  1. Welcome to Bass Resource!
  2. Welcome Tim!
  3. I do not shop much through Amazon, but have accumulated a decent chunk of change in gift cards and was thinking of putting them to use. Has anyone ever ordered a reel or rod through Amazon? Looking at Shimano reels and NRX+ rods I have noticed that they are sold by various sellers. I don't want to get a lemon or a fake. How trust worthy is Amazon with this stuff?
  4. I troll and back bounce for salmon all the time
  5. imx pro 906c cbr or step up to the 968
  6. 2024 was a reall rough and also very busy year for me. I intend to fish as much as I possibly can with my father in 2025 as he is now 71 and there are not going to be a ton of "quality" years left to do so. He is still as capable now as he was when he was 60, but I know that time is becoming more and more limited. I want to make as many memories for both of us while we still can.
  7. Crankbaits, large swimbaits, chatterbaits, and strolling.
  8. To each their own. I hate blingtanium. Especially on cars, though, I do own one red car with a lot of polished stainless. I've been that way my whole life.
  9. I'm in the "simple looks" camp myself. I like my gear non bling and utilitarian looking. Matte blacks. Clean. Simple. No stupid graphics, goddy colors, or polished bling metal. That's not for me and never will be.
  10. Oh I was considering the curado bfs as my next purchase. I might hold off awhile.
  11. Would cutting a paddle tail off right at the paddle work to try this technique out without having to buy some more plastics? I have quite a few paddle tails that do not see much use. I would like to try out strolling, and I understand how to fish the technique and the differences in the baits. Has anyone ever tried that? Might be a way to test it out before going down the rabbit hole of buying specific baits for this.
  12. White double willow spinnerbait and black/blue football jig with trailer. Both half ounce.
  13. New cars are overrated. The price alone is absurd with what they cost in the last 5 or so years. I own a vehicle from every decade starting from the 60's with the exception of the 80's. In the current fleet of vehicles, I only own one with less than 100k miles (2022 4runner). I wouldn't give any of them up for a '20+ vehicle with the exception of a couple vehicles that were made for a decade or more and were at the end of the body style. Example, my 2022 4runner. I would also buy a pre '22 Tundra in a heartbeat if I could ever justify getting rid of the one I have. And there is no way in hell I would ever give up my 7.3 powerstroke. BUT...if you have that new car itch and want something smaller, I would be taking a hard look at a 4runner or a Tacoma over a trailblazer. Subaru's are still good, too, for the most part. Even with that CVT transmission. But there are definitely much better options if you buy a nice clean 5+ year old car or truck. But you are going to pay almost as much as a new car for one, at least in my area.
  14. Installing a longer handle will absolutely change the speed of the reel if reeling at the same cadence because the handle has to travel a further distance per revolution. The handle itself acts like a gear. Same as if you change the sprocket size on a dirt bike or put bigger tires on your truck. You have to reel faster with a longer handle for the reel speed to be the same as reeling slower with a shorter handle. The IPT won't change though. Longer handle = slower reel = more torque
  15. I am in the fast category for pitchin/flippin too. That is the only technique I use 8:1. I like to pick up line quickly when fishing this technique. Everything else is 6:1 or 7:1.
  16. I am extremely jealous of the snow you are all getting
  17. No fish, but went fishing with the boy new years day!
  18. Thank you. I'm no stranger to rivers. 😉
  19. And I also got set up with an anchor. Not sure on a spool yet. Used an old handlebar pad from my dirt bike.
