  1. Catt,, come on now.. just how many Bass have you ever caught ???????????????? : ;D : ;D 800 a year or so ...maybe.. --- Brian has some good advice,, -- but,, Catt also know his stuff !!! -- I like a lot of dark stuff , greens,, browns,, black/ blue. But can not get a pattern figured out on what to use when.,. just have a good asst. ready !! Jeff
  2. the "Stink" you are smelling from Chompers is there G-Formula scent.. "Garlic" Thats part of the reason they work so good. Plus if you have that on your hands you will not give off Human scent on your other baits..
  3. Fire !!!!! > > > > > > > > > : > > > > > > Jeff
  4. What I have noticed is.. if they are bedding they hold titer and do not spook as easy as they do if they are just feeding in the shallows.. also,' I have an aluminum boat too,, and I have carpet in the bottom, helps a ton.. for noise..now the hooks some time get caught in it but for sound its great and worth some snagged hooks. Jeff
  5. Spinner bait,,,Craws & Chatter bait... Jeff Bass Boys baits
  6. This thread is awsome... I love the work you guys do.. There are some good tackle makers on this Board.. It gives us beginners some good Ideas too,, Jeff Bass Boys Baits
  7. I can not answer that directly.. But I fish a lot of shallow water and what I do is.... when I head to water under 10 feet. I always move in slow and always cast out way in front of the boat !! when I get to shallower water less than 5 feet if I am not carefull I will see the bass head to deep water before I can get to them.. I hate that. when We say. wow did you see that one !!! :'( as it shoots buy the boat to deeper water laughing at us all the way !!!
  8. A little off the direct subject.. I pd, $ 12.00 an inch for a replica mount from a local guy it looks very good.. just wondering about his price ??? he is only 4 miles from me so I just went there and had it done and never compared price .. is he in the ball park ? thanks Jeff
  9. Very Nice Tin... I use the same mold.. only the full size craw though.. I use it all by its self Texas ,,weedless,,3/0.. 1/8 or 1/16-bullet drag it on the bottom,, works well !!! I will try to post some I make 1 almost exact as you have .. wierd.. I like it !!!!
  10. what do you guys think of the bait he was using ???
  11. I just started making my own double tails, have not tried um yet,, kind of cold here in Michigan.. :'( I hope they will be awsome.. very similar to Yami's.. I prefer "Chompers" skirted double tail grubs, atleast before I made my own.. texas rig weedles w/ 1/16 or 1/8 bullet
  12. ohh ya,, if it happens,, 1-- biggie makes the day great.. but.. in the early spring--3-4 fish after the water temp gets up there-12- late in the fall--3-4 fish.. thats on the lakes less on the river..
  13. Brent,,, fishy ??????? :-/ I also find myself throw-in plastics all day.( well, I usually only fish mornings, hard to get a whole day on the lake ) when I know I should try a hard bait , jig or spinner or what ever...when the bite is slow on plastics.. also, I do not retie enough and it has cost me some fish.. worse than losing the fish.. I feel bad That the hook is still in the fish.. its bugs me bad to leave a hook in a fish. I try to remember to retie every -3- fish.. but I do not do that enough.. I know there is something else.. but I have not been fishing since late fall.. :'(. so I can not remember what it is..
  14. OK,,,, Just how old do you have to be, to be an Ole-Timer?????? :-/
  15. 1/2s-eez.. Hmmm..? I love the bait,, I see Ryan is suggesting to use a 5/0 hook. I like a 4/0 hook my self.. but some brands do vary in size.. and some times I open up the hook wider and that seems to be good for me. and they work in both directions.. thats kinda cool..
  16. I could never make um by hand pour to get them to be as great a deal you can get from Brent @ ***. He is correct,, it does take a lot of plastic and very time consuming. the skirts are exspensive,, I get some from Yamamoto & they have no quantity discounts at all on there items..over half the cost is in the skirts.. then I have to melt the skirt to the bait with heat 1 at a time.. after I make um,, package um & ship um.. we are not making much. for me, rite now its the fun.. I have not been making um very long.. so it's still fun.. I am sure that Brent is not making a lot per. pkg. either.. we need volume to feed the kids.. ;D -- Brent,. if things go bad,, or I get to where I can make a lot of um I will let you know.. thanks much for the offer.. I am not sure how they will sell so I am not up to taking on 2 shops at this point but I mite know in a month or so.. keep me in mind.. Jeff
  17. I would like to thank Ryan @ Handpoured worms.com his site can be found on this site ,at the very top of this page. click on "links" then go to Bass Tackle Shops and scroll to Hand poured worms .com. he has givin me my 1st shot at selling my hand poured Phat-eez.. ( fat Ika Copy ) on the internet.. He has been a great help and has an awsome site to buy baits.. check out what else he has.. bring on the warm weather !!! Jeff
  18. some colors do bleed.. I mix some stuff. but by color only.. if I have one that bleeds I keep it seperate,, some colors will not transfer so they can be mixed.. put asst. green shades together asst. browns together and so on.. you can save space.. but ,,also I keep 2 bags of each bait,, one of each type , style, color ect. in a bigger bag at home and take the smaller bag with me and fill it up as needed before going out to the lake. that way I can keep a lot of them seperated, and Then I have a lot of bags with me but they are smaller and do not take up much space.
  19. Burley,, for me it depends on how big around it is,, but usually 4/0 is pretty good,...
  20. OK Catt. got my notes out. there not as complete as yours.. but I do keep records of each trip out.. weather... location,,,date,,,,,what color worked...75% of the time I use a texas rig.. mostly worms,, but also,, Ikas,,craws,,also texas.. I also do well on top water buzz frogs..& ribbit... ok.. 43 days on the water.. 359 bass caught ---- 192 under 14" 167 over 14" none over 4# I guess you done just a tad better than I did.. wait til next year !!! :
  21. good jerkey can cost more than $ 20.00 pound in smaller pkgs.. 5# for $ 60.00 is a good buy !! oh yah.. nice fish-in stuff too. 8-)
  22. good Avice RW,, !! With that said.. if the fish have every thing to reproduce.. they will be there for ,, who knows maybe,, for ever.. if the pan fish & bass did not reproduce there then its not the place to fish. I would spend some time around the pond and just see what mite be in there.
  23. I always take my 2 boys with me.. they are a little older now.. 11 & 16...They are my best fishing buds.. My wife will hold the door for me to fish & say do not hurry back but, thats only if I have both boys with me.. I remember back when they were using a bobber & worms while I was tring to cast rubber worms.. yes tring.. .The advice above is good. And correct when saying you will not be fishing much your self.. But as said .. thats ok,, after I help them out for a couple years now they both have there own tackle and even my 11 year old has been rigging his own pole with Texas rig with the hook tip still in the bait for weedless style..The youngest is still catching less bass then myself or my older boy.But each summer he gets better at his presintation with artificial bass baits.I am sure that this summer he will be setting the hook on a lot of bass... good vice,, snacks,, drinks safty vest.!!!! towells to keep hand clean sun glasses even some thing else to keep them buisy like toys or books.. so maybe you can fish a little after they lose intrest. good luck & have fun... 8-)
  24. Ok, I am going to try to post my 1st pictures ... :-? --
