  1. Yep. I prefer the dual also, most of the time. Mine have not been removable but having that option would be nice. Sorta like 4 wheel drive, there when you need it! Also, will take some HUGE waves to pull that Fortrex out of the water with that 60" shaft. Have 52" on my Champion now and it's never come close but I don't often run into anything like one might on the Great Lakes. Thought I might regret that longer shaft but now would not want it any shorter. Nice job setting up your boat!
  2. Nice rig! I'm curious about the passenger console, is that available as a factory option or one of your custom requests? I like it!
  3. Medium heavy/Mod fast gets my vote. Nothing is more versatile in the bassin' game than MH. I just don't care for mod actions, but mod fast is great for crankin'. I would go with standard fast actions before ever considering mod action for cranks. I just can't get on with rods that slow.
  4. My finesse cranker is a custom made by DVT Mike. I absolutely freakin' love this rod! Perfection. Talk to Mike about what you need!
  5. Yep, if the money is there, go 24v. I've had 12v, in fact still have a Minn Kota 55 from my old 16' Alumacraft and it is the last one I will ever buy. Hated that thing every time I used it. My old variable speed 48lb 24v had WAY more power than this 5 speed 55lb and would last WAY longer. I run an 80lb Maxxum on my Champion 191 Elite, can fish 2 days in moderate winds with no worry.
  6. St Croix Premier has 5'6" Medium and 5'6" light listed. I have the 5'6" Medium and have used it a lot wade fishing. My youngest boy used it for years when he got started, great rod but a bit more than your $50 budget.
  7. My favorite tube rod is the St Croix Avid 6'8" M/XF. Just ideal for me!
  8. HD wacky jigs.... Excellent! Good hook choice too. If you should have any extra's, I have some printed paper with pictures of dead Presidents on them if you'd be of a mind to trade.
  9. I'm seeing a bunch of these kinds of posts lately, not just with St, Croix but just finding fault with a particular brand and it being something stupid while referencing another brand that is just fine..
  10. Yeah, the rods are great for the price!
  11. How do you know this? I've often wondered who makes them....
  12. I've never heard or read that before.
  13. In addition to the standard pumpkin/green pumpkin variants, purple works pretty dang good for me. I've hammered a lot of smallies on Junebug colored tubes and cranks with purple on them. Smoke w/purple flake is another hot tube for me sometimes.
  14. I use Cabela's for everything. Hunting, fishing and clothes of all sorts, footwear, camping gear et al. Many days I am clad head to foot in their products and if it doesn't have their name on it chances are still good I bought it there. I just love the place and I'd be absolutely ticked if they go away.
  15. Oy! I'm not sure what good would come from this??
  16. I have an 8' M/F that I use for bobber/float fishing. I could use shorter rods for this but this one just works so nice!
  17. I won't buy used rods anymore unless they are local pick up. I want to be able to look them over before I buy. I miss a lot of good deals but I get over it.
  18. That LTX is a winner! I really like mine.
  19. In 2-3 yrs time report back on your finesse caster addiction/collection. It's a fun ride!
  20. Wow! That is just fantastic.
  21. I believe it will be. I just bought a lefty to try just for pitching. I won't get to use mine for awhile yet though.
  22. You shouldn't be but **** happens in the course of a perfect world. Spro will probably step up and take care of you in a situation like this.
  23. KVD is a sissy! By true definition you are correct. But years and years of the light line/small lure approach being tagged as "finesse" in bass fishing circles has resulted in todays definition. You accept it for what it is now for reference sake in conversation with others just to prevent confusion and useless arguments and keep the true definition to yourself. That's what I do anyway. Heck, anytime I'm dragging texas rig worms through weeds I'm finessing that worm et al.
  24. And, don't forget my favorite...Charlie Brewers Slider. Snagless Slider and 4" worm is deadly when they tuck back into the edges of the weeds. I didn't get started in the early 80's but I was into it before the end of that decade. Not only was it fun but it added another method of productive performance most were ignoring back then. I was told I fished "weird" because I'd break out the sissy gear in club tournaments and even though I did well with it, it still was ignored by the rest of the guys. I still enjoy it all these years later but never got into the finesse caster game seriously until just a couple years ago.
