  1. Oh sorry I forgot that part. As usual it was rigged on a owner flashy spinner 3/0 hook.
  2. I'm going to let this run a few days before I post up my data. Me and my best 2 freinds have keep a very detailed record of bass 8lbs are more for 6 years. With me having the most data obviously because I live on the lake. Theirs is from trips up with me. Sunday night was the 6 year mark. So I compiled all the data. Its eye opening for sure.
  3. I think that's been upgraded already. Freind of mine that was up for the weekend was reading something published online saying it was 31 double digit bass now. This was around 12ish today. So let's ask this. If you had to fish water say 4 foot depth and less for big bass. Say 8lbs are bigger What would you want. Grass or Wood? Intrested in everyone's thoughts. Then I will release my data I have compiled over the last 6 years.
  4. Just came off the water for a lil lunch break. Finding a few bites this morning. Vast majority are short buck bass. Did break off a good fish and landed another legal keeper. Then this happened. 7.53lber. Not a bad start to the season. Fish were holding in 2.5 to 3 foot on the edge of a sand flat/spawning flat. Kvd 1.0 crank in a pearl/black back color.
  5. Off had I remember seeing 58 to 59 out in the open water when I leavt the house and 59.5 to 60.5 in the coves this was around 9:30 this morning. When I headed home, coming out the cove I was in the graph said 62.3 if I remember correctly. My pasty white legs and arms got a bit red today lol.
  6. Just came off the water. Fish are scattered into lil groups. Some holding so tightly to cover you basically have too beat them out if it, the rest are holding off cover in the 2.5 to 3.5 foot range. Had 26 bites today, 3 broke off, 9 jumped the hook, the rest got landed of those 5 were good eating size fish and headed for the grease this weekend. 4 inch swimbait in baby bass color was the bait today. Wind was simply brutal today. More size showed up today, compared to yesterday and the day before. Think we have a push of fish about to make their move up. In the next 24 to 36 hours. Change yalls undies, kiss the wife goodbye fellas it's time too be on the water.
  7. I fished from about 30 mints after I posted that pic till 5pm. Me and my new neighbor went out near the house. I boated 3 keepers between 14.5 to 16.5 inches, put back 7 dinks, missed 3 fish. He had 2 keepers in the same size range as what I landed jump the hook and missed 5 or 8 bites. Not a bad start to the season. Didnt really fo after them hard, just jumped in the first cove out the wind. Fish were scattered, some holding tight and shallow, some holding out in 2 to 3 foot of water. 4 inch swimbait was the bait today. Neighbor tryed a couple of diffrent trigged plastics and missed every bite he had.
  8. Water is clearing up and warming up. See that temp? Yall know what time it is? Its bass smashing time fellas. Bass tracker is in the water and we bout to go find them.
  9. Not sure right now, I'm at work till friday. But if I had to put a WAG on it. I'd say mid day to 3 pm back cove areas of 1 to 3 foot depth range where in the 48 to 52 degrees temp range today. I'm planning on fishing this weekend and will provide a more accurate temp this weekend.
  10. Well I'm not going to say I can every day. But I can must days lol.
  11. Ok. Yea I had something in my facebook feed about a DD bass caught saturday and it was saying his bass was number 19
  12. Is that since January? I seen something posted on facebook that its 19 total so far.
  13. Yep seen that. It was all the buzz around zwolle toledo town and many. One thing is for sure, I wasnt on the water in this cold wet weather.
  14. That's easy. 4 inch swimbait will put several hundred bass in the boat again this year. If not well over a thousand bass. Followed closely by the ribbet frog.
  15. Chocolate milk. It's always chocolate milk for a min of 3 days any time we get a rain that will increase the lake level. Water temp ranged from 48.7 to 50.5 degrees.
  16. Well I hit the water today around 10am. Fished a few close pockets to the house till 12ish. Had 7 bites landed 5 of them. The 5 landed were the most intense bites, really smashed the bait. Fish were all up in 1 foot of water holding tight tight too wood cover. Bites came on a 4 inch watermelon red swimbait. Nothing to right home about but soild 1.5 to 2.5 lbs fish. All fat females from what I could tell.
  17. No problem. That's what we here for. I learn something new about catching bass on the big pond every day and still ho back and re-read this thread several times a year.
  18. The north shore sides will be the warmest water, the futher north you go in the lake the warmer the water will be. Target the warmest water with wind blowing on to it. It will push baitfish into those areas and the fish will be eating more. Target coves with creeks, not just rain runoff creeks but coves with real deal creeks, watch for wood in the 2 to 6 foot depth. Small sqaure bill cranks in white/chartreuse, white and black back, white and pearl, bone and chrome and black back. 3/8th once chatter baits and spinnerbaits in white, white/chartreuse, white/chartreuse with either silver or gold sparkle. 3/8th once swimjig same colors as above. 4 inch kvd swimbait rigged on a owner flashy spinner 3/0 hook. Either watermelon red or ghost shad. Texas rig/Carolina rig with your choice of plastic in either watermelon red, watermelon seed, green pumpkin or my personal fav black with chartreuse tail. If the weather is right and water temp is high enough, good ole baby ribbet. Black and red flake when its sunny and white/chartreuse when its cloudy. Hope this helps. As always. If yall see a fat guy with bare feet in a blue pro crappie boat. That's me come over and say hello.
  19. With that time schedule. Be sure to bring warm weather clothes, extreme cold weather clothes and all the rain gear you have. Honestly since you dont know the big pond all that well, stay shallow. It will be more productive for your skills and equipment and with our typical weather that time of year. It will be much more safe. Toledo bend will quickly take your life if your not on your toes, she gets very mean very fast, dont run on plane outside of a sra boatlane.
  20. Not to get to far of subject but here's a thought. If they really wanted to get the grass growing back wide spread in the lake. They should give out hydrilla like they do the fingerling bass. Give it out to anyone who wants it say once or twice a year with instructions on how to best get it to take. That would get it coming back very fast in my opinion.
  21. Good maybe the vast majority of the weekend can dams will stay on the texas side. As far as the grass kill off on San miguel? They are half right or only telling half truth. I seen first hand from the front deck of my boat, how the grass got killed off. The spray didnt kill it directly. The dead and dieing silvana sunk and choked out the other grass. I watched it happen over about a 3 to 4 month time span. Most notably was the huge hydrilla stand we had infront of our warf. Anyways. It's almost time to get the boat dressed up and strings changed out and the takle bags repacked and a new net. Cant forget the new net.
  22. Baaaa humbug lol.
  23. There is no diffrence between a large mouth bass and a whitetail buck. They both only move as far as needed too live comfortable and have easy access to food and female's. Wind current, water current, bait fish school movement, fishing pressure and water temp/oxygen levels will all effect how far they move off the spawning areas. As well as how far and often they will move every 24 hour period. In the dead middle of the summer heat, I have a few humps that are anywheres from 200 yards too 1/2 mile from spawning area. That I know those bass use during the spawn. Then I have a few creek drains that hold fish in the dead middle of summer, that are still in casting distance of the bank and the beds. Hope this helps.
  24. Have you seen the day time temps? It was 112 degrees mid day last Sunday as I was doing 70 on 171 headed to many.
  25. That I cant answer for you. For me it would be plenty of light but I have extremely good night vision and can do things in the dark most wouldnt even attempt to try. I use a small red led headlamp when I need too put on a new bait are cut and retie but other then that I dont have any lights on in the boat.
