The Official 'Post What You Got For Christmas' Thread
My wife and kids got me a 7'2 carrot stick with a shimano cruxial and a assorted box of cranks ( some megabass) jigs and spinners. As an early Christmas present I got a 17 ft bass tracker a few weeks ago. My parents got me a shaw grigsby casting combo a zoom u tail worm kit, some spot removers and a tackle box. This was an outstanding Christmas for me I was truly overwhelmed. Jeremy

aluminum hole repair?
Ok I have rewired and have the electrical system on my new boat working great. Now that I have done this I have a question? There are a few pin hole size holes on the hull of the boat ( 1996 bass tracker) They are by the transom straps and I believe they are due to improper grounding during charging . They are really small holes and I was wondering if pig putty or jb weld would be better until I could afford to have the holes repaired professionally. Thanks in advance Jeremy

Lake Gaston
Sam, The guy I am going with said somewhere near the Americamp? This is my first trip to Gaston and I am getting excited. I have fished Kerr a few times but I am hearing more and more that Gaston blows Kerr out of water. ( No pun intended) .

Got an early Christmas present.
Thanks for all of the nice words. I know this boat isn't a new skeeter, but to me it is. I think the wiring problem is the fuse block needs replacing ( right now nothing electronic other than the starter for the motor is working) and the spindle for the speed guage on the transom ( I think thats what its called) I will replace the carpet on the front deck in the spring. Right now I just want to get the boat in the water. The wife said she had to go out before the fishing buddies do. I plan on putting it in Sutton Lake here in a few weeks. If anyone has any guidance on these boats I would appreciate it.

Got an early Christmas present.
I went in to work today at 4 am when I got home at 1 I had a 1996 bass tracker pro team 17 in the yard. My wife didn't have a choice to hide it the guy needed it gone. I guess she got a really good deal on it. She paid 1200, the motor a 40 hp merc starts on the first turn, it does need some wiring work, but other than that it seems good to go. I was suprised to say the least. I will put some pics up later.

Lake Gaston
I am going to Gaston for two days next week for some fun fishing, and I am wondering where to start. This will be my first time fishing it and was wondering iif anyone had any info pertaining to what type of lures to start with, main lake or creeks, and I guess from recent patterns a general depth to start with. Thanks.

Another carolina ?
I haven't been fishing in a few months because of work and I got an invite for tommorow to finally get out and wet a line. We are going to be fishing a tidal river in eastern nc. The water temps were in the 60's but the past week the highs haven't broke the 40's and we have had some snow flurries. My guess is the water temps are mid to upper 50's. My question is to what baits should I start with. I figured with the temps the way they are to start with a jerk/slash bait on one rod and a jig n craw on the the other. I would appreciate any and all input for those who have been out lately.

Marines or Army?
I am currently a Marine Corps recruiter. If you want the reserves then your job will be guaranteed down to the MOS. The reason you can guarantee jobs to reservists is that the reserve centers local to your area only have specific fields. As far as bonuses go, if you qualify and they are available then the recruiter should do all they can to get you one. If you have any specific questions that you need answered in an unbaised way then please feel free to ask me. I don't care what branch of service that you are looking at, but you need to know that the benefits are the same, pay, medical, dental, education. If you want to go into the reserves then ask your recruiter about the PLC program. This will pay for your college while you serve in the reserves and you can make the big bucks as an Officer when you complete college.

Call of Duty 4
I am fortunate enough to own both systems (thank god for kids) COD4 is an awesome game, much better on the 360 , but the online is just so much better than the campaign if you can handle the online smack talk from 12yo ;D without losing it. I have recently rented the new Gran Turismo Prologue for PS3 and it is awesome until you get to the B class races and have to pass 16 cars with a "honda" integra that has about as much hp as a pinto. I am frustrated as heck now. I was going to rent the new SOCOM but I had to make a choice between the two.

Absolutley Amazing
Could you imagine the type of detail this guy could do in a lure?

Every music video ever made. Ever.
Awesome, thanks for the link.

local gas costs

Bout That Time..
Unless we actually have a winter this year I should be able to fish until late Dec or Jan other than that I plan on looking for a good inexpensive, small pond and creek (jon) boat to start getting ready for what few days I have to fish next year.

wolverine boots...
Red, I have owned two pairs of wolverines, and I still have both pairs and am able to still wear them comfortably today. The first pair was a Christmas gift from my mom and dad 8 years ago. The second pair I bought about 5 years ago. Now I don't wear these boots everyday for work but I have worn them on average about 1-2 times a week. I mainly wear them for yard work and hunting. Great boots in my opinion and at a great price.

2008 BR Fantasy Football
Gents, Due to the fact that we had 7 byes each I took it upon myself to call espn and get it fixed. Some of the 2nd week matchups may be different now, but none of us have any byes. If you are upset by this I greatly apologize, but seeing that none of us have any money involved and that we can all play I figured that it would be ok. Good luck to all. I hope that we can all come together and have a great time this year. That being said , everyone has a matchup tommorow, check your team....

How have you progressed this year?
The past year has been great for me, last year I had a hard time catching fsh at all. This year 1. Gained a true confidence bait ( spot remover with a junebug colored finesse worm.) 2. Caught my PB 5.5 pds 3. Caught over 50 bass on a shad rap 4. Learned to fish a BC and caught many fish on it. 5. Caught over 100 bass on a spinner bait. Before this year I had a BC, but mainly fished a spinning reel due to my lack of confidence. Now I rarely pick up a spinning reel. I am overall very pleased with my forward momentum this year with bass fishing. I owe a lot to this web site for that. Next year I want to learn swim baits.

Help with new puter
I use Avast and have not had any problems, its free and you only need to update your info once a year. It has a background scan and regular updates as needed. It was recommended to me from a guy who runs a saltwater fishing site. As Glenn said use adaware and a spy bot or you will be sorry!

Mark Davis Pro Challenge was a great game, I bought Rapala for the 360 and I think it sucks, there is a new one coming out this fall though and I think I may check it out.
