Bird's nest.
Another idea...If you have a beginner using your baitcaster.Cast it out and strip off another couple of feet then tape it off. That way the backlashes aren't as major.Heard that tip here and on BPS tv show from a female angler. That could save you some headache.

Just my luck... :(
It is my casting wrist..... :'( Looks like fishing is out of the question for awhile.I'm finding out how hard it is since I'm right handed.....I might just have to learn how to use my left hand now.

what should i throw here?
I'm experimenting the exact same thing you are. I'm fishing a small secret hole at work real close to the drain system and catching fat,fat 2-3 pounders in 15 minute time frame per lunch break. Believe it or not, Road runners are killers in this situation.I get more bites on this than stickbaits or any other lures right now.

Would like to hear everyones opinions on Shakespeare products
It will get you by if you are just a light weekend warrior. If you are an hardcore angler like a lot of us are here, you are better off spending the money on something that will last. I have yet to by a Shakespeare product of cheap quality to last. I have one combo which serves as my bluegill/panfish....gets used maybe 4-5 times out of the year...had for 3 years now....the reel is going out on it soon.

River Fishing
One of my favorite thing to do is tie on a jighead with a sabertail, cast it up toward current and let the current do the work. This can work for a lot of soft plastic techniques. This is one way to cover an area of the river real fast. You don't get a bite within 15-20 minutes move up or down the river a couple feet and repeat.

Powell vs Dobyns....???
Thanks Tom. I was beginning to wonder if Powell rods were really that bad.I have a 6'8" Spinning reel and mine doesn't feel tip heavy to me at all. It's my favorite rod right now to be honest. David P,you got me real curious about getting a Dobyn rod now though.

Is fishing harmful?
Is fishing Harmful? Not if you don't let it become harmful. That's my opinion. Use common sense when you fish. This includes everything in life.A piece of advice that will keep you alive longer.LOL Fishing relaxes me and keeps me stress free....I find that very awarding to my heath.

rubber worm types
Berkley powerworms were pretty much the only thing i fished for awhile there.I still use them here and there when the presentation calls for it.Curly tail worms hardly ever failed in getting me a bite.I've been favoring Culprit as of lately. I don't have much success in paddletail worms....lack of confidence in them are my problem.I don't think I'm working these things right either. As far as the standard stickbait go...Yum Dinger gets my vote.I love Yum dinger.I also favor luck e strike jogger worms as they are dirt cheap and very productive for me when the bite is ON!. Things to try this year are the rage anaconda and the Nemesis Sicko on a Zappu Inchi Wacky hook(the wiggle on this combo is just SICK!.

How to solve the drug problem
Last weekend I was fishing one of my spots.Somebody was smoking a blunt about 10-20 yards away from me...It was very displeasing to smell and concentrate on fishing without getting high off the smell as well.To me this is a lack of respect to everybody on the lake including people with kids. I don't see legalization a logical choice here....because people are going to be too hard headed even if it was and won't follow the rules that might even come with legalizations. I say it all the time to people..if you want to smoke go live in Amsterdam.
