  1. Incredibly bad analogy! The average speed of a major league fastball is 93.7 mph. Yes, hitting a baseball is probably the hardest thing you could possibly do in sports. I am not clueless, and I 100% understand the point you are driving at. But that is a poor analogy. For reference, literally last night my 15u club team I coach was in the cage raking off the machine set at 90 mph. These are 15 year olds hitting 90 mph. Hell, I can still hit a 90 mph fastball and I am getting old and fat! Now, had you said hitting a major league curve/slider/splitter/slurve/knuckle...I would 100% agree with you. 😄 OR any "major league fastball" over 95 mph....good luck making contact with that! The difference between a 95 and 100 mph fastball is homeruns!
  2. I think it is very naive to say that 0% of recreational anglers could compete on a pro level, and even win. Though the percentage is probably very very small across the US, you can't tell me there are not several expert level recreational anglers in our country that genuinely have zero interest in chasing a pro level tournament series, or even competing at all. Of the what...350 million?...people that live in the US alone, you really think that only 104 of them are good enough to fish the elites? That is like saying between the estimated 100 billion to 400 billion planets in our galaxy, earth is the only one that sustains life. There are more out there.
  3. I pass a sign like that all the time where I live. Still no snow though.
  4. vise and a drill press?
  5. Couldn't disagree more. Probably owned 25 different Shimano's at this point with mm gears, fishing every type of presentation. Including catching bigger fish like muskie, salmon, and steelhead. Not one single issue ever. They have all been absolutely fantastic.
  6. 🤣 Shimano's with micro module gears are absolutely perfectly fine. Don't let ABU persuade you away from that. He's hell bent in every reel thread making sure everyone only buys Daiwa. Daiwa is a great choice too. They make some great reels. The Daiwas I own have all been great. It's Chevy vs Ford in most cases between the two brands. In my experience having owned 8 total curado 200k's at one point, they have been a fantastic reel. Smooth as butter, great drags, and cast very well. Zero issues and would buy another again in a heartbeat if I had the need. There are absolutely better reels you can buy. You asked for a 200 size reel that can be had for $150. Curado k fits that perfectly and is a great quality reel.
  7. @TOXIC Which is why I said I'm not at a pro level obviously. Not by a long shot. I'm not even middle of the road to the best anglers on this forum. I'm speaking of my knowledge and commitment compared to anglers I actually know in real life. My comment did not mean to come across as conceited. I apologize if it did.
  8. I mean...you still have 4 hours and 5 min...🤣
  9. I learned the basics of fishing from my father and have pretty much taught myself all the rest. I research the heck out of everything, I try multiple things, and through trial and error I just build on that. It doesn't hurt that fishing is one of the biggest passions in my life. So I have really dedicated a lifetime to angling. I am not at a pro level obviously, but in doing so, I can honestly say I have reached a point now that there is no one I know in my personal life (not internet friends like here) that is a better angler than I am. But there are still plenty of fishing experiences that I am learning about. One in particular that stumps me time and time again is catching sea perch. No matter how much I read and try to follow what I read...I still can't catch one of those little guys and it drives me nuts. Sea perch is my white whale. 😄 Personal experience can be taught, and I am doing my best to pass that onto my son and daughters and whoever else cares to listen. But nothing will teach you fishing more so than trying and failing yourself over and over and over again. You can teach someone how to tie a knot. You can teach someone how to cast a lure. But you can't teach the drive to learn, or the want to be the best angler you can possibly be. Very few people I know could care less if they have 10lb mono vs 12lb fluoro spooled up, and probably wouldn't care to tell the difference or even ask why.
  10. St croix avid 7' ML 2 piece would be decent. Not a lot of decent 2 piece rods with the correct action for ds imho.
  11. @DaubsNU1 Do you have any recommendations for must see things within either of those parks?
  12. I am probably way out of the loop, but is that even a legal practice? And why would you do it in the first place? So you know if you catch the same fish twice? Seems like a pointless waste of time. Get that fish back in the water.
  13. I don't have a lucky rod, but I have one designated bass rod that has probably caught 80% of my bass in the last decade.
  14. Have already been there many times over. They are definitely a must see. We are focused on the west side this time around. I was going to close the loop up from Page through Monument Valley and into Moab from the south end, but we decided to backtrack back north on I-84 and spend two nights in Park City on the way home for some epic spring skiing instead. Going to spend one night in Bryce Canyon City, one night in St George, two nights in Page, and two nights in Park City. Plus a night going and a night headed home in Boise.
  15. I am going to take the family on a week long road trip from Portland, Or down to St. George, Ut and then on to Page, Az. I want to hit up Bryce Canyon National Park and Zion National Park. We are skipping the SE corner of the state as we have been to Moab several times wheelin' in the Jeep. Has anyone ever been to either of these parks, and if so what are the "must do/see" places in these parks. We have designated a day in each park before we venture down to Page to visit antelope canyon and horseshoe bend.
  16. I love the 906c cbr for bladed jigs, and I fish it from a kayak. I find the extra length really helps casting when wanting long casts from a kayak. It is a great rod for bladed jigs, though, it is intended for deeper cranks. If you can get hands on, I suggest you really take a look at it. It will surprise you. The 6 power cbr is not like other 6 power h/xh rods. It is a 6 power cranking rod with a nice moderate flex. Handles 1/2oz bladed jigs very nicely, and its fairly light.
  17. Fortnite. Lol, but in addition to that, I ski A LOT, coach baseball two days a week, basketball 3 days a week, I just gave the shop its annual cleaning, and on the weekends currently I am finding a couple hours to break away for steelhead fishing as they are almost at the peak of the winter run. I see what you did there
  18. I have bluebird skies and a warm 24 degrees right now.
  19. Zillion, Met b, Bantam A...all solid choices
  20. Provoke for me when it comes to a cheaper offering than megabass
