Strange Lures
What are some of the stranger lures you have seen. Every lure I own has been from sporting goods stores or stores like walmart so I have not seen many strange lures. However just now I typed in "fishing lures" on google and saw some very strange looking lures that I have no clue how they catch fish or what kind of fish you catch with them. Many of these lures were very expensive some over $20. Heres some pics.... This is some kind of frog lure... It cost $22. Im baffled by who would buy this and am wondering wether it actually catches fish.

He tried.............
Glad you are actually able to catch a good amount of bass in the blistering heat unlike me. Looks like you had a pretty good day. Your fish were also bigger than anything I caught today while trying to fish mid day

new to senko fishing...
I have caught bass with this bait in practically every way with practically every rig and I have only been useing them a short time. I would read the senko FAQ though it has a lot of info on the different ways to use this bait.

Mid Day Fishing :(
Ok I never fish in the middle of the day and thought I would give it a shot. I was out fishing from 11:00AM-2:00PM. Just got back now. The result for the entire three hours of fishing in the 85 degree heat was two dinks. The fish this time of the day will not take any bait it seems. I started the day off with a senko which usually produces fish and good size ones as well. I threw this bait for the first hour with no bites at all. When I went round the back side of the lake where you can see all the way accross to the island in the middle I often saw good size 1-3 pound bass take long looks at the senko but they would not even touch it. I walked all around the small lake to places where I usually hammer the fish in the evening on senkos without a bite. I then decided to downsize my bait and try a fluke. I fished it both slow and fast. I had a bite after about 20 minutes but when I set the hook I just ended up throwing my fluke over my shoulder. I fished it for a while longer figureing they were at least takeing this bait and ended up catching a small bass round the back of the lake where I first started throwing the senko. After that I got no hits at all. After that I had no luck for probably another 30 minutes and gave up on the fluke. I decided to slow down my fishing even more and try a 4 inch robo worm and fishing it painfully slow. I fished it for a while with nothing before catching another small dink that was probably around 8 inches. A short while after this my head began throbbing which it still is now. Anyway this is the reason why I hate fishing at noon. I dont catch much. The only reason I went out at this time was because I have school this evening and wont be able to fish. Anyone here have any tips on fishing at mid day in the heat. Here is the pic of the larger of the two dinks....what a monster...I think im going to have this one mounted

Average Size Of Your Catches.
What are the average sizes of the fish that you catch. If you want answer what the average size is for each species of fish that you catch. Just wondering how big of fish most people catch on average. As for me..... Largemouth Bass = Around 1.5 pounds. I catch a lot of dinks that are probably under a pound which realy do bring my average weight down for this species. Catfish = Around 4 pounds. Seems that most the catfish I catch are between 3 and 5 pounds. Occasionally I get a big one that is 6-7 pounds and sometimes I catch them around 2 pounds. Carp = My biggest average fish size of any species. I am not jokeing my average carp is probably around 8 pounds. One of my local lakes is filled with common carp and I do not fish for them very often but love catching them. When I fish for them though it seems every other carp I catch is over 10 pounds. The biggest on was probably around 18 pounds. Koi = 7-8 pounds. Only ever caught one. Trout = Probably around 1 pound. I usually fish for them in this small pond that is stocked weekly and many people take the trout home so they do not grow big. Bluegill/Sunfish = Probably about 5-6 inches. I dont fish for them anymore but occasionally catch one.

Great report. Did you have that last fish you posted mounted?

nothin but dinks...
The last time I went fishing I caught 5 bass. The time before that I caught 7. Thing is im haveing the exact same problem that you are haveing of only catching small fish. My biggest bass from both these trips was a little over 12 inch. Anyway id rather catch a bunch of dinks then no bass at all.

Rapala X-Rap lures
Thanks a lot man that is some good advice. Il probably get a couple but wait a while before I buy them though since they are not that great in summer. When it starts cooling down I will try doing what you said to do with them. Thanks.

the fungus bass!
That is probably the uglyest bass I have seen in my life(yes even uglyer than the one in the general bass fishing section posted a week or so ago that had no top lip). I have never seen anything like that before ever. If I were you I would have kept that bass to make sure the disease of fungus from that fish doesent spread to other fish in the lake.

Learning to fish Rapalas
I use rapalas all the time and right now they are working realy well. All I use are the original floater and the jointed floater. THe way I work them is I just jerk them in. Sometimes I do fast jerks other times I jerk the lure then wait for it to surface then jerk it again. I do pretty quick hard jerks as well. Thismorning I went out fishing for about two hours useing only one spinning rod and a mid size rapala original floater in the black and silver colors. I caught 5 largemouth bass. 4 of the 5 fish were dinks though that were under a pound. The other fish was probaby close to two pounds. Rapalas will always catch you fish but you will often get many small fish when throwing them.
