  1. Stopped at the canal at Dickerson for a couple hours yesterday. Ended up with two, one 12 inch, and one 14 inch. Was really slow, got both of these on 5 inch senkos. Was desticking them, the 14 inch I didn't even feel a bite, was just extra weight when I went to move it. Also, got a couple short strikes on 3.5 inch Yum Money Minnows.

  3. This thread is great for keeping up with Maryland fishing. Try to post whenever I can provide something productive. Basser89 is a great guy to fish with, hoping to get a chance to go with him a couple times this year. If all goes well should go out this weekend to Black Hills, will have to keep on eye on this thread to figure out my plan of attack. Will post how it goes when I get back.

wow, I remember not to long ago when you had to buy tickets to Bristol almost a year in advance. After seeing skunked comment I changed the channel to take a look. There are a LOT of empty seats, but don't worry it was the wings fault, its gone soon..... :
  6. Sad to report I am canceling my plans to go to Pickwick, had a lot of unexpected expenses so far this year. Was still planning to go, my credit card company would have been happy. But with the lower attendance and discussions about the number of boats its better I save this money and plan for next year..... :'(
  7. well sometimes these spring nor'easter rains raise the water temp because the days are generally pretty warm when they come in. my thoughts are the change in barometric pressure, and water clarity are the culprits to the slower fishing.
  8. For the Point of Rocks area, the river peaked early Monday at 26ft, and is now down to a little over 12 feet. While still up its several feet below flood stage now. This is according to the USGS Real-Time Water Data from the Maryland DNR website.
  9. Only pic I can find worth posting.... http://www.fotothing.com/photos/e2e/e2efec617f75eb65b972b4edde869df0_f07.jpg
  10. Those pictures are insane, I wish I had some pics of the dam at normal level to show the difference..
  11. Going to light the rod won't load properly and casting will very difficult if not next to impossible. Going to heavy puts you at risk of snapping the rod during casting. While the lure weight disignation is not set in stone I wouldn't go to much over or under.
  12. The prior thread was locked because of posted responses getting political, not the topic of discussion. I think the mods wouldn't mind a discussion on what this means, what to do to voice your opinion and such. But don't want to hear peoples political views of why or who.
  13. Thanks, I just hope for two things for the tourney, I do better then I did there last saturday, and less wind.
  14. Basser, yeah the ice was all gone from the canal but I don't think the water temp was much over 40. There were a bunch of people fishing the first but only one other person on the canal. I didn't see him catch anything. No fishing this weekend for me, next trip will be the tournament on the 20th.
  15. Hopefully everyone will act appropriately and keep it on topic, not political. This information needs to get out there.
  16. I went over to the canal at Dickerson for a couple hours yesterday. No ice but still very cold, only got one strike on a 3.5 inch Money Minnow. Was a nice fat 18 incher....
  17. Tin, I have a cabin, right now have one other person for sure, and another tentative. If you need a place to stay I still have another spot........
  18. I have both a Citica 200E and a Revo S which are both in that price range. Comparing these two its Citica easily.
  19. As a couple people have already stated, the best part of this trip is meeting guys from the site and getting some fun fishing in. The speakers, and pro's and all the other stuff is not nearly as important, just some extra good stuff. For the people on the fence, it should not be as expensive as you would think. Sharing cabin/room expenses help immensely. The cabin are only 120 to 130 a night depending on weekend or weekday. Split 4 ways that is cheap. At this point I still have at least 2 extra spaces in my cabin.
  20. I have a cabin which still has at least 2 beds open, holding one for a certain person to get off the fence....you know who you are ;D
  21. Great tribute, she should be an inspiration to all of us who are trying to make a name for ourselves in our chosen professions, whatever they are. Tell her congrats, and hope she finds all the fun and enjoyment she can in her retirement.
  22. The Maryland state record was caught in 2008 by a guy who backed his boat into the area he wanted to fish to break up the ice so he could cast into it. Sure you have to fish a little different but there is no reason to avoid going.
  23. Were on the river, what ramp you leaving from?
  24. Uncle Leo, was trying to figure out the same thing. but it was funny to see them have to apologize for the celebration, nothing like underage drinking in front of cameras.....
