  1. I have never had any problems with it, thats with fresh water and toothy saltwater fish.
  2. Found this link that shows aeiral video of some of the major lakes in NC a lot more are coming. This is supposed to be up to date. Not sure how often it is updated, but it shows some neat stuff. http://www.lakeskymap.com/
  3. These are some great gadgets to have in sitiuations where other chargers won't work. I will say that in my experience with them though, you need to make sure the batteries are good. When they get low its like my phone is charging the charger. ;D
  4. Thanks for all of the replies. I know it might sound stupid, but the lighter was keeping the line from getting frayed and it is a royal pain trying to thread that stuff into an 1/8 oz jig head. I didn't know if a leader would be a better answer. I have tried the diagonal cutters, but they sucked. I guess I will try a plain ole pair of school scissors. Once again thanks.
  5. Are there any differences in the way these baits perform or is it just color types. I saw some today while I was out at wally world and was wondering. I think I am going to pick some up and wanted some opinions.
  6. These deer were young, I think they just dropped their spots. I think what baffled me the most with it was the fact that they were doing everything a deer would do while I am hunting ( drop their heads and raise it really quick to catch me moving) I would move and they would come closer like they were trying to figure out what I was. I can honestly say that this is the closest I have ever been to deer just running around doing everyday things. I came inside and told my wife, we got the camera and went back out and they were gone.
  7. I think that just goes to show, no matter how much "control" you put on firearms, the people who just don't need to have them will find a way. :'(
  8. What do you guys do, I usually take a lighter with me, burn the lure off and change. Do you guys use leaders with swivels or just take cutters. Its a real pain using jig heads. I love fishing braid, it lasts longer and IMHO is a better solution to mono, I usually use berk pow pro.
  9. I just went out to take the trash to the road. As I step out I hear a rustle. Oh two doe's in my neighbors yard. I think nothing of it and take the trash to the road. As I am coming back down the driveway I hear them coming back out of the woods. So I stand by my truck and they walk back out. I am standing about 30-40ft away from them and we just seem to stare at each other for about 5 min. Well I have had enough of standing still so I move around to try and spook them off. Funny thing is they start to come closer. The one doe comes about 10ft away from me so I blow and stomp to get her to move back and she ***** her head to the side and looks at me like I am crazy. I bet I just spent 30 min outside with these two deer. I haven't hunted my back yard in 2 years and there are a lot of deer. I think I am going to put out a corn pile and a trail camera and try and post some pics of them. I don't think I can shoot the deer in my yard anymore after this encounter it was awesome and I thought I would share.
  10. I always grew up calling a seagull a dumpster chicken. Nastiest things on earth, I think they enjoy flying overhead and trying to poop on you. Russ, Those pics are awesome man, that also reminds me of watching for the birds in the spring for bonito.

I cant help you with Georigia, but if you need something from NC I can give you some info. Soppin is the fine art of soaking up gravy, or molasses into a biscuit. MMMMM ;D
  12. My next door neighbor has a 96 cajun bass boat with a 140 suzuki motor on it. He recently bought it and has had problems with the motor dying on him in the water. He found out that the jets are oversized and have been choking the motor. How much would new ( proper ) jets for a MIKUNI ( brand new ) carb cost. I am guessing the jets installed on the new carb are the wrong size for the 140 motor. Neither one of us know a whole lot about motors and I am trying to get an estimate for him. I figured some of you guys are mechanics. Thanks in advance.
  13. I would like to thank everyone who took the time to answer my questions and offer advice in the past few days. I went out and picked up some rat traps and shad raps this weekend. I just got bacck from the pond for my lunch break and caught 3 bass in about 45 minutes on the sr-5 shad rap in shad color. It took me about 10 minutes playing with the bait to find out what they wanted. Although they were all dinks ( biggest about a pound) my confidence shot up and I now have a great respect for the shad rap. Once again thanks.
  14. I'm talking just a chance to get out and fish with one another, getting to know one another and maybe a bbq. Maybe after the first one and seeing what kind of turn out we have, a tournament in the spring.
  15. I ended up going with the Bill Lewis rat l trap in the bleeding shad and crawfish, I also got the shad rap in the sr-5 in the shad and bluegill. I am hoping that they will work out ok.
  16. Avid, Just worry about the electronics man, I got a 25 mm chain gun for that .50 cal. ;D
  17. Thanks for all of the advice, I went out today and picked up some rat traps and shad raps. I am going to give it a go at 0 dark 30 in the morning. Hopefully I can snag one or two, or atleast learn something new.
  18. I too was pulling for the tide, but they didn't deserve this one. It seemed like once they got the lead their defense went slack. You do have to give LSU's defense props for their showing when it mattered most.
  19. Avid, Today I was taking the kids down to the aquarium, I saw a guy with a sweet canoe rig. I think it was a (greenhoe?) that may be wrong. He had about a 7 hp motor, two seats and the whole rig fit in the back of a dakota. I got to thinking about the possibilities of that sized boat on some of these back creeks on the river here.
  20. I was wondering if some of the NC/VA members would be interested in a gathering on say Kerr/Buggs Island or Gaston. Just throwing it out there. I would be interested in meeting some members and learning from you guys.
  21. I took the kids to the aquarium in Wilmington NC today. On the way home I got the blessings from the wife to head into dicks. I picked up some rat traps and shad raps on recommendation. I also by the grace of god happened upon a few packs of fat ikas ( thank god, those things must be gold around here ). I also saw some diawa peanuts. I got one or two of these things, has anyone out there used them and had any luck? Thanks
  22. LBH, Awesome giant, what is the average size for a catch up in New England. I think we average around 600 here, until late winter when they catch all they want in a day, under sized though. My fishing crews best luck has been on the down lines about 2-5ft off the bottom, not many are caught off the top. I am not one to eat the giants, but I will take some yellowfin sashimi any day of the week.
  23. I posted earlier saying the Pats would win, I still think that will happen. If the Colts want to win this one, they will have to get good press coverage on the Pats receivers. If you give those guys 5 yards or more they will take the small yardage all day long. You have to double cover Moss, but Welker is a dang good receiver as well and if you double cover two receivers you leave the running game wide open. I think if the Colts can cover those two and still manage to put some pressure on Brady then they can win. It will definately be an offensive game, but the defenses will decide the outcome. I don't think that it will be a blowout by either side. Both teams are the class of the leauge and unless the Chargers get their total act together I think this will be the AFC playoff preview.
  24. Long Mike, I haven't received a pm
