  1. Answer; 40 adult size bass per acre in a heathy pond. Tom
  2. How many adult size bass do think is in a football field size pond? Tom
  3. Try contacting your local Trolling Motor repair shop, they often have repaired motors that are abandoned by the owners. Tom
  4. Are you using heavy salt plastisol? If so it takes more pressure to fill cavities. Make sure your cavities are vented. Tom
  5. Just keep pulling the bass with your rod, don’t stop and slide it on the bank Tom
  6. A friend uses Silicone spray on braid claiming it works good…..? Tom
  7. Mono is nylon and hygroscopic meaning it absorbs line conditioner reducing memory. Fluorocarbon line isn’t hygroscopic and sheds water and line conditioners. KVD micro coats a thin film on the FC line allowing it to absorb the coating to reduce memory. Tangle Free is a wetting coating that reduces memory for Mono/Copoly line and wets FC, but washes off in a few hours. I simple reapply TangFree as needed. Fins braid has polyurethane coated fibers to eliminate color fade and self lubricates. Tom
  8. My only experience with northern Smallmouth bass is in natural lakes in Ontario Canada. In those lakes the Smallmouth prefer gravel wind protected areas to spawn and rocky reefs all summer. Weedy areas is where Largemouth were located. Our local reservoir Smallmouth bass also prefer gravel areas to spawn and generally deeper then LMB . Tom
  9. Depends on the lake forage and seasonal period. Football jig doesn’t work good in cover like the Delta has, better in the Foothill lakes with 3” to 4” twin tail grub trailers. Delta the crawdads are nearly black or dark red. Tom
  10. Fantastic birthday presents 😀 Tom
  11. Sit down on black seats in the sun wearing shorts will only happen once! Tom
  12. The one that got away is always the biggest bass you hooked! Welcome to the club. Tom
  13. I witnessed the San Diego lakes boom and bust so knew our local lakes could go through the same cycle. Casitas is coming back with tournament weights in the 30 lb range, it took 38 lbs to win last week. Central Cal has produced 2 giant bass 16.9 and 17.1 the year could be another boom period. Tom
  14. The bass in the water weighs close to nothing, out of the water it’s dead weight whatever the fish weighs plus it’s straggling to get free adding impact to the equation. You lift bass by the line if you let the line slip acting like your reel drag to get a hold on the bass. Palomar knots, lie any knot, needs to be tied correctly. If you twist the loop when putting the hook or lure through the knot will fail. Bank fishing just slide the bass onto the bank then get a hold on it. Tom PB bass over 4 lbs are more than likely females.

The hook set is lift and reel, don’t rod set! Tom
  16. Too many variables to comprehend regarding weather and fishing. Every weather frontal change is different and it’s up to each angler to evaluate for their location. The term “normal” weather conditions is different for every regional area and seasonal periods. A weather cold front is the backend of a low pressure front and the front of the high pressure system that clears out the clouds usually with wind creating bright sky. The wind and bright sky affects the fish activity differently seasonally. Complex topic. Tom
  17. Green pumpkin has taken over the “green weenie” era, they still work. Tom
  18. Keep mind the line capacity of casting reels is based on Mono line diameter FC is smaller diameter per lb test therefore increasing line capacity. Daiwa Tatula SV TW 150 lusts 140 yards of 14 lb ( .015D mono) line that equals about 150+ yards of .013D FC line. Tom
  19. Don’t want to kill this thread! <<<—-PB’ listed, lure Hair Jig “Anytime Anywhere” (black-purple-brown) w/ barn red pork trailer. photo’s; PM email will send them. Tom
  20. Any gear ratio with 26” IPT for lipless crank baits. Crank the slower or faster depending on conditions. Tom
  21. Run the line over your index finger while retrieving lures to feel any changes in lure movements or added and/or reduced lure weight. This nearly eliminated relying on the rod to feel strikes. Your finger far more sensitive then any rod and works with every type of rod material over your life time of fishing. Tom
  22. Ugly Stick is an entry level rod and should be OK to learn to bass fish with using moving lures. The reel and rod combo needs to be able to cast lures 1/4 oz to 5/8 oz. Don’t waste money on expensive braid line, suggest 10 or 12 lb Big Game mono. Go fishing and enjoy bass fishing. Tom
  23. Upper bass is close to 14 lbs! Tom
  24. Phoenix PHX-TX-C713ML K2 Torzite rod fits your application Tom
  25. Don Iovino no longer making soft plastics and Josh (Uptom’s Customs) is a good product but not reliable. Sorry to read about Double ZZ going out of business, good people. Tom
