  1. He just doesn't want you to have the fun of fighting a 3lber on a ultralight!! Believe me ITS AWESOME!!!! Also, you can backreel. I think the line will break before the rod. Also, if the rod does break from you fishing the warranty will still be good. You have to worry about the warranty when you slap the rod against the boat and it breaks. Have fun!
  2. Gamakatsu EWG on square bills and regular on the rest.
  3. Super glue those stupid worthless things so that you only use the standard baitcaster. IF you try to make a regular cast with the switch on than you can seriously damage your reel. Trust me, been there done that.
  4. I reccomend a 6:3.1 ratio for everything except cranking and slop fishing. In those cases use a 5:1.1.
  5. There is no difference between the two. Mono is made with one strand of material while copoly is two strands of material fused together. So with that in mind I think its just a marketing hype if you hear copoly is better.
  6. Cabela's sells unpainted Do-it Mold shakey heads and thats what I use. I just ordered the mold and I'll be pouring my own.
  7. Ryan, thanx alot dude! You have really helped me figure out which swimbaits to try out. Thank you for spending the money to help others save some $. Glad to have a fellow Minnesotan on the board!
  8. Power Pro in Moss Green. Then P-Line fluorocarbon.
  9. send it to a proffessional reel cleaner
  10. I think your crazy if you can't feel your lure. for crankbaits you need to feel the wooble, feel what kindaof cover ur bumping ect. Spinnerbait, I need to feel the blades moving. Jerkbait, I don't use any so yea. If you can't feel what your lure is doing you can't paint a mental picture of what is going on around the lure.
  11. Kevin Vandam accurate is what I call accurate! 40yds away he can put a jig in a coffee cup on a windy day.
  12. I have tried various fluoros in the search for the perfect one. My favorites are Vicious and P-line 100% fluorocarbon. The P-line I believe is THE BEST fluorocarbon out their. Its strong, abraision resistant and casts so much easier than the rest. I also like Vicious for carolina rig leaders and for times when I can't afford to pay the $16 for the P-Line.
  13. They say when a crawfish moves around in the water its joints make a clicking sound. A rattle imitates this so I always use the rattle. I have yet to catch a fish w/out one.
  14. 14lb Triline Sensation or 15lb Vicious Fluorocarbon.
  15. I was wondering if these spools of Cabela's fluorocarbon are really made by seagur and if they are just as good as the regular seaguar fluorocarbon?
  16. Vertical rod rack w/ reels mounted (for some reason) and w/ a rod sock.
  17. Good ole green Bantam Curado's. They are practically irreplaceable, uncomparable, and indestructable! My next fav. is the Citica D.
  18. 7' MH Mod. St.Croix Avid, 50lb Power Pro
  19. I use 50lb Power Pro for swimbaits. Here in Minnesota the lakes are clear but I don't think the bass care about the line because they are concentration on the big swimbait that is passing by them.
  20. My backing line consist of cheap bulk spools such as Big Game or the new Stren Blood Red. I think the line does spool better when you use the same diameter but thats just my experience. I always super glue the knots anyway so I don't think the knot can get anymore stronger than that.
  21. Right now I'm transitioning all of my line to braid. So I'm going to be using 10lb Power Pro this year, however last year I loved throwing cranks on 10lb P-Line Flourocarbon.
  22. You might want to consider using Pro's Soft Bait Glue.
  23. If its mono, flouro, copoly once a month should be enough. If its braid, leave it on until there isn't enough to make a cast on the spool. If you fished 4 or more days like I do, you should change every week.
  24. I always set the hook right away.
