Ultra Light is the rod not the reel. I caught a WR Pacific Yellowtail using 4 lb mono definitely not Ultra Light rod 7’ MHM rod. Tom

1. Accurately set your reel drag at 2lbs using dead weight* with 6 lb line. 2. Never reel against the drag when it’s slipping using a spinning reel. 3. Use the reel set with firm rod sweep and keep pressure on the bass. Lowering the rod tip to reduce bass jumping doesn’t work it does allow slack line to occur, not good! 4. If the soft plastic is slipping down into the hook gap consider using Owner Cover Shot worm hook or Finesse Twistlock Finesse hook. It helps to read the OP’s original post, he stated his aluminum boat was beached and swamped with water from waves. Then he noticed a flat tire on his trailer returning home. How this thread became a how to jack up a dual axil heavy trailer may be helpful but off topic. Tom

Factors to consider with IPT vs gear ratio. 1. reel size / spool diameter and line capacity. Gear ratio doesn’t change IPT does! 2. Size 100 bait casters with line capacity 12 lb @ 110 yards the IPT can change up to 40% after casting 40 yards and increase as you retrieve the lure. 3. Deep diving crank baits creat a lot of resistance when retrieved, lower gear ration helps to overcome the force. 4. Larger 300 size reel the IPT doesn’t change 10 % after casting 40 yards, consistent retrieve speed. 5.8 gear ratio using 300 size reel solves the IPT issue. Tom

The SeaSense Easy lift jack works OK or a scissor type jack if that is what you have. Brake loose the lug nuts a turn before lifting. When you beach your aluminum boat point the bow out and lift the stern onto the beach if boat wakes an issue. Tom

Get well soon, Your spinning tackle limits several suggestions or most bottom contact presentations. MH spinning rod can cast the lures but the line isn’t ideal to get a 3+ lb bass out of the cover from shore imo. You should change the leader to 12 lb Big Game your odds go up. Braid and wood can be a problem if the line cuts into it, not much you ban do about that issue using spinning tackle. Good luck, Tom

Wash with warm water and Dawn dish soap to remove oils. Buff with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Done. Not a fan of U40 sealer. Tom

The more a soft plastic looks like a real crawdads the less effective it works where I fish. Tried the Rage craws several times the bass don’t react to the faster claw movements as well the simple double tail Yamamoto grubs and Berkley Chigger craws. Nothing works better for me then the #11 and L4 style pork trailer, plastic chunks not so good. Tom

Like any line the diameter vary greatly per pound test. The reel level wind worm gear speed that overlaps the line prevents smaller line digging in. Tom

Winter storage needs to be considered, small aluminum boat could on shore flipped over on a pair on 4 x4’s or logs, no need to cover. Moth balls in a pie pan keeps most of the critters away. E Motor like Newport NT300, 3 hp, 36V looks interesting. Big tire type wagon easy to transport your stuff. Tom
