  1. I looked over Aaron Martin's profile on another site and it lists Sun Line as one of his sponsers.
  2. Has anyone used these yet? Just sounds like a gimick to me but thought i'd ask before I buy some.
  3. The problem with ice fishing for Largemouths is that in my experience they don't really group up as some fish do such as crappie, sunfish, walleye. And they don't roam as much as northerns do so ur presentation is not really in the front of a lot of fish. I'll stick to tipups for pike.
  4. I prefer fluorocarbon lines such as 8# Vicious fluorocarbon. But a friend of mine uses 8# Power Pro w/ a 10' fluorocarbon leader. He says that becasue of the no strech braid he can feel bites better and the fluoro leader keeps his presentation natural looking.
  5. One thing I would like to add is don't go to every lure, rod, reel, boat, ect. company and sell them the same speech. Only go after the companies that you have confidence in the products. It makes selling and representing their products soo much easier. Most people hate sellouts who are just making deals w/ anyone they can get to make money. The articals RobbyZ5001 suggested are awesome and they have helped me a lot in getting the sponsers that I am grateful to have.
  6. BEST CRANKBAIT EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. I don't think I will ever buy one. Y should I when the $4 crankbaits and topwaters are working wonders for me. I think i could use that $20 on gas or for 5 lures instead of one lure instead. just my 2 cents
  8. The top two on the right kinda look like Jointed Rapala's that have been custom painted.
  9. Instead of Big Game u might want to consider Vicious Ulitimate in 12#, Vicious Fluorocarbon in 15# for the Texas Rigs, 10# Vicious Fluorocarbon for crankbaits, and either 20# fluorocarbon or Ultimate for the spinnerbaits. The Power Pro is fine except I use the 50lb.
  10. Ever since I read the article of how KVD is able to make superhuman long casts, I've switched to the 4000 series Symetre. IT is a WORLD OF DIFFERENCE! The line also has less memory because of the increased size of the spool.
  11. I reccomend Vicious flourocarbon. I like it because its not very expensive, it is very sensative, and managable! I fished it on spinning gear the last 3 months and I am very happy with the results.
  12. I think that there is no limit to the temps. I do this because once late November, early December comes the lake is frozen over. I catch them on deep cranks from 60 to when the water freezes over!
  13. Shimano hands down. Although I have not fished the President, I can't find a reason why to leave the citica. If you have heard of the old curado's then you should know that the citica d's are pretty much like the them. They are the new workhorses of the Shimano line in my mind.
  14. I currently own a Nitro 640LX. This is my first real bass boat, and yes there are a few things that I would change, but I believe that happens with every brand. If you take care of it, it'll last for years. No complaints so far about my Nitro. It all comes down to personal preference. Look at KVD. He is currently #1 on another sites World Rankings and he runs a Nitro. Same thing can be said for Rick Clunn. It all comes down to preference. However, I do plan on getting a Bass Cat in the future because of their reputation.
  15. Stick to cable steer! Digital takes FOREVER to turn directions. More prone to breaking. The only thing that I have had to replace on my cable steer is the cable which broke after 8 years of hard abusive use. Cables are the only way to go.
  16. A good coplymer that i reccomend is Gamma. Its strong, abrasion resistant, easy to cast, ect. Yes Halo is a flourocarbon. You might want to try a braid such as Power Pro. All of my reels are spooled with it because it allows crankbaits to dive deeper, sensativity is awesome on any rod. If you think fish can see it add a 2 ft leader of flourocarbon.
  17. I only use baitcaster for crankbaits. If you want you can use 2 lb test on a baitcaster, it doesn't matter. They put those minimum line capacitys as a guide line. Most baitcasters are spooled with 12# test or more but i use 8# test for when i want to get a crankbait deeper.
  18. YOU KNOW OUR A HARDCORE BASS FISHERMAN WHEN: (some are serious, some are for fun) *Your out fishing while everybody else is watching the Super Bowl! (Thats what they made VCRs and DVRs for PEOPLE!!!) *Your favorite song is "The fishing song" by Brad Praisley *Your weekends consists of: 15 hrs of fishing, 8 hrs of researching the sport on bassresource.com, and 1 hr of sleep! *You get up real early in the morining to go fishing so your wife can't stop you and make sure that you are going to the in-laws. *When a heavy set man walks past you, you see the world record Largemouth walking past you instead and try to tackle him so you can get him certifide! *You complain when spending $35 to fill up your car that gets 50mpg, but think nothing of it when filling up your truck that gets 11mpg and ur boat with $130 worth of gas. (happens all the time) *You pray the Rapala "Fishermans Prayer" every time you go fishing. *You spend 7/8ths of your life on water. *You blow off your date because your buddy wants you to take him for a ride in that new Bullet w/ a 300hp Merc of yours to prove to him that it can go 100mph! *You believe that Kevin Vandam is actually a prophet from the bible. *You don't care that the ice is 6ft thick, ur going fishing! *75% of your annual income is spent on fishing gear, gas, ect. *You don't care what the weatherman says, a hurricane ain't going to stop you from fishing.
  19. I spray B.A.N.G. on my hands and rub it in like i would sunblock before I pick up a fishing rod just before the fishing day begins. I believe it conseals gas and other odors. Plus, it allows my lures through weeds and brush easier. Plus on those expensive plastic swimbaits, the extra lub helps in keeping the sandpaper teeth of bass from tearing and "sanding" away the color.
  20. To me, fishing and owning a boat is a very effiecent use of my money. I compared what it would cost to go fishing vs. going to a movie. Figure this: Fishing gets you 8-14 hrs vs. a movie that lasts 3 hrs max. So using current gas prices where I live: Gas: 3.04 per gal. X 24 = 72.96 Oil: $30 Total price= $102.96 That lasts to me an average of 2 weeks. 14 days x 8 hrs. = 112hrs of fishing 102.96 divided by 112 = $0.91 per hr. for boat gas. Truck: 11 mpg when towing, 16 when not towing Gas: 32 X $3.04 per gal. = 97.28 (can go 352 miles before filling) Average distance to lake = 6 (note this is an average because i have 2 lakes less than 2 miles away) 97.28 divided by 352 = $0.28 rounded up. thats the price to go 1 mile .28 X 6 miles = $1.68 to drive to the lake and another $1.68 back Total = $3.36 for towing each time 3.36 X 14 days = 47.04 in gas money spent towing the boat until you have to fill up the boat. Take 47.04 + 102.96 = $150 take 150 divided by 14 days it = $10.71 a day to go fishing in a boat. Take that 10.71 divided by 8 hrs it = $1.34 for an hour of fishing For a movie that lasts 3 hrs. figure : $6 for ticket $10 for candy and pop Total $16 to go to a movie for 3 hrs. Take $16 divided by 3 hrs. and that = $5.33 per hour!!! Thats not including the gas you use to get to the movie theater!! As You can see, it is by far a more effiecent use of my money to go fishing for 8 hrs and spend money to have fun vs the cost to go for a 3 hr. movie. Now i know i didn't include insurance, and monthly payments, but even if i do it still won't go over the price per hr. to go see a movie. Especially if the boat is already paid for or if you boat a used bass boat for around $13,000 or less. So until the cost of running a bass boat goes above this I won't sell. It would probably take gas at $9 a gal. for that to happen. Even then, I can cut prices by switching to a 4 stroke or a DFI and spending more time on the trolling motor than running the outboard. And still because i love fishing so much, i would take the hit in the wallet even if this did happen.
  21. Not much in the boat. I'm guessing 120 gals for the boat that has a 90hp Yamaha 2 stroke. That # would be alot lower if i didn't fish tournaments because then i run wide open (6000rpms at 46.7mph). Otherwise at 4200 rpms and 33.1 mph is fast enough for fun fishing. Otherwise my belief is if ur not on the trolling motor than ur not catching fish. Thinking of switching out to a 90hp Mercury Optimax. The real killer is driving to the lake in which I think i used about 600 gals.
  22. if you want u could buy a 18ft or smaller glass boat. Most 18 footers have the same beam as a 20fter. My Nitro 640 LX is an awesome boat has it has a wider beam than tin boats and it can handle big & small lakes, I've gone through 5ft waves with it w/out getting wet. Or you if u want a tin boat i reccomend Xpress. Not only do you durability, but it can outrun some glass boats, i know because i've been in a few that outran rangers, nitros, and a few tritons.
  23. I think that the Chronarch is better mainly because the two extra bearings make it a bit more smoother. However, I love my Curados. Personal choice is up to you.
  24. I love flipping tubes, Berkley Power Hawgs, Sweet Beavers, and Yum Wooly Hawgtail.
  25. I use a 7ft MH St. Croix Avid. If that price is a little high than I reccomend a fiberglass 7ft. MH St. Croix Premier.
