  1. Balance is easy to adjust using a spinning rod by moving your reel hand forward to change the pivot point and reduce tip weight. Tom
  2. Pallet interesting choice of word for lip! The lip shouldn’t break under normal use. XRap been on the market a few years you may have an issue getting them replaced but worth a try. Welcome to:BR. Tom
  3. I bought my son the same tackle as mine. Shimano Stradic 1000 in lieu 2500 for his smaller hands and Phoenix Iovino split shot rod when he was 10. Tommy took excellent care of his tackle and still used for 25 years. Today you can buy reels at a discount from JDM suppliers and save money and decent rods on sale domestically.* As long as the tackle is salt water safe suggest getting better quality rod and reel, he is your son a know him better than we do. Tom * Boys and Girls club auction was where I found Tommy’s rod & reel at a bargain.
  4. Not effectively, worm surfaces or rarely works, swimming a worm isn’t a starter, but bottom contact lure it excels. A top water lure like popper or dog walking, a mid column lure like a crank bait or swim jig and the T-rigged worm for bottom. Multiple choices for each top, mid water column and bottom, but not suggesting a panacea do it all lure. Can a worm work; sure rigged weightless on the+surface, change the hook to a keel weight and swim it, then change the hook add a bullet sinker and work the bottom, you may catch bass, ideal no! Tom
  5. KISS; top horizontal moving lure, middle water column horizontal moving, bottom both horizontal and verticals slower moving lures. Tom
  6. Make a habit of walk around the trailer when parking after launching the visual inspection often shows up loose trailer parts. Retightening nuts takes more time and only needs to be done about every dozen or so trips. Tires should be changed every 8 years regardless of wear. Tom
  7. Hope you all east half the country are staying out the 100+ heat today🔥 Tom
  8. A left coast perspective for Spotted bass is any green soft plastic with chartreuse tail for numbers, finesse jigs for quality and herring color pencil poppers for top water. Tom PS, we grow giant Spotted bass.
  9. Do you BSF rod & reel? Falcon Cara BSF rod is multi task finesse bass rod. Tom
  10. Only If it’s named after Catt! Tom
  11. You can chum the surface with meal worms or night crawlers and watch for ant fish to show up. Tom
  12. The OP clarified what he is looking for! Tom
  13. Lot to consider when adding several electronic components and suggest a good dealer do the work for you. You will save time and money when all is done. Batteries are very important and today’s lighter weight LifeP04 lithium marine are a consideration but need to be compatible with the OB you choose as a cranking battery and house battery for the electronics, TM will have their batteries. Tom
  14. Didn’t realize you were looking for a market. Tom
  15. TW has the original bone on sale, good color. Tom
  16. Being the water has always been a stress reliever, peace of mind to recharge me. Enjoy life on the water often it will not always be there. Tom
  17. I needed glasses for reading a long time and always had prescription polarized sunglasses. Today we have light weight shatter proof glass to choose from in lieu of polycarbonate lens that scratch. I bought my last pair from Costco, excellent quality at 1/2 the price of whatever lens type you are looking for. Tom
  18. Bite the bullet and use 2’ longer wire, splices in boats isn’t a good idea! Tom
  19. Pearl white in lieu of red for swim jigs. Try to match the predominate skirt color. Tom
  20. How do you define a drainage ditch vs a canal? Florida has hundreds of drainage ditches with good bass populations. California has a few year around water flowing around the Delta area. SoCal has a canal running for NoCal to SoCal and another running from the Colorado River to SoCal that has bass populations. Drainage ditches running into our reservoirs are seasonal and dry half the year. If the ditch has flowing water connected to a lake or river it could have have bass if a food source is available. Tom
  21. The US Open at lake Mead draws about 300 boats with Pro-Am format. The Elite Pros fish this event every year. Tom
  22. Yep, 4” Chigger Craw and 4” Hula twin tail Hula grub, my go to soft plastic jig trailers. Chigger in Green Pumpkin w/black flake Hula Grub in #221, 301 & 330. Several hundred, not anymore! Tom
  23. 9” to 12” worms I use Owner Cover shot HD 5/0 or Cover shot original 4/0 depending on the worm diameter not length. 6” to 7” size 3/0 cover shot original. The old saying bass don’t have hands applies to hook set, detect it set it! Tom
  24. I only own 1 Falcon casting rod the 7’2” BSF Cara it is the perfect rod to replace finesse spinning for bass. Drop shot, Slip shot, weightless 4” & 5” Senko, lures from 3/32 to 1/4 oz. See my 3 rod recommendation; 6’10” to 7’2” MF utility rod of choice. 7’5” IRG 754 Irod or equal 7’ 2” MHMF of choice. Tom
