Car in the sun can reach 135 degrees killing children and pets! Nylon max temp before it starts to creep (yield under pressure) is 105 degrees. What happens to plastic that creeps is cracking in areas under stress like fasteners without metal inserts. I wouldn’t store your TM in a hot car for serval days periods of time. Tom

BSF is now crossing over to Finesse lures, no end to confusion! Finesse is a presentation technique associated with light weight line, ie; Don Iovino the father of Finesse bass fishing. Sieberts Sniper jig has all the finesse jig design elements; Lion mane, compact size I would suggest living rubber added to the skirt. Trailers; 2” to 2 1/2” single and double tail** soft plastic grubs, 4” worm cut* to twin tail about 2 1/2 inches long. Keep the line down to 8 lb test and finesse the jig retrieve. Jig weight depends on water depth, current and line diameter to keep in touch with the jig. * use a safety razor to split the worm tails, push down on the worm laying on a flat surface is easier then trying slice straight. ** Yamamoto 2 1/2” Hula grub and cut the spider collar off when using a Siebert Sniper jig. Power is/was rated by lifting a dead weight to the point the bottoms out. Bottoming out is subjective let’s say bending to a parabolic curve at 90 degrees. You attach a weight with the reel mounted and line through all the guides and attach the line to a weight. Now lift the weight off the floor while letting the rod bend about 90 degrees. If a 1 pound weight can be lifted with the full rod bend the power is 1 or light. Repeating the lifting with 2 pound weight = medium light. Lifting a 3 pound weight = Medium power 4 pound weight = Medium heavy. 5 pound = Heavy 6 pound =extra Heavy. Since there isn’t a standard this is subjective. Tom

Sooo much misinformation regarding both mono and FC line regarding “stretch” both “stretch” about the same under pulling force; about 1/3rd there lb test. 12 lb test mono or FC it requires 4 lbs of pulling force to begin “stretching” 4 lbs of pulling force is about the lifting power of MH bass rods! What the angers “feels” as stretching is actually coefficient of line drag going through water, not line stretch. It feels like stretch so it must be stretching like a rubber band…false. What FC does is cut through water with less resistance and sinks vs floating like mono line does. Less line bow in the water is a more direct connection to underwater lures, advantage FC line. The other factor is most FC lines are smaller in diameter vs Mono line per pound test that also increases less line drag going through water. The issues with FC is lower line strength for equal diameter mono line and lower abrasion strength then mono combining to the perception of weaker line per pound test. &nbsp FC line use equal line diameter to mono line. I prefer FC line for bottom bumping lures like jigs and T-rigged w/weight worms. Otherwise a premium mono gets used. Tom PS, 12# avg FC = .011 D, 12# avg mono= .014 D.

DVL may have some insight to who’s who regarding reels do to replacement parts availability. The day of reel mfr’s making their own reels are limited to the high end models. I bought a Ark limited edition BSF reel and don’t have a clue who made but it has all the bells & whistles @ $150. Tom

Don’t over look a top water lure isn’t stationary unless dead still. They rolls side to side and some go under water a few inches when worked. Colors of top water lures are flashing in several directions and can make a difference in strike ratio. Tom

We are talking about fresh water bass where leverage isn’t a factor fighting or controlling them. If the fish weighs more then you do leverage could come into play, but even then the reel has a drag to even out the advance to the angler. Longer rod compared to a foot shorter rod of equal strength will have more bending length to apply force effectively. Tom

it’s not baseball casting is more wrist then arm. At 82 casting 40+ yards with my 6’11’ MH+F jig rod isn’t an issue for me sitting back seating, need to stand to over 40 yards so I don’t hit something behind me. Longer rod require more power to generate tip speed imo. Tom PS, I used football fields to know casting distance and a hula hoop as a target! I know the casting distance accurately not a guesstimate!

Back in the mid 50’s when I started bass fishing using bait casting bass rod were 5’3” and 5’6” with short pistol grip handles. The 60’s the same rods increased in length to 6’ with pistol grip handles. Rod length being measured over tip to butt. The pistol grip handles were about 7” long. The 70’s rod lengths went up another 6” to 6’6” and straight trigger grip handles about 12” long. The 80’s increase to 7’ with handles 14” long. Every decade a few inches longer overall length but the rod lengths went in front of the reel hasn’t changed a great amount do to longer handles for 2 handed casting. For what it’s worth my casting rods were 6’10” 12” handles for decades mainly to fit my boat front deck area. Making 40- 50 yards cast using 7/16 jig plus trailer had more to do with tuned reels and smaller diameter line. I see very little change in casting distance using a 7’3” rod with 14” handle a 50 yard cast is still max for me everything being equal. Now if you are talking 8’ swim bait rods casting 5 oz lures then the longer rod comes into play for casting distance over 60 yards is common. casting distance is more how the rod loads up the launches to lure with higher tip speed, more then just a lever. Salt water jig rods are around 9’ long to launch “iron” swimming jigs over 100 yards from a charter boat, not vertical jigging on the west coast for Pacific Yellowtail. Tom

I have only been using FC since Sunline introduced Shooter in 300 meter spools in the early 90’s. Seaguar 1st came out with leader spools we used in salt water a little earlier. Toray Blackwater Hi Test Bass was the FC to use back in the 90’s but became $35 for 85 yards. Sunline came out with Sniper for a lower price FC then Shooter around 2000* when Seaguar offered 200 yard filler spools of new grades for bass fishing with Tatsu being their top of the line, InvisX being equal to Sniper, Red Label their lower price line. Today Shooter and Tatsu 12lb, Sniper 7 lb are my go to FC line always with TangleFree line treatment. Tom * let the knot wars begin!

The OP already has 20 lb Red Label Seagaur FC line! Why suggest something else ? Agree 12 to 15 lb FC for general bait casting is good but the 20 Red Label is ok for a bait caster. Tom

Depends what you call a Bream? Bluegill are bream in most bass fisheries! Crappie spawn before LMB bass and nearly the same as Smallmouth bass start about 58 degrees. Most sunfish except bass spawn above 70 degrees or near the end of bass spawn. Tom

Spinning the line diameter affects what pound test Fluorocarbon or mono line you can effectively cast, my recommendation is .010 dia maximum. Using FC as a leader is common with spinning reels. Casting reels line diameter isn’t a major issue. FC has very high memory wanting to spring off the spool so line conditioner KVD is popular. Tom
