Tournament shirts
I dunno, kinda silly to wear a ranger shirt EVERY TIME fishing. But than again if your loyal to the brand and it makes you look good go ahead and wear it. I like my Yamaha jersey and they don't sponsor me. I wear it because it came w/ my outboard when I repowered my boat and its quite comfortable.

When is a good time to change your line?
Being a tournment fisherman, I change my lmono and fluorocarbon just before every tournament. However, since I started using KVD Line and Lure Conditioner I've been able to drop back to once every 2 tournaments. As for braid, whenever it gets too low to make a long cast I swap it out and put fresh braid on which happens maybe once every 2 1/2 years.

difference in motors
There really wouldn't be much difference in power. The only differences is engine wieght which means you may need a different prop than the what the other one may require and mpgs! Saying this the Optimax usually gets around 5 mpgs while the EFI gets around 3. With gas prices these days the optimax would be the way to go.

Giving up on swimbaits....?
I haven't jumped on the expensive swimbait bandwagon just yet. I guess I'm the only one that catches alot of 3 to 7 lb bass on the Storm SwimShads ;D eventually though im going to be ordering some mattlures.

Bass Pro Extreme Rod
If the extremes are like the Pro Qualifier I have than I would pass even if it was on sale.

Frog rod for under 100 dollars?
I would have to say any flipping stick would work all right. However in this price range I would have to say a 7ft MH or H Falcon Original would be a good choice.

Mercury Two Strokes
I would have to say go and buy the optimax version. Even though I don't run mercury I would go the DFI way. I just wish yamaha made a 90hp DFI version of the HPDI.

Diamond Shad Eyes
So I bought a few Strike King Diamond Shad and after I caught two fish I sat down to retie. When I did this I noticed that both of the eyes had come off. Is this typical of the Diamond Shad? Doesn't strike king use an epoxy when they glue them on. It kinda made me mad to know that the bait started to fall apart after only two fish. Granted it didn't effect the action of the bait and they fish didn't seem to care much because I continued to catch fish. It just hurt its eye appeal to me.

Swimbait rod for Affordable price
I agree on getting a telescoping flipping rod.

Line suggestions
Power Pro would be a great option. I would use a fluorocarbon leader w/ P-Line but I do have some friends that fish with just braid for everything.
-
P line Fluoro
It is without a doubt in my mind that it is the greatest fluorocarbon on the market. Its cheaper than 100% Triline, but it handles better and in my mind more sensative. It is the only line that i use now w/ the exception of Power Pro braid!
-
Berkley Sensation Line
Before I switched to P-Line, Sensation was the only line I would use! It is a very good line and I reccomend it to anyone who is just started into fishing.
-
Gas prices
Still waiting for an hydrogen or electric powered outboard to be invented before I buy a different boat.
-
Gas prices
In Minnesota gas is currently 3.739 where i live. This year I won't be doing as much prefishing and I'm going to use the trolling motor more and resist the urge to crank up the 90hp Yamaha and run around the lake.

Flipping Stick/Frog Rod from a small boat???
Either one would be a good choice, just depends on how well it feels in your hands. The telescoping rod would help for storage wise but I'd have to say for your situation I'd go w/ the 7ft.

berkley vanish translucent???
STAY AWAY FROM VANISH!!!! Everyone that i've talk to says it sucks. I use P-Line 100% fluorocarbon which retails for 14.99 to 21.99 for 250yds and it is alot better.
-
Flourocarbon Manageability
I use mainly P-Line 100% Fluorocarbon. It is very managable, a little stiffer than mono but w/ the proper reel adjustments it works just as well as mono. I spray KVD line and lure to it to make it even more managable.
-
Used fishing line
Most of the tackle shops send their used line bins to Berkley. From what I've heard, Berkley uses it in their research for new line development. Don't know if thats true or not but they must use it for something because on their packages it says to send used line to their address.

What size line
For spinning would use 8lb P-Line Flurocarbon Baitcasters: 12-15lb P-Line Fluorocarbon or Evolution.
-
line?
For the Worm and crankbait I use fluorocarbon. 10# P-line fluoro for the crank, 15# P-Line for the worm. Topwaters I use 14# P-line Evolution Copolymer.

Water temp 59.6, need tips on what to throw?
Rattletraps and jigs are my main producers for water temps near 60 degrees

Unfair Braid is....
When money is on the line, braid is the way to go. However, even if you do get a fish to bite the lure it still has a chance to throw the hook, you try dragging a 8lb bass out of a grass mat that is so thick you swear you could walk on it.
