  1. Does anyone know if the frames on the new Pro Max are aluminum or are they graphite?? If they are aluminum frame then I would have to consider them a heckuva deal.
  2. For the luck of their customers, they have crappy scales then. A good scale can weigh within . 1/1000 of a pound. My guess is they are just being generous which is completely admirable in todays market.
  3. Whats the difference in the bearings? There are the same number (10) of bearings, so are you saying they are cheaper quality or.....? The price difference isn't much so if they are cheapening up the components thats a BAD idea.
  4. And it is very progressive in my opinion. You can really feel the change with it, doesn't take big changes to feel the difference. Very nice in my opinion.
  5. You can get them for $49 at Gander Mountain. I don't know this for a fact, but I beleive the Gander "Giude Series Tournament" spinning reels are Pflueger President.
  6. I should be going fishing this weekend instead but I'm headed north for some grouse hunting. Dogs have to get started so they get "birdy" for the prime stuff in October and I need to warm up with my 20. So....off to the hunting shack I go. Ya'll have a good weekend. It's very possible I am done fishing for this year.
  7. I have bought 2 Garcia, 1 Daiwa and 2 Pflueger reels so far this year. Before that all I had was TD's and Shimano (still do) so my "impure" thoughts turned into pure sin I guess. No regrets
  8. I just bought my 2nd one last night and will have at least 2 more before Christmas. They are a helluva bargain at $80. It is worth buying them just to tuck away NIB so they will be there years from now if you need a new one. Cabela's had some TD Advantage HST153's on the sale shelf for $109 too. I might get a couple of those too, if not I'm getting Revo SX's. I just don't want a 7:1 reel on my spinnerbait/jerk bait rod.
  9. Man, am I glad you found and commented on this one! Seriously, I appreciate it. I'm going Revo.
  10. I am having a "reel" conundrum with my reel decisions. I have always been a Team Daiwa or Shimano guy. Bought a Revo SC not long ago and really like it, but I also have a new Team Daiwa HST 153 that I like just as much. I am sold on the low profile reels and intend on replacing my entire current fleet over the winter(except my 2 Castaics). I am either going with Revo SX or Daiwa Supertuned low profiles. The $10 difference in price is nothing so I have to make some decisions here I guess. I amn currently leaning on the Revo and the the only thing holding me up is that I have more actual time on the HST's. The popularity of the Revo's is amazing though. I have 3 Curado's(the old green originals) and 3 TD1's (1-Pi and 2 Hi) that I'm going to retire/replace to serve as backups. Those are going to get sent to Reel Mech for rebuild and packed away.
  11. I have probably 40 spinnerbaits and about 4-5 buzzbaits. I am like Raul and have very little confidence in buzzbaits and hardly use them. Spinnerbaits are a different story though. I have them from 1/8 oz up to 1 oz. I sometimes fish them as deep as 20 ft(3/4-1 oz) and have done well with them that deep. Most of them are 3/8 oz and 1/2 oz with different blade configurations. I have some 1/2 oz with willows as small as #4 on them that I like to rip over cabbage beds when the traps are not producing. I also like Hildebrandt blades, especially their willows.
  12. Couldn't find it. :-? I looked at Powerworms and they weren't marked on sale. Didn't see any plastics sale banner. How much are the 100 ct 7" originals going for? I pay $19.99 locally.
  13. Producto 4" craws Uncle Josh #11's Kalins 5" single tail grubs Kalins Mogambo grubs I spray mine with BANG crawfish if the fish are being picky.
  14. I think he was asking more about characteristic differences between a good and bad line. Give the kid something to chew on RW!
  15. I actually like 2nd's and kinks etc. They give the bait a unique action sometimes. I always figured Kinami's were Yamamoto 2nds or slight imperfections.
  16. Tough one for me as I'm VERY partial to my jigs, but....if I could only fish one lure for the rest of my life I think I'd choose a 7" original Powerworm in in either Blue Fleck or Junebug rigged with a 1/4 oz Thunderbullets brass weight and a Gamakatsu 3/0 hook. There are days when they won't hit a jig but they will always hit a worm. I COULD fish the rest of my life with just jigs and worms but I sure the heck wouldn't want to.
  17. I agree with Flechero but I'll go further and say I think all Loomis rods have $50+ of their price tag to reflect just the name itself, including the IMX. I feel the same about St Croix too but on a smaller scale. Maybe look and see if Shimano Crucial has the action/power and length combo you are looking for. I'm rather surprised how good these are for the money. Some have said equivalent to a gl3 but I think they are better. Maybe not quite as good as a IMX but they feel close to me.
  18. I'll try some. My only problem with XT is on spinning reels so I'll start there with the Yo Zuri. How does the original Hybrid compare to Ultra Soft? I didn't see any Ultra Soft at Cabela's last time I was there but they had Original. Is the Original tougher yet? More memory?
  19. JigMan, How do you set up your bags? Do break them down to different sized plastics, such as 4" worms in one bag and 6" worms in another? I need to reorganize mine, which means I'll have to get a couple more bags (if not 3-4 more) and am looking for ideas.
  20. I wasn't sure which forum to put this in, but anyway.... I was wondering if anyone else here uses these type of storage bags for their plastics. Been using these Producto bags for years and really like them. They also have a zippered storage pouch on the inside for your finesse hooks, splitshot etc. Extra internal bags available also. It is a product I really like and thought I would share and at the same time ask if anyone else uses these kinds of bags instead of hard plastic boxes. I currently have 3 used for finesse worms, Craws and tubes. The quality is excellent and the price is fair. Check them out. And no I don't work for and am not sponsored by them but I do really like their stuff. Then only problem is if you have multiple bags then you need some way to label them so you know which one you are grabbing out of the storage compartment in your boat. http://www.productolure.com/proddetail.php?prod=WB
  21. What about "stretch"? How does it compare to XT? I'll buy the part about memory being better but I'm real skeptical of it being better then XT in anything else. RW says it is, and he has me on the verge of buying it just to compare. I really don't think I could give it a solid, impartial, fair test because I'm really stuck on XT. However, I've read this enough times now I'm about to pull the trigger and try it anyway.
  22. I have 2 of them and have had them since they first came out, well 2nd year actually. They are my favorite reels for pitching and fishing jigs. Once you get used to the thumb-bar you look for it on every reel you own (even though it isn't there). For a 5 bearing reel they are super smooth and apparently built typical Shimano tough. Mine have been hammered on and are still going strong. I absolutely LOVE mine. However, aside from from pitching duties and fishing jigs, there are better choices. Such as if you intend to burn traps or spinnerbaits or other horizontal presentations. A Curado is much better here, or other low profile options. I just don't think they are the greatest on the long cast, but on the short or for pitching/flipping I love that thumbar. When I wear mine out I WILL replace them with another Castaic if they are available. Great workhorse reel!!
  23. LOL...I agree and am the same.
  24. Made me laugh, it did! Let me clarify that for you though. Only sissies use "light" spinning equipment, as in anything lighter then medium power. If it says "light" on it anywhere (and this goes for spinning OR casting) it likely comes with a free pack of french cut panties. By contrast, medium heavy and heavy action rods come with extra chest hair etc.
  25. Rapala and Bill Lewis for me(mostly Rapala though). All my Lewis hooks are replaced with VMC short shank, cone cut round bends.
