  1. I have never seen a fish that strange looking caught on rod and reel. Im clueless
  2. Salmon are the best fish by far to eat. If I were ever to keep a fish it would be a salmon. I always wanted to catch a salmon.
  3. LOL thats a monster...kind of brings up a bad memory of what I saw another fisherman at a local lake doing once. This guy caught a tiny bass about that size on a tiny spinnerbait. Then he proceded to toss the fish out of bait. This realy did annoy me. I could care less about people useing live bait but that annoyed me he was useing a bass for live bait. anyway that bass must have been hungry
  4. Just wondering what is so great about the bass liveing in California ,Florida, Georgia that makes them grow so big. Yes I know the southern strain bass grow much larger than the northern strain bass but I hear everyone saying that in these three states even the southern strain of bass get larger than the the southern strain bass in other states. Why is it like this. Just wondering. Also I live in california and have still never been able to catch a double didgit bass. Maybe its because I usually just fish my two small local lakes and dont go to larger lakes enough.
  5. Catch one and take a pic of him....that would be best thing to do. Then we would be able to help you.
  6. OMG BoroBass... I realy want to catch one of those. I should inform the owners of my local lakes about that site and see if they will stock the lakes with some of them....
  7. Actually from looking again I think they probably mid 4s. Probably around 4.5 pounds. I dont know though. Could just look small in pictures....
  8. There are so many factors that go into how big a fish seems in a picture. That last pic I posted the bass looks a lot bigger than 2 pounds because I have my arm stretched out toward the camera. I have another pic of a 1.5 pound bass that looks like 3 pounds. I also used to have a pic of a 3.5 pound bass that looked less than 2. Thing is a bass can look bigger or smaller in a pic because of many factors. How far away you stand from the camera is a big one. Another one is how far out you hold the fish. T-Rigs second pic makes that bass look like a world record. Hes close to the camera and holding the fish out. I always try to get pictures like this. Thing is when your alone you often have a random photographer who walks a mile away before takeing the picture makeing your nice fish look like a dink. Also you may have a bass that is realy big shoulder to shoulder which never shows up in a picture. A pic of a bass like this will always make it seem the fish weighs less than it is. Yeah from what you said about the length of the fish they should be probably about 5 pounds. They just dont look that big in the picture. I realy dont know though. I still say they probably around 4.8 - 4.9 pounds.
  9. Yeah T-Rig has a good point. This bass was only 2 pounds... sure looks bigger than that
  10. I'm using larger baits so that get's your average size up. We are doing well with Lucky Craft LVR D-10's and LV Max 500's. Sammy's in the 115 to 128 size and other large topwaters. With those larger topwater baits the average size we catch is 2.5 to 3.5lbs. but occasionally we do get some some dinks but alot less then if we were using small baits. The fish want big baits at the moment which is fine with me. I think I kind of shy away from the realy big baits basically because im scared of getting skunked when I use them. I know with the baits I throw I always will catch a fish. Its just I often catch about 3 fish of around a pound and about two bigger 2-3 pound fish(Refering to when I fish for largemouth bass only). When I go fishing I dont spend a whole day on the lake. I usually spend around 2-3 hours fishing. I also have been going fishing almost every day recently. Every two to three times I go out I seem to get a pretty big bass(3.5+ pounds). I used to have an even worse problem. Id catch about 10 dinks of about 8 inches and about 2 decent fish. Now the size of my fish has gone up and it seems I am catching more good size fish (3+ pounds). My average fish used to be around about 1 pound. However in the last few weeks my average size fish is probably over 2 pounds. The thing with bigger baits is you often catch much less fish. "Fish Criss" has a HUGE weight average for bass fishing. His average fish is probably around 9-10 pounds throwing bigger baits. However he often goes out for a whole day and only catches about 2 fish. Sometimes he goes out a whole day and doesent catch anything.( not calling you a bad fisherman if you happen to read this fish chris by saying you often catch nothing. I understand you go specifically for monster bass and dont even bother trying for anything under 10 pounds.). What im saying is your average weight goes up but your number of bass goes way down. I just realy hate going out fishing and not catching anything.
  11. Nice pike. Wish we had those in my area.
  12. It kind of baffles my mind that someone would catch a 7 pound bass and a 8 pound bass and not take pics of both of them. If i get a 7 or 8 pounder im takeing the pic and doing a report on the catch here with the pic. ( yeah I admit im a big show off when it comes to fishing. However I also love it when others show off and report on thier catches.... I love seeing other peoples fish)
  13. I wonder if there actually are any five pound bluegill? What is the world record for a bluegill I wonder.
  14. Here is another picture. If your wondering why this fish is on a stringer I did release the fish. Hes on the stringer because no one was around to take a picture so I had to keep him in the water on the stringer until someone walked by. I was later informed that putting him on the stringer could have damaged him so i regret holding him by the stringer. He swam off ok though. I think he was probably about 8-9 pounds.
  15. Hey Chris... Its steven by the way you posted one of my old pics on your trophy sport fish page. The fish in my avatar is a koi I think. Either that or some kind of wild goldfish that got to a huge size. This was the second koi I caught and first legit koi. My first one was foul hooked. Anyway it was a good fight and took a while to bring in on a spinning rod. He didnt make any long straight runs to deep water but instead kept sweimming from side to side. This fish was caught like most of my carp and catfish.....on a big wad of bread and a trebble hook...... Heres a big pic...
  16. That is deffinitly a different species of catfish to the ones we have in my local lakes. In my local lakes we have channel cats. What kind of cat is that? Its like yellowish in color.
  17. No way those fish are in the 3 pound range.... and no way are they in the 6 pound range. Im guessing they are both in the 4 pound rage.... probably high 4s
  18. Fishn49er that is a very nice lure. Thing is I bet youd only catch like one or two fish on it the whole time you own it. Though I bet those fish would be lunkers.
  19. You seem to have a realy high weight average for the bass where you live. Or maybe your just useing tactics that catch you big fish. Anyway seemed like a great day. Those are some nice bass and great photos.
  20. ROFL The_Muddy_Man you are a funny writer. I loved your description of the woman as hefer of the year in 06 and found the part about the grapefruit size bobber even funnyer. You should do stand up man. Great funny descriptions you have.
  21. On another note you think there are bass lures that look like ducklings? Live topwater duckling lures?
  22. WOw i could easily get my spot in there.... The line class record for bluegill on 20 pound test is vacant for california. I could catch any old bluegill with 20 pound test and get in. Also do they keep these records for carp? Years ago I caught a carp which was 18-20 pounds and 34 inches long on 10 pound test. Dont know wether that would be a record for 12 pound line class. They dont seem to have a section for carp in there. Anyone know about this? I may havea line class record carp and not have submitted it
  23. Well T-Rig the day as a whole was slow but the morning part of your trip seemed to be great. Three good size bass. I liked the bit where you were takeing a pee and trying to bring a fish in at the same time. That image cracks me up. Great fish and great pics.
  24. I personally think someone released a bunch of big koi into the lake that got too big for a backyard pond. I have seen several different ones swimming around... A white one with orange spots, a pure orange one, and a huge white one that is about 15 pounds. All in that one pond.
