What weight mono/flouro for keepers?
When companies use a small piece of flouro or mono as a keeper, what weight line do you think it is? Obviously it'll vary but it's thicker than they sell in stores near me.

Fishing a floating Rapala at depth
Trolling rapalas is pretty common up here in walleye world. As @VolFan said, a longer lighter leader will help the presentation. I prefer to run them off a 3 way swivel with weight determined by depth. @Tucson are you trying to cast this?

Smallmouth Waters along the I-24 & I-75 corridor?
I can't speak to your specific question, but about two years ago Bassmaster magazine had a whole issue dedicated to the best bass waters in every state. There was a US map with all of them highlighted. If you can find the online version, you'll find something.

Out of commission for 6 months
I had my distal bicep tendon relocated a few years ago. Do you have a recliner? Sleeping in a bed the first week is rough.

Quick fire style spinning.
I have a quantum with a trigger from back in the day. Nice for teaching spinning reels, but just for learning. In my experience they're prone to loops and wind knots because the trigger makes you reel the bail closed.

The latest sale thread
Moondog Bait Company is having a B1G1 sale on some of their soft plastics. IMHO, these are the best panfish and trout soft plastics out there. Moondogbaitco.com

Snow Blower or Snow Throwers
If the tire pressure isn't even you'll pull to one side. @A-Jay Honda makes a nice blower. I used that exact model for a few winters on Donner summit. I found there are some drawbacks to tracks. Tracks are very situation dependent. You can't free wheel in reverse with tracks so if you need to do a lot of short passes or 180⁰ turns they're slow. They'll help a ton if you have to throw the same snow twice, but even a triple stage will bog down trying to chew it's way through a hardened berm.

Breaking-off during cast
Late fall. I was yo-yoing a small Berkley Thinfisher from shore. I had an 8' spinning setup and was at the heavy end of the rod rating. I went to really whip it out there and bumped the bail closed with a gloved hand. It sounded like a whip crack. I launched that Thinfisher into outer space. 😆 Try the Fish n fool too.

Using Juvenile Bass to Catch Adult Bass
Don't most fish species cannibalize the young of their species? For sure the Micropterus and Salmonidae do.

Seaguar R18
I searched but didn't see much discussion on this line. Is anyone running it as a main line? What does it compare to?

Do Lures Have To Run Straight? Yes, No, Not Sure & Why?
I tune but I'm not a freak about it. One thing I haven't seen mention is that a properly tuned square bill comes through cover much better.

Breaking down XXL water? 1 week @ Fort Peck.
I definitely wouldn't try it without a bug bivy.

That sounds like a story I'd like to hear.

Ice out tacklebox
This weird winter means I'm already fishing ice out in Montana. Only the local pond is available so everything I'm throwing is small enough to catch anything swimming in there. Currently tied on is a mini ned rig. Also in the box are: Caperlan MNW 90 Euro-tackle Nage Yo-zuri L minnow 1/4 Johnson Beattle spin 1/8 Moondog baits micro bladed jig I think I'll add a dropshot rod this week if it stays warm.

Breaking down XXL water? 1 week @ Fort Peck.
I have an opportunity to fish Fort Peck Lake for a week this spring. It's way bigger than anything else I've fished. It's the 5th largest reservoir in the US and has as much shoreline as the coast of California. That's way more than I can wrap my head around. I'll be based out of the Hell Creek campground. It's on one of the big arms in the south center of the lake. This seems like it may be the trip of a lifetime if I can get over the decision paralysis. How would you approach someplace like this? How do you estimate your gas range on longer excursions? Have any of you camped on your boat overnight?

A-Jay's Annual Ice Out / Open Water Countdown Thread ~ 2025-2026 Edition
The ice is out on the ponds in town. That makes the third or fourth ice out this winter, depending on how I count it. There are some advantages to this wacky winter in the moment, but I grow more apprehensive with each week. Fire season is going to be BAD this year. Montana is at about 70% of nominal precipitation. Wyoming is the same boat while Colorado, Utah, and Washington are in even worse shape. And, that's only half the story. Those numbers only track how much precipitation has fallen, not how much is frozen on the ground. There is no snow below 6000 feet. Above that it is equivalent to late April snow pack. Can I get some of your northern Michigan winter?

Williamsburg, VA spring break - what options
We are going to visit my sister in law's family over spring break. I am hoping to do a little fishing and I'm wondering if you find folks could give me the lay of the land. I'll be shore fishing and probably just a few hours here or there. I think the place we are staying (Governor's something) has a stocked pond. I also think I'll be relatively close to the James River. I'm open to other species besides bass if that's the recommendation. I'll have a 7' M/ML spinning travel rod and/or a 7'1" MH casting. Bonus points if the fishing is near a big playground. Thank you In advance.

How do you set your drag?
Last summer I lost a few when I set the hook with loose drag. This was with spinning reels so there was no chance to save it with a thumb. Now I keep them tight. I find it easier to back the drag off while fighting than to try and tighten it up. With casting reels I tend to keep it looser and rely on my thumb when needed.

Fort Peck Reservoir guide recommendation?
I can find a few folks via Google but would love someone recommend by the Bass Resource community.

Looking for a spinning rod.
Yeah, but what is a magnum medium light? To me, if something fishing is described as magnum or mag, I assume it's physically larger or more powerful than the original variant. I understand that in this case they mean that it is between a ML and a M, but for me magnum medium light is a contradiction and linguistically sloppy.
