  1. Yeah, its no fun at all. Water temps here are mid to hi 80's already. Doesn't bode well for July and August.
  2. Was on the potomac last friday out of Whites Ferry. Water is way down, and in the mid 80's, could not find any grass in areas which is usually full of it. Managed a few small bass but not what we were looking for.
  3. Yeah, had a good and fun time fishing BH with Hellbender last night. Just kind of funny how we kept going to new spots, have a flurry of activity then have it disappear quickly. The double we had after dark was fun...
  4. I vote for 12lb yozuri hybrid... I tried cxx (6lb) and it did not compare to yozuri (6lb) at all, not sure if I got a bad batch or what but it broke to easily for me. Stripped it off and went back to yozuri after losing fish in a tourney.
  5. What is your budget? Baitcast or spinning? First suggestion would be a falcon bucoo with a citica, but a little more detail will help provide suggestions. The combo I listed will be in the low $200 range, although the flea market on this site has some nice stuff slightly used for good prices.
  6. Has anyone donated a boat to charity? I have a 14ft jon boat, it does not have a motor on it at this point (it was stolen). I am not looking to do anything with it, want to donate it to a place which will just come pick it up. Anyone have any thoughts of a good charity place which does this?
  7. Problem is if you see the fish, it seems you. The only time I have had success getting a fish like that to bite was on senko's. Try to reduce you visibility to the fish before you cast.
  8. Don't overlook the Falcon Bucoo rods, just picked one of them up and I am very impressed with it. I have a Citica 200e on it, nicely balanced, light and sensitive. They sell for $100 or $110 depending on length.
  9. The rod and line you mention would fit the work very well. For a rod in that range, a Dobyns Savvy series would do you well, either the 735 or the 766.
  10. Welcome bigdog!!! While I also live in Germantown I have no idea where you can purchase live minnows. I haven't used live bait in a few years. But hopefully you can find a place and let us know how the bite goes for you.
  11. You can put any brand reel or any brand rod without issue. I recently had a citica 200e on a vendetta rod and it was a very good combination. (I just ordered a Bucoo 7ft MH for that reel though....)
  12. I just started doing tourneys myself this year, its a local club I joined. Its been a lot of fun, I got skunked of my first tourney, but have finished 2nd and 4th in my next two. Each one had 15 co-anglers so I am happy with my finishes. Its definately been a confidence boost, and I have learned a lot.
  13. Love my Vendetta but I can't believe there are equal to a 300 dollar rod. I have heard from others the baitcast line is a whole lot better then the spinning rods.
  14. I personally don't put a lot of concern with scents, the only time I use it is if the bite is light and I think I am missing fish because they are dropping the bait. A little scent seems to help the fish hold the bait a little longer. Only other time I use it is if I am fishing weeds/slop, the scent (Megastrike) helps the bait slide thru it better.
  15. I can't comment on the rod, I don't have one. But I have both a Citica 200e and a Revo S. Between those two I would easily go with the Citica.
  16. $1000 to repair my wife's car, a car I don't like at all but she does so she won't get rid of it.... No fishing purchases or fishing at all, stuck at work covering a 12 hour shift yesterday, today and tomorrow.
  17. I have the same XPS bag as pictured by b.Lee, has worked out well. Can carry a ton of stuff, using it as a backpack makes it easier to carry because it is heavy when full, and no issues with it holding up to abuse.
  18. Welcome Browtine!!! There are a few guys in the area, and a few meet up sometimes to do a little fishing. Good luck.
  19. I have a 7ft MF casting Vendetta, I love it. I committed a sin to some but it has a Citica 200E on it and its my favorite combo.
  20. That is correct, its a trophy area for bass, so at no time during the year are you allowed to keep any.
  21. There a few I would like to get to fish with, but I would have to say Big-O and Catt.
  22. That park is not in the tidal area, good smallie area around the islands. Most of what I have done and heard for around there is the normal rocky points, deeper pools around eddy's.
  23. Welcome p8nt, not to familiar with that part of the state but just did a tourney out of Conowingo. Not sure how far away you are from there but was a good day, good largemouth and smallmouth. Are you fishing from shore or do you have a boat?
  24. A couple more pics.
  25. Got to spend a great day yesterday fishing with Hellbenderman at Black Hills. Found a lot of largemouth on beds, some of the covers had nice fish all over the place. As we went cove to cove we got into some real nice fish, one of my better days. I got 4 between 18 and 20 inches. Hellbenderman got several large ones also including a 5lb 9oz for the largest of the day. Have to thank Hellbenderman again for taking me out for such a great day.
