  1. You'd surprised by the amount of people that ask me "what is this" when i am bank fishing. They're not even asking the brand or the model, but just curious on what the hell i have on my rod. The pixy is a parrot i wanted to build, but this is of course not the norm for a reel with colors. Something that makes sense color combination wise is what we need.
  2. Line guide having wobble is normal on all reels. Not even worth adding additional shims because it'll make no difference. And on average, there's more wobble on T-wing reels. No side to side play on my thumb bar, tho.
  3. Y'all should try an electric toothbrush to clean things on a reel. With some Dawn on it, it cleans so much faster and better than a standard brush. No need any ultrasonic cleaner or anything, it cleans bearings to perfection.
  4. But color does sell. In a sea of generic colors, when one colorful reel pops up, people notice. It's not for everyone, but there are plenty that are into it, and would buy it over the standard version. Just look at the amount of TD itos that are on the used market, and still to this day people are using them a lot.
  5. There is only one DC reel made that is supposed to be silent, and it ain't an SLX. Send it back, its broken.
  6. We can't be comparing the color of a derailleur to a baitcaster lol. If you want to compare bikes to reels, do so with bike frames, and you will quickly notice that there are a ton of colors.
  7. You look at this page, and it's crazy how far ahead daiwa is when it comes to offering style that doesn't shy away from offering nothing but silver, black and red anodyzed accents. https://japantackle.com/reel-archives/casting-reel-archives.html?limit=36&p=1
  8. Those are ultra flat. Looks more like googan squad stuff lol.
  9. I have been wondering for some time on how is it that Daiwa released so many limited edition reels with a bunch of color, but Shimano has always ignored it, and only releases the plain jane reels since forever. There's no chance that people wouldn't be interested in a yellow 24 Met DC, or a chameleon green Curado. It only makes sense, but they're ignoring it like different colors of paint don't exist.
  10. Brand of bearings daiwa and shimano uses.
  11. Interested in knowing where to buy real NMB bearings as well. Ali has some fakes ones (i assume they're fake because of multiple reviews stating it), and outside of PLAT, i am not sure where to buy quality bearings in case i need em.
  12. I'd get him the 24 steez. Skip all of these zembcos and ugly sticks, and get him to the end game at the age of 5.
  13. Rigidity is better. The front plate that is usually made out of plastic, is now the frame, which is metal. Less slop between plates is always a positive, and this design is exactly what it offers. And its the 2024 Met DC that made me believe this. The reel feels like a low profile round reel, which is pretty high praise in my book.
  14. Its superior in every way. A coresolid steez, alphas, zillion would only be a massive plus. If its patented, you can let them borrow the t-wing😊cuz i don't it on Daiwas.
  15. I don't have any bent spools at the moment, its just something i've had in the past, and i did find a good way to unbend the edge (on baitcasters) to its original form by using small metal scissors made to cut nails (yes!). You use the round handle portion, place the spool on a hard flat surface, and apply some pressure on the bent section with the scissors handle. It does the job well, but i was wondering if there's a better way, or maybe a tool made for the task.
  16. Is there a known way to do it that gets the best results?
  17. I am in Canada as well. If your goal is to save as much as possible, while also getting a decent or even a great reel, it would be to buy used on ebay or elsewhere. Aliexpress has good deals on new reels as well, but i've noticed that many vendors don't ship to Canadian addresses.
  18. The worst thing people do when trying to get into baitcasting, is getting themselves some cheap garbage with a poor braking system. I don't know how that pfueger reel is, all i know is that the brand is completely dead. I would've grabbed the cheapest Tatula with an SV spool (and the SV spool is important), and a cheap rod (in the $70-100 range), and you would be learning quicker, and cast more accurately. 30-50lb braid is also better to learn with.
  19. Braid to a mono leader. No way i am using just mono with a 400ft stretch, especially if you catch something at long distances.
  20. Did you have the early USDM zillions?
  21. That's what you get from Shimano. They sell you their reels on micro module for over 10 years, making it sound likes its a positive, when its a massive negative. I also find it funny because i've said this on a bunch of forums, and people are like "Daiwa troll!!!". Crazy that after over a decade, some are still unaware. But i believe i know why. The reason being is that a lot of people aren't sensitive to their reels being grindy like a pepper grinder, so they aren't even noticing this unless the handle stops turning, and only then will they be asking themselves if something is wrong with their reel lol.
