  1. Chartreuse crankbait. Size, depth, and bill based on the cover you are fishing.
  2. Lucky Craft RC 1.5. Don't be scared of the $15 price tag this bait will flat-out catch you fish, worth every penny and more.
  3. I'm looking to buy my first "expensive" rod. I'm looking for 6'6" MH rod. This rod will be used for pretty much everything as I can't afford a bunch of specialty rods. Although this rod will be used for everything, I'm primarily looking for really good sensitivity for fishing plastics and such. I like the 6'6" length for fishing in tight places and wade fishing from shore. I think this rod will do the trick. Opinions? 4. I backlash the snot out of it and then cut it out. Very convenient, I didn't even know the line needed replacing!
  5. I have that book and still read it every now and then. It's an excellent book with a lot of great information that is very relevant today. It's also a bit dated and is missing some of the more modern fishing techniques and knowledge. None-the-less if you see it somewhere buy it, very good book.
  6. Or you're just getting older ;D
  7. I have a cheap handheld with no mapping. Works fine for fishing where you don't need to see roads, just need a dot where that lunker hides, or where that rock pile is you found on your sonar. Gets you back to the boat ramp at night too.
  8. Get the new marine STABIL (it's blue not red). http://www.goldeagle.com/brands/stabil/default.aspx I couldn't find it where I live so I ordered some off E-Bay.
  9. Check out this web site, you'll find a lot of info on fishing NC, and the forums are loaded with helpful people. http://ncangler.com
  10. I bought the lighter-weight version for cranking light cranks and it is wonderful. Caught several fish already it works great.
  11. Oh the humanity! ;D
  12. Ever wonder how Bill Dance is still alive? Amazing...
  13. When you see them heading up like they might jump, ease off the pressure a bit and often that will change their mind.
  14. Don't be afraid to get wet. You may need to wade fish the pond to get to some of the juicy spots.
  15. I'm pretty much self taught. My family was never big into fishing while I've always been obsessed. Lots of books, magazines, and fishing show.
  16. Going fishing gives me that excited crazy feeling like I'm getting ready to perform on stage or some thing. I get butterflies in my gut I'm so excited.
  17. I've fished power bait worms since they first came out years and years ago. They are fabulous and I highly recommend them.
  18. Heheh you'd think that bass would wait for a $5 spinner bait. When I take my son fishing he throws those $1 baits (so he lose them without driving me nuts) and he somehow manages to out fish me :-/
  19. Nice fish bro, here's wishing you many more
  20. Really neat, thanks for sharing!
  21. bass or bass do you ever have a problem with the resin cracking over time?
  22. Looks like I may have been wrong about charging at lower amps. A lot of batteries prefer a slow charge at low amps (i.e your cordless drill) but it seems Way2slow is right that larger deep cycle batteries like a fast charge at higher amps. I thought I read that if you take a battery down to nearly empty then a slow charge at low amps is best, can Way2slow comment? Also, if the battery is on it's last leg a slow charge at low amps may help with the sulphation. I'm just regurgitating what I've learned over the years I'd like to hear more from Way2slow he seems well versed!
  23. Usually I cast, then pull some line off the spool to allow for a free falling bait, then engage so I'm prepared to hook set if a fish hits. Sometimes I don't do this and I just let it fall on a semi-slack line. Just go with what feels right 8-)
  24. I built a floor for my Jon out of plywood. I first sealed the ply with two coats of water seal, and then glued the carpet to the wood. Glue stuck fine no problems at all.
