  1. I pour my own jigs, that way i get the features i like in a particular jig. The only jig i don't pour is football jigs. For those I use Chompers.
  2. Any infomercial lure aka banjo minnow. Otherwise my next choices would be chatterbait, jerkbaits, and flukes.
  3. Another option could be a full face paintball helmet. Haven't had a problem yet using paintball helmets. ;D
  4. sorry guyz but to me its just unnatural in my mind to fish a frog w/ confidence in water that cold. Today, i was fishing water that was in the mid 40's and couldn't get a bite on the frog fished sloooooooooooowwwwwwwwww. Switched to a trickworm w/ a 1/8oz. wieght and flipped it on 50lb braid and caught 10 fish between 1 and 5lbs in about 30 mins.
  5. Everyone I've ever talked to who owned a Motorguide says they wished they got a minn kota. Also, its been my experience that the MinnKota seems to be alot quiter when its running than the motorguides.
  6. I just replaced my trailer bunks w/ ones that i made out of lumber and indoor/outdoor carpet. Two 7ft bunks and two 4' bunks for my Nitro. total investment for it was roughly $20 altough it cost more than that but i didn't use all of the materials so im estimating that i used $20. Very easy to do. Took 2hrs to cut the wood to length, cut the right amount of carpet, and to glue/staple carpet to the wood. And that time was for someone who had nver done it before.
  7. whats a leader? No but seriously i dn't think the fish matter at all, just ur confidence on whether or not u think u should use a leader. Alot of guyz i fish against in tournaments fish straight braid on every rod and they just flat out beat me up but i think thats got more to do with experience and confidence in what ur doing than the line itself.
  8. i should also mention that i wouldn't buy a hummingbird unless it was the sideimage units. THose things are revolutionary at pricey around $1000-2500!! Wish Lowrance had their own version of sideimaging but oh well. Watever u feel most comfortable w/ i guess, im a lowrance guy but i also have a velxilar fl-18 up front next to my second LMS-334c.
  9. The 520 has more button options and may have a slightly bigger screen im not for sure cause i dn't own one. I have the LMS-334c and the only difference between mine and urs is that i have 1 or two more button options at the price of paying another $60 for the unit over the 332.
  10. sorry, nver heard of Jason, but im sure someone on here has. just give it some time n someone will give ya some info.
  11. Congrats on the new boat, looks like its been well taken care of! Yea, a Yamaha Vmax 175 HPDI would look really sweet on that rig, don't let others discourage u putting a Yamaha product on a boat that is usually rigged w/ Mercury. My 03' Nitro has a Yamaha on it and I wouldnt want it any other way.
  12. with kvd line and lure conditionor you won't have to worry about the line spooling off. Also, I highly reccomend P-line 100% Fluorocarbon.
  13. get the snap in carpet, i believe the nitro website has the option for $400.
  14. VERY NICE PAINT JOB! how would you like to send some my way ;D
  15. I have a few Shimano callistos that are still going strong 3 years later with plans on keeping them for aslong as they'll last!! can't beat this reel for the price: $39.99 at most stores.
  16. I just use a MH 7ft St. Croix Avid. I really don't like a shorter rod because i'm a taller guy and i feel like i don't miss as many fish on the longer rod.
  17. Power Pro all the way, I haven't had a problem yet with it, no unexpected breakoffs and isn't quite as stiff as some of the other braids can be.
  18. I really like my Cruxis but I'd save the money and put it towards a new Citica E or Curado E.
  19. i have an 02 Nitro 640LX which is the next model down that ur looking at and it seems to serve my purposes quite well. The only downfall to my boat is that even with the 90hp Yamaha on the back it takes a while to get on plane when i have a passanger which isn't often. Otherwise i really like although now I wish i would've waited to buy a bigger boat with more hp for the tournaments i fish in but then again i would probably be spending more money for gas.
  20. I dnt think line color matters. However i am one to think that moss green should blend in the water better than yellow, red, ect. just my take.
  21. A guy that I fished with who owns a stratos said that the the stratos boats typically have a deeper hull which is why they ride smooth in rough water. dnt know if that true but when I looked at it on the trailer it did seem to have a deeper hull than any other bass boat that i've look , rode, and owned. Pricewise the stratos is the better deal if u don't plan on selling it in a few years.
  22. Triton for the Triton Gold Money that you could possibly win! That and Triton has a much smoother drier ride athough not quite as good as a ranger.
  23. I can't see it being worth it. Does the guy have email? Then he could take pics and send them to you so you can decide if its worth the travel.
  24. Don't bother at all with flippin switches! Worse thing that was ever put on a fishing reel. I've superglued mine so that I can't accidently hit it and have my gears fly apart.
  25. Actually, I'm in the middle of typing up an article for a website that I field staff for about this very subject. I'm currently talking to Jonathan Vandam on getting his insight on how he is paving his way into a full time career.
