  1. Good. Everyone knows my love toward their gear sets. The second my 24 met dc or the 23 antares dc md goes buzzy mode, a storm will rise, and i don't think anybody is ready for it.
  2. The zillion of course. Have a bunch of 34mm spools with different lines on it, and can cover everything between 2g and 1.5oz.
  3. No grease will remove geariness if its there. At first, it might feel like it did, but as soon as it breaks in within an hour of use, welcome back to the buzzy geariness. This is the best gear grease on the market. I don't use it anymore because i used it all, and it's too d**n expensive to grab some more. ZPI used to make gear grease that was also amazing, but ZPI is a semi dead brand, so i don't know what they're doing discontinuing such a quality grease. But for the price, nothing beats Shimano ACE-2 for gears, and it's what i use primarily.
  4. What other reels do you have that lost their smoothness quickly, or is it only the Curado?
  5. I used to do this as well, but a fish that is capable of spooling you, will most likely explode your knot if it gets to it. The only time this has happened to me is when i snagged a sturgeon that was most likely 50lb+ and in heavy current. In normal situations this doesn't happen.
  6. Ceramic coated balls inside a ball bearing? This is the first i hear of this. Just bought a few of these ceramic hybrids, i hope these aren't just coated with ceramic. It says the ball is made out of silicon nitrid ceramic so it shouldn't.
  7. I don't see how you would damage a normal spool from just tightening a knot. And there's no need to tighten it that hard, just put a small piece of masking tape on the knot, and the line won't have any way of slipping on the spool.
  8. You absolutely do feel bites a tad better with certain knobs. But just like a bite, you will feel the vibration of your gear set noticeably more with certain knob materials. It doesn't make much difference when your gears are new and perfectly smooth, but if it's a pair that has seen some use over the years, there's no dampening of vibration with those skinny knobs, metal ones or carbon ones.
  9. Since the beginning of this season, i've been using multiple titanium knobs from Livre that i got off season. Always assumed you'd feel the internals of your reel more by using carbon and metal knobs, but i was actually surprised by the difference. Using thicker line, you even feel the line lay on the spool under tension. Big difference between metal and rubber, and now i understand why Shimano has been using nothing but thick rubber knobs since at least the late 90s. It really does dampens the vibration that you feel at the tip of your fingers.
  10. Been using the fuji keepers since 2015. Never had any issues with it, and the rubbing ring didn't even fall apart after a decade.
  11. 4 strand slices veggies waaay better than 8. 8 is more silent, smoother and to a much lesser extent, casts a bit better.
  12. 4 if you'll have to slice through veggies. 8 if you're mostly fishing in open water.
  13. Heavy baits such as the glide baits, or in heavy cover for flipping, frogging, etc.
  14. Is this only for the US, or Canada as well? Then again, when japanese auctions exist, it's hard to care about local price😊
  15. Tried the two Phat Lab cranks i got a few days ago. The red one with a wakebait style lip is awesome, but the pink one swims so poorly i am not sure what's going on there. At first i thought that these were supposed to swim like an S crank from MB or the scatter rap from Rapala, but nope, they just swim upwards, and it's a complete mess. Will probably have to grind the lip, and transform it into a squarebill, and hope it runs well.
  16. I would personally grab the Tatula 80 or the 2024 Tatula 100 over any other cheap reels. Newer Tatulas feel noticeably better than something like a Curado, let alone an SLX or some crap like the CC80.
  17. I've had this happening once with the original PP Slick8. Never found the issue, just swapped to Berkley x9, and the problem was gone.
  18. I will never stop whining about Shimano gears. It's an unacceptable selling feature that has plagued the brand for over ten years. But that doesn't mean that i am just gonna ignore everything they release either. Why would i limit myself to just Daiwa? 24 Met DC i got during winter, casts well, and is pretty much my all time fav shimano. Not geary yet either. When it does go buzzy, everyone will know about it😎
  19. Is there one in particular that is THE one to go for? The YGK Full Drag is the one i've heard the most positivity towards, but it's so d**n expensive.
  20. Weren't they made in the US? I bought a spool of #65 from Amazon (sold and shipped by amazon), and it says Made in Taiwan on the spool. Kinda wondering if this is some knockoff or something. I never bought a 65lb line from Sufix before, but have gotten many between 8-50lb, and i never saw these little white dots on the line. Does the line look right for those using 65lb? https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00479DSN6?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title
  21. Great. Been hearing so much positive comments for so long about YGK, it's finally time to test it out.
  22. Most high end reels that i do get, the play is not present or the absolute minimum (on baitcasters. no idea how it is on spinning reels). Daiwa used to not care, but newer releases since around 2016, i see a lot of the lateral play removed from factory.
  23. It just feel uncomfy. I don't know the reasoning, maybe that bump section, but i can never feel like my hand is sitting well on those reel seats.
