  1. When coming off plane do it slowly. Don't go straight down to neutral, ease slowly let off the gas. On some boats, backwash is just something you have to live with. My 2003 Nitro 640lx also backwashes somewhat bad until I started slowly letting off the throttle. Hope this helps.
  2. Don't go Plano!!! I droped a Falcon box of spinnerbaits and they floated just as advertiesed, no water got into them. I have a catalog around here somewhere, unfortunatly i can't find it at the moment. But I do know they make a 3 or 4 different boxs for cranks.
  3. I don't think KVD or any other pro has had an influence on my purchases. If I think it looks intresting I usually buy one of it to test out. If it produces but not to the standard of some other baits that I already have, they get a back seat. However, if I just hammer the fish a few trips after the purchase than I'll stock up. I am brand loyal as well however, I use alot of generic plastics to save some $. Product Lines I trust are: Storm/Rapala P-Line Trilene Heddon Berkley Falcon Rods Shimano Power Pro I also make alot of my own tackle such as jigs b/c I haven't found a current product out there with features I want such as a certain hook or a thicker weedguard ect..
  4. between the 7mf and the 68mxf i don't know. I would lean towards the 7MF just because it will be able to throw other baits and the wacky rig will work just as good on that rod. However, if you want to use the rod for more finesse work (dropshot, split shot, shakeyhead) than the 68mxf would be it.
  5. 15lb Power Pro. Its a braid so its very sensitive, and cause its braid it floats. If your not into braid, I would say Trilene Sensation in 14lb. very sensative copoly, and kinda floats, kinda don't.
  6. The higher end rods will alwayz be the better choice in the long run. Can't beat a lifetime warranty. However, the mojo's feel awesome, but I can't use mine yet, lakes are still frozen solid w/ 11" of ice :'(
  7. 20lb P-Line CXX for all swimbaits.
  8. P-Line 100% Flourocarbon! You get a 250yd spool vs 200yds of the competion which sells for the same price or more. When you average it out, it even beats the price of XPS Flouro even though P-Line costs more initally. But it makes up for it giving you an additional 50yds! Its also the easiest casting, most abrasion resistant flouro i have found.
  9. Get any amount of sand, mud, or dirt on black carpet and it shows!! Really hard to clean.
  10. sorry, but Power Pro is Power Pro, and I dn't think I'll give the new fireline a try. Don't fix wats not broke in my case
  11. I agree. A jon boat usually have flatbottoms and if your off to one side than It would really be easy to flip it over while going down the lake. When I had my 14ft Lund I thought about doing the same thing, but decided against it. It would be a neat idea and I guarantee that you would have the only consoled jon boat around. If you still are going to do it, might try a center consol, that way the center of gravity of the boat is even when in the drivers seat.
  12. I don't know about the Bass Magic hooks, but I do know that if your worried about the price of the hooks, do-it molds just came out with a swimbait hook mold where you take a regular EWG, place it in the mold, pour the lead, and you get a nice wieghted Swimbait hook. Thats if you have the equipment to pour lead. Otherwise, i've been sucking up and buying the overpriced Mustads :'(. Can't wait to start making my own.
  13. if your going to put a jig under a dropshot, make sure its legal in your state fishing laws. Some states only allow one hook on the line with the exception of lures w/ multiple hooks aka crankbaits. It would be to ur advantage to put the jig under the dropshot so you can cover 2 parts of the water colum.
  14. first off I don't fish Quantum rods or reels. However, it would be to your advantage to get the higest quaility equipment from any manufacture as they have better components, better finishes, all around performance from the reel or rod is better, and better waranties.
  15. Falcon's are great rods. It depends on the model, if its a cara then it would be a really really really great deal! If its the Orignals its not bad, 1/2 off the retail price w/ a reel thrown in.
  16. cold water is when these baits shine in my experience. I also throw them when I'm fishing behind other anglers too give the fish something different.
  17. I use a regular needle nose pliers and haven't noticed a diff. I would also reccomend u use the same size treble as the orginal on the bait. I agree the SureSet hook sucks, keeps breaking.
  18. very nice, however, I would move the rattles to the top. Its been my experience that the rattles will tear off if they hit the bottom and scrape against a rock, tree limb, ect. Other than that it looks AWESOME!
  19. The rules of supply and demand apply here. However, I do believe that friends helping jack up the price may have something to do w/ it.
  20. Kevin Vandam has won over $3million fishing with $4-$5 strike King cranks. The most expensive crank I have are a few Rapala DT's that are $6-$8. Swimbaits on the other hand are the exception. You really do get what you pay for when you buy a swimbait. However, cheap cranks $3-$8 have won more money and caught more fish than $14-$25 cranks. I think the only way I could justify buying a LC would be if I fished ultra clear water like the guyz out west and in Japan do, there I see the finish helping. However, I'd say the majority of the lakes, rivers, and resevoirs in the U.S.A. are clear with a slight stain to muddy.
  21. Jigs= all year cranks=all year spinnerbait= all year worms= all year topwater=all year, but they kinda don't get much use in winter but they can be good in certain situations during winter.
  22. Shimano Crestfire and Coriolis are great reels in that price range. Up until I started upgrading to curados and chronarchs, these reels were my main weapons. The have good line capacity, 6.2:1 gear ratio, and fit nicely in my hand. Cast far, and very durable.
  23. MinnKota would be my choice. I only had one problem with my minnkota which was my fault, and MinnKota was nice enough to give me a new motor! Other than that, my minnkota has been running strong 7+years. However, if money is your prioty you already have a motorguide that you can use until it kicks the bucket than buy a minnkota.
  24. Had a levelwind quit working properly after an hour of use.
