  1. Fish at night. Black single blade spinnerbait. Black and blue anything soft plastic Top water buzz frog in black with red or blue flake.
  2. I dont know about the river and any aquatic vegetation, dont get up the lake that far.
  3. At 171 level all ramps are useable. As to security. If you dont have to pay to use it. It's not going to be secure. If you pay to use the ramp it's going to be 50% secure.
  4. They still biting, swimbait in ghost shad color plus white and chartreuse baby ribbet. 7 females and 1 male. I know the water level s%&$@ but got too make the most of it, they going to spawn somewhere.
  5. Ok so trying too condense this as best as possible. Sorry I didnt give a report yesterday, it was late by the time we had everything cleaned up and ate supper. So here goes. Had some kin up for the weekend, we started fishing saturday morning, fished till noonish ate and then fished till dark. Sunday started fishing around 8am, fished till 1ish ate and then fished till 7pm. Between the 2 of us we ended up with 28 keepers, 40 plus buck/dink bass and he put one back that went 4.70 that had spawned out and was skinny and run down. Our fish were averaging 15 1/2 inches and 2 1/2 pounds. Baits used were 4 inch baby bass colored swimbaits rigged on owner flasher swimmer hooks. White and chartreuse swimjig with some kind of white trailer. Black and red flake baby ribbet, white popping frog, 1/4 once blue back and chrome trap and kvd 1.0 sqaurebill crank ( dont know the name of the color). Have pics of all the bass in the sink before we cleaned them but site says file is to big too upload. The tree pics are from sunday morning where we found them on a shad bite.
  6. The color and the firmness/texture of the eggs themselves as well as the hardness of the egg sack. If the eggsack is hard like a rock and the eggs are bright, bright yellow, she is about to find a bed and drop them. All I have time for right now, lengthy report coming this evening, we on them so far today, just stopped to eat a late lunch. We got wind today, so the shad bite is on. Top water is coming to life as well.
  7. That's not the only area it is late. We caught 10 keepers yesterday and all the females had under developed eggs. It was slow with no wind yesterday lol.
  8. So I went picked a roll of Pline cxx 20 pound. Been on the water since noon till 7 this evening. Only had 1 break off today and that wasnt the strings fault. Hard too not get broke off when your hooked up too a 4 1/2 foot gator gar. Liking the new line, but time will tell weather I stay with it or just go back too big game. It cast good, holds a good knot. Was able too hook and land several more fish before needing too be cut and retied compared too the big game. But that could be because the cxx has a thicker dia then the big game I have been using.
  9. Hey I know that spot lol
  10. Something I forgot to mention. Due too what I'm fishing in and around I keep my drag locked down tight. So the fish cant get line too get themselves wrapped up in anything. Is floro going too be able to handle that kind of power hooksets. I mean I really put the fire too them when I set the hook.
  11. So some of you know me from the Toledo bend thread that Catt has. And yall know I love slinging those 4 inch swimbaits. Well I have had enough breakoffs this year to drive me crazy. I'm perrty stickler about cutting and retieing often but even with that it's getting to be a pain in the butt loseing so many expensive hooks. I have been useing 14 and 15 pound berkly big game for years now with these baits and I'm hoping there is a line out there that can help. I'm fishing shallow water 3 foot are less and lots of grass and wood. I been reading up on florocarbon line but not sure what I kind I should try. I cant use braided line because the fish see it (already tryed it). So after a bunch of reading I'm at this point. Should I go up from 14/15 to 20# big game or would a florocarbon line in the 14 to 20 pound range work better for me?
  12. Jigging spoon and those look like white bass too me. Still a fun fight and great eating but they look like white bass and not large mouth too me. At least that's what they look like on my helix7 mega down imager when they have a ball of shad locked up.
  13. I dont care about the grass, I can catch bass without it lol. For me I want the lake at 172 from early January till June. Makes it easier and safer too get around on the lake and puts enough water up in the bushes and lay downs for the bass too get up and spawn in peace from most of the fishing pressure. The rest of the year, I dont care if they keep it at 150 feet.
  14. Yes I remember that. I was standing on my dock in 6 inches of water catching white perch like it was going out of style lol. A freind of mine asked me if it's always been 172 feet or if at one time it was lower and they had raised it too 172 feet. I didnt know the answer too that question or where to find it.
  15. Catt. I have a question maybe you could answer. How long has 172 been the official pool level for toledo bend lake? Was "pool level" ever lower then 172?
  16. Well this afternoon was so weird. Got the boat back in the water around 2:30 and went see if I could get them bitting. I tryed swimbaits, weighted and unweighted texas rigs, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, soft plastic jerk bait, hard jerk baits. Nothing seemed too get them to bite. I knew they were there because they would bust some shad but just would not bite anything. So in a last ditch effort I picked up the ole black and red flake baby ribbet and well they went too town on that thing. Straight up smashing it. But back 2 in the 4 to 4 1/2 pound range and found a big girl defending a bed she came in at 5 1/2 ish pounds. Put back 9 dinks and was 1 bass short of my daily limit at dark.
  17. Well they done learned today lol 11 dinks, 5 nice keepers and 5 between 3 1/2 and 4 1/2 lbs. All came from biut a foot of water on a 4 inch swimbait in ghost shad color.
  18. That is very true. But the problem with that is the river has been putting nearly 3 times the cfs into the lake then has been going out for the last 6 days that sra has been showing on their website that all gates closed, no running generators and only 360 cfs water outflow at the dam/spillway gates. Not to mention the rain we just had. Now the water level has come up at my house in the last 3 weeks we have had right at a 5 inch raise. According to the sra website the lake came up a foot in the last week. And I can tell you from my own eyes and tracking it every day, it has not come up anywheres close too a foot in depth. Not to sidetrack this amazing thread but SRA is absolutely either lieing or they are embarrassing incompetent in their handling of the water control systems of the dam. On a side note the bass are still biting in the 2 to 4 foot range on watermelon red baby brush hogs rigged on a 3 size superfine hook and 1/4 once texas rig.
  19. Well what a wild day it has been for me. Started at just before daylight. Winds not to bad cloudy sky. Took off and hit some coves and was on the fish big time, not a lot of size but a few eaters. Fish are holding dang tight too any wood they can find and 6 inches of water for the most part. Very skiddish, all the tourney pressure the last few days had them on a knife's edge but I was able too figure them out. Later in the day the wind went crazy and so did the bite, I went threw 5 packs of swimbaits in one cove. Round 1pm started back too the house and nearly sunk the boat when I got side loaded on a stump. Got it back and unloaded, then headed for the ramp to trailer it because the weather fool is calling for lots of rain. Coming around the point into Gracie's landing I took on enough water to put bout 8 inches of water in the boat and had to kick on the bilge pump. Fished alone today so didnt get any pics but ended the day with 6 keepers all in the 14 1/2 to 15 1/4 length range. In total I hooked up and landed close too 60 bass and had atleast 20 jump the hook. No big girls today. Baits were kvd 4 inch ghost shad on some owner underspiner hooks.
  20. Had some freinds up to fish a few days. Started monday and fished till mid day Wednesday. Averaged 11 a day, first day 1 keeper, 2nd day 6 keepers, yesterday 6 keepers. No big girls. Not many fish up on San Miguel. We caught in 1 to 4 foot of water, most fish cruising on sand bars. As always fishing pressure is high this time of year. Baits used were sqaure bill cranks in pearl and black back and chartreuse/black back. 4 inch swimbait in watermelon red and ghost shad color. Went out alone today for a bit of a shack out run, had some motor work done yesterday, stopped at a cove close to the house, fish for 2 hours. Hook 5 out of 6 bites. Nothing legal length all bites came on a watermelon red swimbait. We need more water.
  21. And your point is? I dont care what someone ownes are how much money they have are how many throphys they have won. It's called class and that dude has ZERO. But thanks for your opinion.
  22. Dang Catt I'm flattered seriously bro. As for me I would fish with anyone anywheres anytime except for Mike Icinellie. You couldnt pay me too be in the same boat as that clown.
  23. Dang you giving all my secret spots lol.
  24. Water is low as of when I leavt for work sunday evening, so unless we get a metric ton of rain soon be prepared too not be in the back of coves fishing brush and lay downs. Still plenty of water at the staging areas at the cove mouths, so that's where I would start. I dont really use any internet provided water temp data, best too get it live day to day, as a sudden coldfront can change the water temps a bunch in a few hours.
  25. Cold but still fishable. Didnt fish just went took the boat for a preseason shakeout and do some graphing, to see where they are at. I got 51 at midday just outside north toledo state park and 50 at my house down towards the back of san miguel at dark.
