Bearing oil

What do you prefer and why (if possible)

I have several small bottles of Shimano oil including a bottle with a darker green cap vs the normal blue. The darker green bottle came with my Curado BFS reel for use with the micro bearings.
Seems fine to me, but I also use Lucas oil for fishing reels just not on bearings.

Used be a TW deal.

That's how I found out about it.

Last couple came from ebay I think.

So propably not state side.

When I find it, I stock up.

But it lasts a while which is good.

I’ve never seen a reason to use anything other than Shimano oil.

I checked Carolina Tackle, also OOS.

I'm surprised Tackle Trap lists spools, bearings, and grease, but no oil.

ZPI F-Zero Nano Finesse is go-to for me.

except, that SiN palm bearing runs dry.  Spool w/ 4-mm shaft end has a custom KTF IXA hybrid bearing and gets lowest-viscosity oil.

I see the youtube guys say to only use oil made specifically for fishing reels, but I use whatever various quality oil I have lying around.  Normally it's a gunoil of some sort.  I think there's a lot of snake oil salesmen in the oil business, both gun and fishing oils.

I have been using TSI 321 on bearings and Bantam oil on everything else. I also use the BFS oil Shimano supplied with a reel. This stuff is good but can be short lived.

TSI 321 on all my bearings

it’s a light oil with a needle applicator that I can get easily and works well. I’ll also use it to lube anything that needs a light thin oil. Door hinges are a good shout.

Look at High Speed Oil from Boca Bearings also Spool Speed SF Lube from Spoolspeed.com

What I have been using is ReelX oil. This stuff is really good. www.corrosionx.com

I use liquid bearing on my pitching and flipping reals and anything that I need to bomb it out there.

My other reels, I use super lube

grease, I like smoothness and consistency.

I have a needle applicator bottle full of Abu Garcia Silicote oil I have been using up and haven't had any issues, so I am just l continuing to use it up.

I also have bottles or TSI321, yellow Rocket Fuel, and I believe a bottle of ReelX.

I've tried each of them and they all seem fine. I don't know that I notice all that much difference between them.

This is 100% nonsense. There is no oil “made for fishing reels “ they’re all repurposed products. A low viscosity oil with anti corrosion additives is all you need regardless of labeling. Something that comes in a needle oiler is handy. Main thing is to use something. Don’t overthink this.

You're right. Now should I go with a green pumpkin jig that has 3 strands of chartreuse or 4? Maybe watermelon instead?

3N1 oil

I used to use Lucas reel oil until I lost the bottle. Now I’ve been using the Lucas gun oil for the past few years with no problems at all. Same **** tbh.

I’ve also used Rem Oil. The reels don’t care.

I read 3 n 1 won a long distance casting championship years ago.  Close to yellow rocket fuel in specs.  DVT Mike knows his stuff.

I'm not sure one cast with 15 ounces counts.

I still like the guys who race motorcycles.

Tuning a personal reel stash, one-time purchase lasts to boredom.
