  1. What are some nice modern spinning reels? I have a Diawa Tierra which i love, looking for something similar (or as good) without killing the bank. Looking to replace an old Shimano Sedona that is getting a little rough. I'v been looking at the Shimano Stradic ci4+ but thats up there in price, anything a little cheaper I should look at?
  2. Reels, buying a rod causes me too much stress with all the options
  3. I have never used the Mojo's or Rage series but had premiers and avids, and one LTB I'd say yes. I found the avid a lot better than the premier, and the LTB was my fav. rod pretty expensive for me though if $ in that price range was not an issue I'd go with the LTB.
  4. They are on a roll thats for sure. GL to your team seeing as mine failed hard as usual.. (tigers)
  5. If I had 7 rods I'd probably head out with these rigged up. 1. Tube 2. Shallow square bill 3. Deep Crank 4. Drop Shot setup 5. Senko weightless 6. Weighted plastic 7. Jig
  6. Never used a duckett but like above I think a MH/F would be good, my personal preference would be a little shorter 6'8 - 7 ft rod
  7. Not too often in my area when fishing for bass but when we target walleye in the river the silver bass become a pain when they are running. Can't keep them off the jigs.
  8. Boat, you can just access so many more spots.
  9. I have caught double silver bass when they are schooling up heavy never large or smallmouth though. I'm sure your son was pretty excited.
  10. I would assume if they took away the upgrade option, if a rod broke i'd think they would only replace with the same model / line of rod. I'd post it on the forum or some local classifieds for sale.
  11. People have said it already but I'd check out the lightning rod. I don't have the shock version but the regular model and it has done me well as an all purpose rod.
  12. Will be spooled up with fluro, Thanks for opinions i'll go with xf. Removing the cumara from the line up due to no more shimano lifetime warranty, looks and sounds like a great rod but too much money without it. Any other last min rod ideas to check out at the tackle shop in the 250 range are welcome.
  13. Will be pickup up a new bc rod soon for jigs and plastics (Mainly jigs). Fishing around docks / medium cover at worst. Im looking at either an st. croix avid, legend tournament, or shimanno cumura.. Going to decide when looking at them in store I think. Thinking of getting a MH rod just unsure if fast or extra fast would be a better tip action for my application? (If anyone could compare the actions of the specific models above that would be great) cheers.
  14. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll take a look into those rods. As for the application, I fish a shallower lake, usually around docks, rock piles, light - medium weed cover nothing too heavy.
  15. In the market for a bass jig rod, been a while since I followed new products or bought anything new for fishing so i'm looking for advice on a new rod. Looking for a caster, under $200 (I understand "add a little and get xxxx" but you can just keep adding and adding and it gets out of hand, 200 is pretty close to max), Lure weight range around 1/2 oz + - a little, probaly nothing over 3/4oz, fishing up to medium cover. Curently using a abu vendetta and not really a fan... I have a spinning model as my backup all purpose rod which did the job fine but I really don't like the caster model I bought. Also wondering what line people would recommend for bass jigging setup? The rod will be paired with a shimano citica reel.
  16. I bought that exact model for the same application. Have not had a chance to try it but it feels / looks very solid.
  17. I use a st. croix premier 2 piece 7ft. Great ul rod, breaks down pretty small, not sure on a 3 piece though.
  18. Spooky shad, I love the chart black back though. My fav. crank bait
  19. Thanks for the info, ill get em a solid try this season, See how it goes.
  20. Looking for some info on lipless cranks. I fish pretty clear waters, I have never had great success with these baits Tried various brands, Just picked up some natural colour xcalibur ones to try this year. Couple questions, 1. Are these fished the same as cranks (basically hit some cover / bottom to get a bite?) 2. Do these usually produce as good in clear waters as stained? i usually don't throw baits with rattles, just wondering if it spooks fish in clearer waters Info will be appreciated.
  21. They work good for jigging walleye in my area. NEVER had any luck with them for bass, but then again I don't really drop shot, I'm sure they might work good for that
  22. J Fran pretty much answered my question with his 1st post, I thought the thread would delete if i deleted my original
  23. 1st movie in a long time actually worth going to the theatre to see 3d was really cool, my 1st 3d viewing at the theatre.
  24. Also curious about this, are they mainly entertainment or full or tips and techniques?
  25. Never seen the shows, are they pretty decent? Thinking of buying a season at BPS for $15. Which season is better 1, or 2?
