  1. Will be interested to see just how well the phone will work, being google's first attempt at a mobile phone. Especially since the the reason they provide it to whoever wants to use it for free is so they can get the advertising income from all the junk they will show you when you use it. Also, on a lesser note, its an ugly phone....... fwiw... I love my LG Dare on verizon......
  2. Actually I do believe with the Iphone the wifi will not incur any charges as it does not touch the AT&T network when surfing. The data plan is for using the wireless companies network to surf, and there are different rates for data used. If its just to surf the web its actually not that expensive. If you use it to transfer files then it gets expensive.
  3. Avid, the trips have been fun, well except for one when I got a leak in the boat and one that was supposed to be light winds that turned into about 20-25mph.... Bought my first boat this spring, have been having a blast playing with it. Just getting frustrated with the lack of fish, but its always fun. Got one good one this morning, about 17 inches and a few smaller ones. The larger one put on a good show when it hit the topwater lure....
  4. who is having a really slow fishing season?? Had a couple decent trips early, but the summer has been difficult. Haven't had a good day in a couple months. I have had slumps before but this is getting to be a little much. Worse thing is i don't know why. I try new things periodically, but even my usual "go to" tactics have not been working. Heading out tomorrow morning, if the wind calms down, to try to the lake at Black Hills. Hopefully the bass will be a little more cooperative then the Potomac smallmouths this morning.....
  5. Thanks Basser, little worried the water is to low to try my first time on the river especially since I fish alone. Need to figure something out though, really want to give the boat a run soon.
  6. Anyone been to the Potomac in the Seneca area? Thinking about heading there for my first river trip in my boat. A little concerned with water levels since a few people talk about how hard the upper potomac is on boats. Its a 14ft jon with a 25hp motor. Prior owner says it needs about 18 inches of water. The current plan is to head upriver to the 3 islands, anyone got any thoughts?
  7. Speaking of Dam #4 what is everyone's thought of putting in below the dam and fishing at the base of it. I have a 14ft jon, I have seen people there but that doesn't mean its a good idea.... yeah, 2 just went over Dam 4, a couple weeks ago the son of a maryland state delegate went over Dam 5 on a pwc.
  8. Sorry, haven't been on to much recently. You didn't say what kind of fishing you like, or if you are a boater. If you prefer smallmouth you are in luck you have anywhere on the portion of the potomac in the hagerstown area, and the lower portion of the monacacy in frederick, the portion between buckeystown and the potomac, this portion of the river is a trophy area no bass are supposed to be kept. If its largemouth you will have to travel a little more, there are some reservoirs like tridelphia, rocky gorge, and a couple others. Also have Black Hills Regional park in Germantown. Send me a private message if there is anything I can do to help.
  9. Go with an open source OS, they are free, stable, and you can get apps for free. If sticking with Windows the first thing to change is dump IE for Firefox, load *** and no script.....
  10. I put a 50 amp inline breaker in, gives a little protection but also a quick easy method to turn power off when I need to.
  11. I am with fishfordollars on this one, exactly my process. Two important things to keep in mind is to get the boat ready to go before getting in line and most important don't get to worried about it. It really is not as hard as you think, believe me my first time was this year its really not that bad. Oh, and if you not used to backing the trailer up go practice in an empty parking lot first. Although my boat is the easiest thing I have ever backed up with a little practice first won't hurt.
  12. In the 200 buck range its hard to go against the humminbird 565.
  13. What always amazes me its supposed to be a "deterrent" but it doesn't stop anyone from doing it. And the cities that put it in always seem to do it when they have a budget crunch....hmmm...
  14. speedbead, yeah the lake is ~6am to sunset only then the park closes. They hold a couple night fishing events each season. You get to fish until midnight then everyone has to be off the water. Its a very heavily fished lake, I have not done a night fishing event there yet but have heard they are very productive.

    Welcome!!!
  16. Already given up hunting, just lost its appeal to me dealing with the knuckleheads who appear in the woods. Concentrating on fishing, got myself a small boat and having a blast.
  17. Good ones man, trying to figure out what cove your on..... ;D Got 4 this morning in about 2 and a half hours before had some boat trouble and had to leave. They are biting pretty well right now.
  18. There are some areas of the potomac which is catch and release only already. For the most part I believe culling some fish out is a good thing. However the problem is some, and no not just one ethnic group, keep everything they catch whether legal or not. Better enforcement needs to be done, but the question then is how to enforce it better... Personally would like to see the banning of PWC's on the upper potomac, from Great Falls and up. The river is just not wide enough farther up, the PWC's have no respect for others trying to enjoy the river. Not just other boaters, but wading fisherman and those swimming/walking in the water.
  19. Here is my 91 Lowe.
  20. Got my Humminbird 565 installed on the boat this morning. Heading out tomorrow morning to see it in action. I know a lot of guys here have the same unit, any thoughts on setting it up that works well, or something that didn't work well??
  21. Frogtog, my thoughts are with you. When my daughter was born she had a problem with her heart and had open heart surgery when she was 5 weeks old. It can be tough but just remember the doctors who do these surgeries know exactly what they are doing and will do everything to make it easier for the child. Medical advances have been amazing for these kinds of surgeries. She is now 10 years old with no problems or restrictions. She is a great fishing partner.... Not sure how far away from the hospital you live but if its a long way check out the Ronald McDonald house. We lived there for 3 weeks, the people there are wonderful.
  22. I am not an expert, but as I understand it using 2 amps, although it takes longer, provides a better charge to the battery. Of course if you need the battery charged quickly use the higher amps. Also, charge the batteries as soon as possible after each use.
  23. The humminbird 565 was on-sale at Dick's Sporting goods for $160 after rebate, have not installed yet but seen a lot of good reviews here on other post.
  24. This site is the best forum by far, always someone to answer the most stupid questions without making you feel stupid. (I have had several of those...) :-?
  25. Just came back from Dick Sporting Goods, they have the 565 10 dollars off with a 30 dollar rebate. Now have to read up on the install.......
