  1. I've found this to make a tremendous difference on a bunch of my older reels. Amazing what replacement does, or in some cases just flipping it over. Learned of this years ago from David Green (Reel Mech). There is also one on the other end of the spool shaft too, under the bearing.
  2. I've slowly been creeping up in length over the years. I have 2 rods over 7', 3 at 7' and about 20 others from 6'10" down to 5'6". This is one of those areas where I'm way behind current trend....as usual. I'm slow to change what worked so well for me for so long even though advantages are noticeable for some techniques.
  3. I got into this BFS stuff last year or the year before and I've managed to collect a few nice rods and reels and had one beautiful custom rod built and I'm now trying to back off and away. It is wildly fun and beyond addictive. Be careful!
  4. I couldn't say in terms of feet or yards but my Lowrance HDS7's are pretty darn tight on the waypoints. Mapping is really pretty good on most lakes I fish though some are way off.
  5. I would get DVT Mike to build you a custom on a MHX crankbait mod/fast blank. The one I got from him is incredible, I was really surprised just how good it is!
  6. Hawg Tech has the 102mm and their Winn knobs are great for big hands. I have a couple of the 102's and they are long!
  7. Whats he gonna do with the old Fuego's. They are my favorite. Building a couple Fuego-Z's right now.
  8. If 23 was the smallest, what was the biggest? 23 would likely be around 7 1/2 lbs. Those are not easy to come by....
  9. lol...yep, that would probably be more exciting but I'm just not that quick anymore.
  10. That's going to be a fun combo!
  11. I like that length too. I have 3 or 4 spinning rods that length and 3 casting rods at 6'2".
  12. Nice handle on the Curado too How do you like the HawgTech Winn knobs?
  13. You should explain that so everybody knows what you're talking about. I'm pretty sure you mean spinning reels instead of spinnerbaits but even so, why do you prefer less bearings in a spinning reel? And what is your happy minimum?
  14. Put my boat away Saturday morning. Went creek fishing with a buddy (North Fork Zumbro/Spring Creek etc) for a couple hours and caught only creek chubs. Water levels are way low so it was tough. Funny how aggressive those little buggers are.
  15. I used it back then too and since it first came out, liked it then, like it now...for some specific situations. It is not my primary line.
  16. Did you catch that fish on a 7" PowerWorm? That's a nice one!
  17. Put my boat in storage today. I'm going huntin'....
  18. These are always good, and you can use lots of different types of bodies on them if you wish.
  19. LOL....They are hard to come by for sure.
  20. I still like and use Fireline for certain situations. Definitely not as limp as Power Pro though.
  21. Wow! Excellent buy! I wish I could take advantage of that deal...
  22. The only time I had consistent casting problems with mine was when there was 10+ mph winds. I then had to crank up the brakes and it often was not the answer. Otherwise about 30% brake was about all I ever used and it was a good caster in any winds under about 8 mph.
