  1. How is it that your bait monkey is searching on TW for a JDM reel? It needs to discover importing from Japan, or be very outdated in 2026🤢
  2. I personally never cared about DC, but always had a couple because of the sound they make. But i feel like the new Met DC is REALLY good. Excluding even how comfy they're to palm, the casting distance, when properly adjusted, is really really good. The spool feels so free, while not having any overruns. The first DC reel that i can safely say is worth owning.
  3. But THEREELTEST told me that Shimano obliterates everything from daiwa?!
  4. Not for me personally. I always fish at the VERY edge of backlashing. I want the spool to feel as free as humanly possible. Gotta constantly do small adjustments depending on lure change, wind, etc.
  5. Hope it helped. It's heavy, but this is not a reel you use on a short meduim stick for jerkbaits. Considering how massive the reel foot is (don't think i ever saw one this thick on a bass reel), it's pretty clear that they weren't paying much attention to the weight of the reel.
  6. The reception seems good, but did you buy one? Intend to get one in the near future? I need one in the 200 size for muksy, striper and swimbaiting bass, so until they get their ass together, and release a 200 size, i am not getting one.
  7. I now own 3 Deps250s and 7 Deps175. This doesn't mean i got them for MSRP lol.
  8. My guetto way has saved 3-4 spools over the years. Take your nail cutting scissors. The handle part needs to be round. Put the spool flat on a hard surface that won't scratch it (plastic, wood, etc). The bent section needs to be the portion of the spool that is on the hard surface. Then, simply do passes (up and down, up and down) with the round side of the handle of your scissors on the section that's bent, and you don't even need to apply much force either. It unbends the edge equally, and the spool is saved.
  9. For reels it's whatever the Zillion currently worth from Japan. For rods its whatever the Expride is worth in NA.
  10. Is it the cheap one you got from Japan?
  11. I came here to say that it's extremely annoying that TSI321 isn't available in Canada. What the hell.
  12. I predicted Daiwa to come out with a DC reel in 2026 now that the Shimano's patent on DC has expired, but it looks like Abu will release one first. Are you interested?
  13. Bought these four in the last week. Got hooked on the deps 250s late last year, now i must have multiple. Tried the Phat Lab Gill last year, and really like their profile and size, so got another. And the last two seem interesting stick baits that i wanna try for striper and smallies in murky water rivers i fish smallies in.
  14. The gear set in the OG steez isn't that great. It's smooth when new, but i wouldn't say that it lasts that long before going "Shimano'ish". Thing is, what i do with my og Steez reels is install the original pinion gear, but replace the main gear from the one that is on the og zillion, which is a tank, and significantly smoother under load than the original steez gear. This makes the og steez as smooth and silent as the new steez reels, and the upgrade isn't even expensive.
  15. That's crazy, i've never even heard anybody else stating that a Steez is rough. I've had over half a dozen of the og steez reels, and none of them were like that. If purchased in used condition, then it sure can have some wear on the gears, and sometimes the bearings, but that is to be expected with used stuff. How were the og steez hard to work on? There's barely any parts inside, just like the og alphas, pixy, tdz, etc.
  16. Agree or disagree? I was cleaning my 103SH earlier today, and it's such a great reel to work on. Super easy, barely any parts, and everything is made out of metal. Reel looks awesome (not outdated at all for being TWENTY GOD DAYUM YEARS OLD), supports THE spool platform, and palms great. What else do you need? Top 5 best reels made to date in my opinion.
  17. So annoyed right now. There was a NOS original alphas from 2004 sold for like $125 today. I wake up to do the bidding, and have no electricity for the whole day because they were repairing whatever, so couldn't bid, and now somebody bought my beloved😭THIS SUX.
  18. St Croix rods have a lot of walleye'ish rod actions. I personally just use my bass rods for them, works great.
  19. Looking at this thread, you ain't gonna find many used reels in clean condition😭
  20. Reading all these responses hurt my soul. I wouldn't even put my reel on grass😭
  21. Are you the "fishing gear are like tools to me", or are you babying your gear, and don't want to scratch your reels/rods? My OCD doesn't allow me to scratch my reels, so i usually prefer losing a PB than scratching a reel of mine. Good for resale value, i guess🙂
  22. Always was jelly of all the ponds in the US, but it never even came to me that they're mostly private. Well, that's sucks.
  23. This is so complicated and annoying.
  24. Shimano and Daiwa stuff is the best. Cheap, and quality, so no reason to bother with the others outside of spool bearing oil, which i personally use from Hedgehog.
