jig and I do not see a pats gizzard I assume that is a custom color, what colors does the skirt have and can you provide more info as to why you were using a 1oz jig...just trying to learn, would have never thought to use that heavy weight in shallow.

Awesome fish, I can only dream of something that big. Just dinks for me except the one that I lost. Would like more information, what was the water temp, not sure of your location and just curious. Would also like to know what you were throwing, sounds like a jig but any additional information would be great...again awesome fish!

I could go any day when the weather cooperates now that I am retired. However if I power fish my body will not let me go on consecutive days, stinks but is what it is. I just never know based in the weather when is best to go. Front came through yesterday and cooled off and will be warmer next few days.

Thinking of going out, we have had over the weekend a ton of rain but while these small lakes are up they have large over flows and self regulate pretty quickly. Not sure if I should wait till tomorrow or go today since never know how the weather really affects them. Overcast now, wind 10-15, but will be come partly cloudy to sunny this afternoon and the wind will drop. Here is what i am tying on and will have on the deck, spinnerbait, fluke, swim jig, square bill rocco, underspin, fritts 5 biggun amd normal fritz 5 and whacky rig. I think if it were to stay overcast I like the idea of a buzz bait, I may tie one if those on also, lol.

TWO Boating Accidents At Pro Tournaments Today. 3 Killed.
I think while not nearly as common as auto accidents they are more than most think...here are Missouri stats 2024-2025 - https://www.mshp.dps.missouri.gov/WP03/search.jsp I think this made the news since it was a major fishing tournament organization but I know they happen probably more than most realize.

Yeah I'm still slingin for sure, it was kind of ironic since that trip I was really grousing about not catching anything of decent size, lol. Hopefully I can keep running into a few this year.

Eh about 40K per year, still a lot of deaths, maybe @AlabamaSpothunter meant per month. Either way there are lots of people killed on the road every year.

Yeah I would agree but this lake at this time of year has lots of algae growing and anything bottom like that, every time you reel it in its covered. Its bad enough on my spinner baits and other shallow crank baits. Really not sure what kind of algae it is since when the water heats up it goes away but right now its pretty bad and grows on everything.

Threw a bladed jig mini yesterday along with the spinnerbait and flatside and the spinnerbait was the only one I caught fish on.

TWO Boating Accidents At Pro Tournaments Today. 3 Killed.
I guess for me its a lot like the other issues that we as country has and how you feel like they should be addressed. For me it comes down to personal responsibility, the person driving the boat, car etc..is the only one responsible. Trying to limit things impacts other responsible folks, its really hard to regulate human stupidity. We could place hp limits on all the lakes but we know thats not going to happen. Really a sad day for everyone involved.
