  1. WHATEVER you do, DO NOT I repeat DO NOT fish in the vacinity of such obstructions! I hear it contributes to adult onset diabetes and pancreatic cancer
  2. I have cought bass with missing eyes, wierd jaw formations, and mottled features before but never a missing tail. Very nice pic!
  3. I would sooner try JB weld or something of the sort before i would use spray foam. They make these epoxys for aluminum that is almost like play doh that you could use as well.
  4. The bass were probably full.
  5. I think that when someone esle's fish story or picture irritates us to any point we are taking the sport a little too seriously and need to take a deep breath. It isn't like they are trying to submit it for arecord, or win some tournament in a dishonest manner. They are normally making conversation about a sport they love just as much as the majority of this forum.
  6. Sit down WITH her then and get on craigslist ibosts etc.....
  7. I bought a 12V/50AMP In line circuit breaker off of eBay for under 10 bucks shippped. They are made for golf carts and electric wheelchairs. Installation couldn't be simpler you cut your positive lead near the battery and install this in line one side to battery and the other to the motor. They look like this and work great.
  8. I would downsize like the rest have stated, and if that doesn't work I would hit the other side of the spectrum and rip a lipless crank, jerk a fluke through, or stroke a huge jig and try to get a reaction strike.
  9. For 250 you stole it. For that you should be ashamed, and give me the number of the seller. Hoefully they have another one
  10. I have a 14' V aluminum myself. I have it decked with 2 deep cycle batteries, 2 Trolling motors and 2 220# guys. When I had a 25HP johnson it would flat out fly. The johnson had a freak issue with sucking in something into the impeller and died of overheat. I put my a 15HP Merc on there and the thing does get on plane, but barely. It just isn't the same boat.
  11. Or trigger a strike if it wasn't one in the first place
  12. I find the toughest thing when the sun goes down is to keep confidence in slower moving baits and I find myself starting to seek out more noisy, attractor type baits. Having said that, when I stuck to the 4" finesse worm on a shakey head I finished in the money for the first time in a tourney (I have only fished two tourneys both at night)with 2 bass in the last 10 minutes bwfore having to boogie back for weigh in. So I have to keep reminding myself that though it is dark the fish CAN and WILL find my bait.
  13. Best answer yet! Don't forget how far you can extend it from your body as well
  14. I think the amount of fisherman that are using the newest lure is what makes it produce so many more fish. The next "hot" lure comes along and the fisherman switch. Now, I will say this. I have seen fish in pressured lakes become alot more skittish in general making them more wary to everything.
  15. Good thread! I believe the Perry story. I also think the Next record will pop up in the next few years in Texas or Mexico.
  16. My first time launching I forgot to put the plug in :-[. Thankfully I also forgot to take the transom strap off too, so I didn't sink ! Later that season in the ripping delaware current the guy launching in front of me lost his boat off of the trailer and it was heading up toward a bridge pretty quickly. I had to chase down his 18' center console and tow it back with my 14' aluminum v with the 15HP tiller. Good times.
  17. I think finding fish is more important and difficult for catching fish than picking a color.
  18. Practice practice practice. One thing to remember is to set the tension for the different lures you use. And take it easy with the casts. Start out barely giving it any arm, and just let the rod kind of sweep a little. You will feel like a girl trying to throw a ball but that is ok. It will at least get you a feel for how the line will come off of the spool. Keep your thumb close to the spool and ready to lock down if you have an overrun coming. Keep at it and as you get a feel for it you will get more comfortable with it and cast better and better.
  19. I only wish I had more time to do it!
  20. I have never tried one but I am a big fan of Berkley rods. I have goten some serious bang for the buck on those things.
  21. Don't mean to steal the topic, but might help original author as well if he decides to get one... I recently purchased two of these used off of eBay and I absolutely love their feel and smoothness. I have yet to cast them though. How do you get to the cast adjustment mechanism? I have been looking all over for some way to get to the brake system.
  22. This man gets a cookie!
  23. I have a bigger boat... In fact I'm in the middle of a resto on it and that's where most of my money is going. I was talking about a slightly larger "tin" boat You can get great deals on flat bottomed puddle jumpers for less than 300$ in alot of cases including a trailer. It is just a 12" boat (ecpecially one with a v) is going to be somewhat tippy.
  24. I got a 50 AMP in line circuit breaker from ebay for just over 5$ shipped. And no need to buy fuses or replace it. They are fairly common as they are used in marine applications as well as in golf carts and electric scooters/wheelchairs.
  25. I am reviving the old thread because I finally decided since I couldn't fish in it over the winter I would get the bow mounted trolling motor on there and a more permanant electrical setup. I have some pics of the trolling motor setup, but need to get some of the wiring for anyone interested. I spent a bored cold evening (this time in the garage as we got all of the trash cleaned out of it) mulling over how I could mount the TM with what I had on hand. I decided on some 1/2" plywood and a piece of 2x8 left over from a building project. I fastened it to the deck with "L" brackets on the back side. and cut out a piece of decking to go on the top of the gunwal and screwed down into the 2x8 and around the gunwal with self tapping screws. Here are a few pics. In my mind I am thinking this is a temporary setup. I think next year I might redeck the front to a more traditional platform. It all depends on what I end up fishing. I have migrated more and more towards bass fishing pretty exclusively so the way the front deck is setup might have to change. I will probably build in a livewell as well if and when when I do that. I am going to fish it as is for a season and then make the decision, it might be just fine and I leave it as is. When I get back out there I will get some pics of the wiring. Who knows when that will be as I am getting a lumbar cortisone shot tomorrow so the weekend might be shot who knows with those things.
