  2. No, I've thrown TN rig on 20# FC just fine. I've thrown the A-rig on it to but I would go up to 25 for that. I use braid most of the time though, and light wire hooks help get the rig back when you get snagged too!
  3. Or wait about a month and you can probably get a Dobyns champion series on sale at TW or some other website on the memorial day sale.

I've got a box of these already, they look pretty close to the same size.

Does anyone know what size treble hooks come on these baits? I had a 40# alligator gar destroy the hooks today, so I need to replace them.

  9. a black hair jig, or a big spinnerbait. You may get more repsonses in the southeast forum.
  10. I carry a battery jump box in case my cranking battery dies.
  11. I like fishing out of my boat, but I don't mind fishing out of my buddies boats either. I don't leave my gear in my boat anyway so all I have to do is get my rods together and put some boxes in my bag and go. I do like having all my gear with me, but sometimes I think I catch more and bigger fish with less tackle out of the back of my friends boats...
  12. Drinking, women, and work all take a back seat to fishing.
  13. I've got a 7' M/F casting rod. It was the first "nice" rod I bought. It has caught more big bass than any other rod I have. I use it for just about anything, but I really like it for spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, and traps.
  14. Lets see I can fish, KY Lake and Barkley in about an hr and a half, I can be to Chickamauga, Guntersville, or Pickwick in about 2 hr, and I can fish Dale Hollow in little over 2 hr. I think Tennessee wins!
  15. Keep my boat at my aunts house, I take everything out of the boat before I drop it off, and she even lets me charge the batteries there if I need to but I try to do that my place before I drop it off.
  16. Thats a bad dude right there! I've used my partners a few times and its sweet, I still like my Loomis BCFR 954 GLX more though.
  17. It's cheap for a reason. Spend the extra $8 and get Berkley or Seaguar.
  18. I'm throwing it on a curado 200e and its been fine, so you should be good.
  19. I might add its more than just a transducer. The box allows you to network your units together so they can share waypoints, transducers, etc.
  20. I just bought the LSS-2 last month because of the rebate and doing a little shopping I ended up getting it for less than $400 when its all said and done.
  21. Yes you can get SS and Downscan with your HDS 5 gen 1 all you have to buy is an LSS-2 unit, which they currently have a rebate on. I have 2 HDS 5's (Gen 1 and 2) networked together through the LSS-2. I would love to have an HDS 10 but it works just fine with the 5's.
  22. Thanks fellas. I don't think they are worn out but they definitely need to be cleaned. They are still as smooth as they were the day I put them in. I guess I will just leave the seals off.
  23. What do you guys use to take the seals off with? I've got 2 reels making a loud squealing noise on a long cast I think they need to be cleaned. I have run them dry since I installed them 2 years ago, and I would like to continue to do so. A drop of oil will take care of the noise but I think I get better casting distance running them dry. Do the seals go back on easily once you get them off?
  24. Good luck. I'll be there next week. The fishing has been pretty bad this fall/winter, hopefully the warm weather this weekend and next week will get something going.
  25. I throw the big hammers on a slow 5.1 curado and reel as slow as I can stand it. When the water warms up a little more I throw them on 6.2:1 reel but still try to reel as slow as I can. They have a really good action at slow speeds.
