  1. I've been thinking I'll save a little more money and wait until the Labor day sales start and get a better rod. Been thinking a dobyns champion 702 would be a good choice. I will use it to throw the shad raps but also throw small hair jigs on, as well as do some trout fishing with it too. I found a Stradic FJ1000 on clearance thinking about picking it up also but not sure how well it will balance? Anyone opinions on that combo? Does the FJ1000 come with a spare spool?
  2. One of the best things I did for my tin boat was add a 24v variable speed trolling motor.
  3. I use a 735 for jigs, but the 705 was the best jig rod I ever had. wish I wouldn't have sold it.
  4. Nice idea but I think it would be more than I want to spend for a rod that wont see a lot of action 8 months of the year.
  5. I don't buy it. nice fish but not a 11#.
  6. I've never used a Fenwick before, had a m/f premier at one time that literally exploded on a hookset. Not saying I wouldn't consider another though, I still have a premier casting rod that's close to 10 years old now and still use it every trip. thanks for the suggestions.
  7. I'm looking for a rod to throw #4-#7 shad raps and similar crankbaits on in it winter. Currently, I use a 6'8 m xf crucial dropshot rod and it does ok but I want something longer. I missed out on an older 7'4 M crucial spinning crankbait rod and I don't believe they make them anymore. I don't want to spend a lot of money on this rod since it will only see use a limited amount of time. Any suggestions?
  8. I take mine to discount tire and have them do it.
  9. Sam Lashlee is a guide out of the New Johnsonville area.
  10. Not since I got a bigger battery. Before that I carried a jump box in case the battery died.
  11. It will probably still start your motor at 9.5v but it will draw so much it will shut your depthfinder off. I had a bunch of problems with my battery and depthfinders. The cranking battery wasn't big enough to handle all the electronics and accessories so everytime I would start the motor it would shut everything else off or restart them. I upgraded to a 31series agm battery and hard wired my electronics to the battery and it fixed all my problems. I fished all night last weekend at dale hollow with both depthfinders on, nav lights, and black lights and never saw the volts drop below 12.5.
  12. If they are generating go out and fish the river channel ledges. Throw something black like a jig and worm or a topwater like a popper. If they aren't generating tow your boat about 100 mi west to KY Lake lol. Sorry hate that lake.
  13. my first boat was a 12' jon boat I got when I was 24. I got my first bass boat when I was 28, once I was financially secure enough to afford it.
  14. While that might be true the difference in the cost between spinning and casting would off set tooling and make it equal in my mind. Any way I was really just thinking out loud when I asked that. I would like to hear Bantam1 's answer if he still frequents these forums.
  15. Why is it my $150-200 spinning reels come with a spare spool but my $200-400 baitcasters don't?
  16. called shimano $34 shipped.
  17. Yeah I figured it would about that much.
  18. I want to get a 2nd spool for my Chronarch 200e7 so I can have 1 with braid and 1 with flouro, because the rod pulls double duty as a jig rod and frog rod. Does anyone sell them or should I just call shimano? I don't need any fancy high $$ spools.
  19. Did you check the voltage at the trolling motor? I had issues with my trolling motor this past weekend and spent way too much time figuring it out. It is possible for your plug to be bad. With your motor on constant put your multimeter leads into the plug wires from the trolling motor. you can also do it through the head by pushing the probes through the heat shrink at the connections. Also your batteries at 12.66v are fully charged. *re-read where you saw 25.3v at the trolling motor foot.

  21. Dobyns Champion 735, Chronarch 200e7, 65# braid.
  22. Sounds under powered to me. I know I've seen them with a 150 on it. That would be a better choice for me anyway.
  23. I primarily throw spooks and Sammy's and was thinking it wouldn't be good for them because it sinks. I guess I will just spool up some braid and go to work.
  24. Does anyone use this for topwater? I spooled it up on my jerkbait/topwater rod late last fall and it's great line, I don't want to waste it. I normally throw topwater on 30-40# braid with a mono leader. Should I use it anyway or go with what I know works best for me?
