  1. I swear by Gulp!. Whenever I finesse fish I use Gulp!. When the fish are actively biting I switch to the cheaper Powerbait which can take more abuse than Gulp!. However, when i need to finish out a limit than Gulp! will get you the bites that you need. I believe that the fish can smell it from father distances than the regular Powerbait, Zoom, and Yum.
  2. Actually the Z-7 with a 200 Opti and all the options I choose only goes for $34,000 with frieght and prep. The Z-9 however, is almost $50,000.
  3. I agree with Crestliner2007. I use 10lb Power Pro which has a diameter that is the same as 4 or 3lb test.
  4. I use braid on a falcon rod and a BPS rod and I have found that the Falcon rod was much more sensative!!!! I'm planning on getting rid of my BPS rod.
  5. Make sure to ask for a compression test on the outboard. Also, if possible try to see if you and the owner can go on a test ride. I never buy a boat w/out taking a test ride especially if the boat is that old. Make sure u look at the articals cart gave u.
  6. I was wondering which do you guyz use the most. The cylinderical shape or the regular round weights? What are the advantages to each and the disadvantages?
  7. Gulp! Nightcrawler. as for shakey heads I make my own.
  8. I don't know about you guyz but the new Nitro Z-7 and Z-6 look AWESOME! I'm so glad that they replaced the 591 and 482 with these. Not that I didn't think the 591 and 482 aren't good boats its just that the consols looked sooooooooo ugly with the tiny windshield. They might as well save some money and sold the boats without them. Glad though that the new Z-7 and Z-6 have a more traditional bass boat consol look to them. Can't wait to get a Z-7 with a 200 Opti. www.nitroboats.com
  9. The only use a Powerdrive or simular trolling motor is good for is for walleye fisherman who use it to save gas. When I bought my Nitro the previous owner had a Powerdrive on it and I imediatly replaced it with an All Terrian cable trolling motor. I've recently replaced the 55lb All Terrian with an 70lb Edge and have no regrets. I'm having trouble selling the Powerdrive because nobody wants it. So unless your a walleye fisherman get a cable steer trolling motor. Another thing to consider is that it takes alot more time and effort to get the Powerdrive out of the water.
  10. I have a Lowrance LMS 334c on a RAM mount on the consol and a Vexilar FL-18 up front.
  11. I'm sorry but that has to be a hoax. IF there was a pic than i'd wouldn't waste my time and check that boat out asap.
  12. Its all about personal preference. For me, i grew up using shimano reels and thats wats most comfortable with me. When i pick up a different reel brand it just doesn't feel right to me. I can't see myself fishing for 8-12 hrs. with a reel that i have no confidence in and am not comfortable with using. So SHIMANO all the WAY!!!
  13. MK hands down. Not only is Minn Kota quieter but I love the fact that my transducer is protected by the skeg. I recently bought a new 70lb MK EDGE w/ a 60" shaft for only $649. Im not sorry and i'll never buy a MG ever!!!!
  14. I love my 90hp Yamaha but im somewhat have trouble finding a good prop. The current prop on it is a 13X19 aluminum Yamaha prop that turns on my outboard at 6000rpms and pushes my boat 45.3 mph wot. However my owners manual says that the max rpms my outboard was made for is 5500. I've been saving to buy a stainless steel prop but i know if i get the same pitch and diameter my rpms will increase. I've talked to my dealer who says that it won't hurt my outboard if the rpms are at this level. So i went to the prop selector on the Mercury website and the prop it selected that i should be running is a 13.5X24 LaserII. However when looking at my outboard it doesn't look like a prop that big would fit. So I was wondering if I should buy a ss prop on what the dealer says and have my outboard spinning faster than what it was made for or go w/ what the Mercury website says? Thanx for any advice.
  15. Another rod i would definatly check out is a 6' 10" Heavy action Falcon Cara. This rod is VERY LIGHT, isn't too stiff, is long enough to flip and pitch comfortably yet, u can cast jigs and plastics a very long ways if u happen to need to get a long accurate cast out at a fish busting the surface. If the price is a little too much for u (can't remember the price think it was around $140) then check out the 6' 10" in the Falcon Lowriders or the Original series. ;D 8-)
  16. U know, i completely forgot the Silver Minnow. Since u brought it up u reminded me of all the fish I use to catch on that thing, especially the gold plated ones.
  17. I agree with cart7. This thing will definatly be a slug w/ a max of 115. My Nitro 640LX w/ a 90hp Yamaha outran a 17ft Ranger w/ a 115 by a long shot recently. Stratos boats are just as heavy as rangers and since this boat is a 18' 9" my Nitro won't break a sweat passing this thing. Stratos really has to make some changes in there max outboard possibilities before anyone should think of buying one. Most 18 footers have a max of 175 to 200. A 115 is pathetic. Its exactly what i thought of the Stratos176XT. A heavy boat under powered even at the max rating.
  18. I second JigMan, totally worth the money.
  19. I really don't believe in line visibility at all. The way i see it a fish will see the bait before the line and all of its concentration goes into looking at the bait. If the fish did than please explain why to me that fish will bite a lure tied to yellow line such as Suffix. I do however think line diameter is a concern because i believe fish can dectect the water being moved by the line. Just stick w/ clear line to be safe.
  20. Gulp! is way better than powerbait. I can't catch a fish on powerbait but they love a Gulp! Nightcrawler fished on a dropshot.
  21. One last suggestion, Triline Sensation. Very sensative. however power pro is always a great choice.
  22. Most of my jig fishing is flipping them into trees and under docks. let it sink to the bottom and give it a few quick hops then let it go to the bottom again . repeat till the bait is beneath the boat then retrieve it and flip again.
  23. I only run Minn Kota trolling motors on my boat but no trolling motor is completely weedless. However if ur talking about weeds wrapping around the prop then the answer is yes, I have yet to unwrap weeds from around my prop. The only place i have to get weeds off is the trolling motor shaft. I think wat makes them weedless from the older style props is the bent blade tips and how they fit on the trolling motor. thats the only explanation i can think of.
  24. Honestly I'll never buy a DT crankbait again! > The first few that I bought the diving lip broke off the bait in the first 5 casts. At $6-7 a bait that is wrong!!!!!
