  1. This thread coverd the same topic. Happy reading. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1197392763/all
  2. I agree with Ann's statments above. I think I misused the term penatrating oil. WD-40 dose help loosen rusty bolts though.
  3. Yes. The scroll speed is constant to what you set it. It is independent of boat speed. It dose take some imagination to interpret the scrolled picture better. I think that would be a great addition to a depth plotter. Speed sensitive scrolling. The faster the boat is moving the faster the scroll is moving. It would keep the scroll picture more constant.
  4. I stand corrected as long as he already has the tools to cut the wood.
  5. My buddy did the black bed liner in his jon. It dampens the sound some. On the aluminum floor the water underneath keeps it cool. The bench seats get hot though. Wood and carpet is better, but i don't see how it could be cheaper or easier.
  6. Here is my office chair rig. It's really comfortable for a 10 ft jon. The double shelf on the front and back really help out when rigging and switching lures. Or eating lunch.
  7. WD-40 is a good penetrating oil too. Generously spray and walk away. Come back later and try beating on it and turning it. Still no go. Drill it out.
  8. Don't forget to check Ebay as long as the seller has more than 100 sales and has 98% or better on his reviews.
  9. With all variable held constant and only the power changing then I think yes. The lighter power rod will be physically lighter in weight. This translates to sensitivity. But only changing from M to ML may not be enough to notice.
  10. Yes. In the instruction manual mine told me how to set it and what to look for on the screen while setting it. If you have an instruction manual it should tell you. Factory settigns are rarely the best.
  11. is any one else getting hungry
  12. Arbor knot to put liine on the spool. Uni for most all else. Uni-Uni for line to line. no knot falures yet. http://www.animatedknots.com/indexfishing.php
  13. Fishing from shore in Central Florida is rare. Most all our lakes are very gradual sloping allowing for thick and tall weeds from shore out to 30 or 100 ft. Only where the shore has been cleared can you get a cast in, but the fish normally don't hang out there. They would rather hang closer to the weeds. Renting a boat should get you more fish. Your hotel is half way between Disney and Lk Toho. Toho will probably be your best bet. Although it is bigger and more heavily fished than others lakes that are closer, most other lakes are smaller private lakes and don't have boat rentals. Find one of the bait shops, ask the old man behind the counter what's biting, and let him sell you a lure or two. This has always gotten me a head start on new and unfamiliar lakes. Tanner
  14. Saturday - Secluded Lake near Moss Park with Cyprus trees all the way around. Wind was completely blocked from one shore line so that's where we fished. 9 am till 3pm Water 68 Landed about 16 or 18 bass from 1/4 lb up to 2.5 lb. We wanted to increase the size so we went cruising to the middle and charted the bottom. We found several schools suspended about 8 ft down. I quickly put my rod tip about 4ft underwater while I was reeling and landed my first ever Black Crappie. 1lb 6oz. he hit a Rapala Xrap 10cm (one of my biggest cranks). I thought it was a bass until he jumped. 6 Black Crappie in all weighing 5 lbs colectivly.
  15. Nice 2lber. I caught my first ever Black Crappie yesterday. 1lb 6oz on a Rapala Xrap 10cm. I thought it was a bass right up until he jumped. We ran over some suspended schools of fish on the depth finder so I lowered my rod tip all the way down into the water to get my lure down to about 8-10 ft. Ended up with 6 of them weighing 5 lbs collectively. What's the easiest way to cook this guy?
  16. Very true Roger. Small variables do count. I never intended to set up the experiment. It was just a by-product of fishing for the day.
  17. I will take my own words with a grain of salt here since I am a novice in comparison with roger, but I think visibility dose play a measurable role. I think most of the other traits mentioned might be more important, but as long as we are choosing our equipment and it isn't too much more effort than you might as well consider visibility. A fish is a fish is a fish. Not exactly. While most fish may not care about the thread of line coming out of their next meal some will. This may not hold true everyday or on every lake, but I have seen it. It was a cold post frontal day on Garcia Receiver. A buddy and me were fishing shiners. I caught 4 bass he caught 0. The only noticeable difference we saw between our set ups was mono (nylon) vs. braid with 4ft floro leader. Same hooks, same bobbers and he just wasn't getting the bites.
  18. I can tell it's crappie season down here by looking at the shelves. Never noticed it for bass baits.
  19. Being a spinning gear guy i had not considered the nighttime baitcaster issues. That's what I get for being a smart butt. :-[ Thanks for the response and the offer. Through reading this forum I have grown to trust the Fenwick name among others.
  20. I fully expect to get a new personal best this year. PB is 3.5 lbs. Goal is 5 to 10 lbs Life goal is 10+ Day dream is 18lb FL record
  21. What prevented you from fishing with your daytime jerkbait rig at night? ;D That rod does sound exactly like what I am looking for. I have a spare Symmetry I wanted to try out first though. Would you consider separating?
  22. I am considering relocating the tree. But its 8 ft tall while lying on its side. This is a public ski lake so I must keep the top of it 4 ft below surface during drought. That's 12 ft of water minimum that it needs to be located in during drought. During full lake times it would be in 15 ft deep water with 7 ft of water on top of it. It may be another 6 months before I come up with a new suitable location. Maybe I should trim some branches so I can get it in shallower water.
  23. I can back that statement up. I didn't know where the hot spots were in my lake so i drug a big orange tree out to the middle where no one would find it but me. I thought this would create a hot spot. I have since found some hot spots that have lots of fish. It's been 8 months and I have been to the tree 3 times with no results. :'( The tree and my best hot spot are only 200yrds apart.
  24. I am looking for a 7 ft MM spinning rod for crank baits. I have a 7ft MM casting St Croix Avid and love the feel of the Avid. But I am not used to the casting and want to get a similar rod with a spinning reel so I can make comparisons. I am having trouble finding a comparable rod. I checked the St Croix avid lineup and G. Loomis lineup and they don't make one for spinning crank bait. Dose anybody have any suggestions. So far the closest I found was an All Star Platinum MMF. Any thoughts or sugestions?
