  1. I thought about getting it too, but it gets terrible reviews. The Garmin looks pretty good though.
  2. I would say that's too high for a 25 year old boat. Good motor, nice accessories but not worth that much.
  3. good luck. Spinnerbaits work well also.
  4. NMEA is the only way to link those two units. I believe all you will be able to share is waypoints.
  5. we caught about 20 Saturday night on Dale Hollow. Fished from 8 to 5am Sunday. Hair jigs in 12-20ft. Night time is best way to catch them there in the Summer.
  6. 55 would move it around just fine. I had 12v 30# on my buddies 20' pontoon and it was ok. I'd still recommend a 24v 70# variable speed TM. You can't have enough power.
  7. I have had both Oakley's and Costa's. The costa's were more expensive, than any of the Oakley's I've bought. I just sent the costa's back because the rubber nose piece came off after 6 months of use. IMO they are pretty poorly made for $250 glasses. I never had any problems with the Oakley's. I'm going to get another pair of Oakley's this weekend for my birthday actually. If you are dead set on the Costa's I would recommend the 580g lenses, they are very nice.
  8. Priest and Old Hickory are waste of time in my opinion. I only fish them if I don't have enough time to drive somewhere good. I live in Franklin which is about 20 minutes from the boro. I can be to New Johnsonville (KY Lake) in a little over an hour, Pickwick and Gville is about a 2 hour drive, and my favorite Dale Hollow in about 2.5. KY will fish just like pickwick, Old Hick will also fish similarly to it as well but with a lot more pleasure boats in a smaller area. Priest is ok from late October through the spawn, I'd go anywhere else during the summer. Dale Hollow is by far my favorite and its been on fire the past 2 years. From Thanksgiving through Memorial day the day time bite is real good, summer time through the fall is night fishing but I don't do much of that. I try to fish it at least twice a month during the winter and spring.
  9. Yeah, I know a few people who fished KY over the weekend and it was tough for everyone.
  10. you need nmea network.
  11. Not much to report about. Very foggy in the morning at Birdsong water was stained to muddy and 66 degrees in the morning. It finally burned off about 8:30 and I took off to dry creek where I had planned on spending most of my day. Hit a submerged log or something almost as soon as I left birdsong. Didn't think anything about it as I've got an aluminum boat and the hit didn't seem that hard. Hardly felt anything at all really. Continued on to dry creek and fished for about an hour. Went to leave and the boat stood straight up like I was trimmed up to high but it finally laid over and I took off. Went about a mile, hit a wake and water shot up through my drain in floor. Shut it down, hit the bilge pump, looked in the back compartment and everything (battery, charger, oil tank) was completely submerged. Got it on plane again and headed back to the ramp, got it on the trailer and there is about a 12 inch crack right on the seam below the passenger seat. Caught 1 dink and crappie.
  12. man that's what I like to hear. We decided to go to KY Lake now instead cause the water is so low in Pickwick and we we're worried the water would be too muddy.
  13. Anyone got some info about pickwick up around McFarland park?
  14. Catch a 5+. Got 8 over 4 so far.
  15. I was still catching them down to 38* granted it was a little tougher. They still eat, once it warmed up to 45* they started eating a lot better.
  16. I had a ram mount up front, but I recently replaced it with a precision sonar mount. The ram was ok but it would flop around in rough water no matter how much I tightened it down. The precision sonar mount is much better, it doesn't move at all. I have an aluminum boat also.
  17. I'll keep my curado 200DPV or E5 for deep cranking, or any cranking for that matter.
  18. Hire a guide! Summer time is night fishing, and August is usually pretty tough. Eastport is up the river quite a ways. I would not recommend trying to run around at night up there if you have never been there before. When the lights go out at Dale Hollow, you can hardly see your hand in front of your face. If you want to experience Dale Hollow, and catch some big smallies, go between March and May or Thanksgiving and New Years. It's a beautiful lake, but she will humble you real fast.
  19. those are the videos I was referring to.
  20. I found some videos made by shimano they seemed to be good enough and used the reels I will be working on (curado d). None of the reels are broken, they just need a basic cleaning. Thanks for your input.
