  1. Have been using a bunch of 3-5pc rods since around 2018, and they have been amazing. The important thing is to grab one from a good company, not the noname trash from ali/temu. The Megabass Triza for example, is extremely good, and that's a 3pc rod.
  2. Been fishing musky since forever, but only got serious into chunking large baits for bass back in mid 2023 because the studio composite rod i got, paired with the Z2020 is such an incredible combo that it doesn't bother me if i don't catch a single fish in a day of fishing. So how many of you are into swimbaiting for bass?
  3. Im not too sure how exactly would that side plate come off. Its tightly fitted, no chance of opening on its own. As a matter of fact, i really like this design, and wish my daiwas had something similar.
  4. And what's really impressive is how well they hold the butter smoothness over the years.
  5. Of course they're incredible, these reels are guaranteed to be destroying Steez sales lol. To me, of anything currently available right now, the Zil HD is the ultimate reel to buy over them all, including the Conquest, Anteres, Met DC, and everything else. When they discontinue these, there's zero chance that we'll be getting this kind of quality for the same price. This is the SV103 of today😱And i'd argue far superior to the SV103 because they're cheaper from Japan, comfier to palm, and have more tuning done to them.
  6. Had the Valkery Wold Expedition in 7.8', and it was a great rod. Currently using the Force 5 in 7.6' 5pc rod from Studio Composite, and its incredibly good (balance is the best i've tried from a big rod). I hear the Megabass Triza Dragoon is also great. On the cheaper side, there are a few JDM rods from Abu Garcia that seem decent for the price.
  7. Used to use it when i got into fishing 25y ago. Havent used it in over 15 years, and with products like the sufix 832 and Berkley X9, i don't see the reason to bother. Surprised this brand didn't go under because i never hear anything about it, no marketing nor people using it.
  8. At least it was a Temu brand, and not a Shimano or a Daiwa🙃
  9. Been using the Light and the Ultra Light oils from Hedgehog for over a decade. No reason to try anything else, they do their job perfectly.
  10. What y'all think of this brand? To me they're slowly becoming the Holosun of the fishing industry.
  11. Ever since they added the Paypal payment, Ali is 300% safe. I've ordered a couple of small things that were never delivered late last year, i didn't open a case with Ali, and both buyers didn't want to refund. I opened a case with Paypal, and everything got refunded.
  12. The only way i'd wash one of my reels this way is if i used it in saltwater. No way i am doing this in freshwater. One full service per season is all what's needed.
  13. Suprised to see so little love toward the used market. I guess if you don't tinker with reels, and aren't able to replace a bearing, worm gear, main gear, etc, used is less attractive. I got another used Z2020 last year, swapped the gear set, had to clean one bearing, serviced the whole reel, and its as smooth and silent as new. Got the reel for like $140, and for that price it's unbeatable.
  14. Personally prefer grabbing used in near mint condition to save $$.
  15. Sharp edges on the sides of the handle and those knobs feels ultra cheapo, but for under $5 its fine. One vendor was selling carbon handles without the knobs for $10, and they looked so d**n good compared to your average handle, all the edges were rounded and it was very similar to the RCS handles, but no sure what happened, they stopped selling those.
  16. This is exactly what it does. Dumb, isn't it? I will ignore all new Daiwa releases if this is the future of the company.
  17. Its not this rod that's a steal, its the NRX's that are heavily overpriced, while also looking like they're from 1997.
  18. Wish my zillion had a cool color like that blue doyo instead of having the most boring and generic silver that exists.
  19. Its depressing, but smallies, musky and walleye fishery is pretty good in Spring and Fall. Summer is completely dead like they all moved to another country, tho.
  20. Its a decent reel. The only DC reels that i truly wouldn't suggest are the ones that use inferior DC braking to the IDC-5. Curado DC/SLX DC for example, i'd stay far away from those.
  21. For sure, but i am just not too certain how debris get in this easily. I most often fish in real dirty rivers where you'd see tampons and condoms floating around (no joke btw😕), and unless i get the reel submerged, which i usually don't do, they never get noisy in a season.
  22. When spooling it for the first time, apply a lot of pressure on the line (the more the better) so it is tightly fitted on the spool. I usually use down to 10# of the 832, and it doesn't dig. Also, when you're snagged, don't just tighten the drag, and pull. That's bad for your gears and will dig even with 50#.
