Basically, yeah, Economics 101 is it cycles up and down and will do so no matter what the feds do. However, with the money grabbers in the mortage and housing markets caused so much harm this down cycle is a lot worse. Now we have to somehow stop the downward turn, although a major portion of the population is not in bad shape the number that are causes the media to push those stories, when have we ever seen the media not push the bad parts of things. That in itself will cause to get concerned and start saving, which is good but will cause the recovery to be slower. Just look at all the BS they have people believing about global warming thanks to manbearpig (Al Gore)

Well, I guess you will get some time to work on your finesse fishing.... As for the injury, personally the shoulder area is about the only one I haven't found a way to mess up, yet. So, I really can't offer to much knowledge other then if it comes to surgery don't back away or delay it to long. Better to get it fixed then let it get worse....

Well, its time to get back to school and update my skills. Now have to figure out how to pay for that. And have to figure someway to get a cheap desktop I can use a practice Linus machine. Honestly not looking forward to the late nights again, but in the end it is worth it....

A good train of thought for this is.... As big as money will allow. over time you will be happier. Although a 30lb may work well most of the time. There are times when the extra power will be a huge plus. For example, I was out on an electric only lake, and was a long way away from the ramp. It wasn't supposed to get windy that day but a front came in quicker then expected and what started out calm winds turned to 25 mph with higher gust. Without the extra power not sure if I would have made it back in. I have a 14ft jon, with a 55lb thrust trolling motor.

I have to admit the setup just feels good in my hands was just not having any luck with backlashes. And they kept happening on the start of the cast which should be helped this adjustment.... got my license today, now just need to get a break to get out....

there is no dial on the side, you have to remove the cover to make the adjustment

Just printed out my license, hope to hit heated water soon. No reason to stop fishing unless ice stops you, and its not thick enough to fish thru.....

Okay, for anyone who has this reel also. To adjust the brakes turn the left side of the reel counter clockwise. The adjust is 0 thru 6, 0 being no brakes used, 6 is all engaged. Even though plueger support said they shipped the reels set on 6 mine was on 0. Wondering now if that played a part in inability to cast consistantly with it....
