New Chubby Color. !!!!!
There is a new color I have come up with for our line of baits.. *** is the 1st one to have this color... T.T. ( Texas Tech ) Black Berry... not sure what brent will call it ?? any way I fished it for the 1st time this morn.. I think the color will be a hit on certain lakes & ponds that RED works on..I only had 2 & 1/2 hours to fish and wanted to try out 3 different baits. The bite was not good..But the T.T. Black Berry did get me 2 of the 4 fish I landed.. from the shore ..no boat today. -- here in michigan the blue gills are just getting on there beds..1st of JUNE !!! is this late activity happining in your area too ? So I guess we are still in Pre Spawn.. Apx. 4 weeks back the bedding was just starting then it got very cold at nite ,, frost on the ground for about a week straight.. the fish backed off the bedding and are now just starting to get back to it.. the weather report now is showing us getting close to 80 deg. in the next few days ,so I exspect the bite will be good.. I hope !!!

1st Fat Ika fish!
I agree that you can use 4/0 & 5/0 on most all baits.. including 5" sticks.. They do not work on 3 & 4" hulla grubs.. but the bigger hook is needed on the Fat Ika.. I use 2 rods, one with a 4/0 or 5/0 & the other has a 2/0 or 3/0. that covers all baits I use..

texas rig slipping
This happens to me also when these things are going on... 1-- using very soft plastic 2-- casting hard for distance 3-- after you have got a couple good hits or caught a couple fish on the bait..

Handpoured vs. "Regular" plastics
Well,, thanks RW..

Handpoured vs. "Regular" plastics
Not sure how many sticks I could make in 4 hours,, ??? I like Brents Sticks ,, . I can get lams.. swirls & tails much easier,,, but it would take me 200--250 hours to make 10,000 Fat IK@$%^,, Type baits.. :'(

Handpoured vs. "Regular" plastics
Catt has a very good point about less plastic for the hook to penitrate... Now with these *.. Make sure you use a very large hook, EWG,, 4/0..5/0.... I would use the 5/0 if its not to long. The Gamakatsu hooks I have,, 5/0,, fit the Waynes just perfect.. Feed the hook through at either end just a 1/4 " down the bait or less,, then feed it back through the other end way at the bottom where the bait narrows..This narrow part of the bait allows the hook gap to open up farther when you get a hit,,The bait is fat in the center and takes up a lot of the hooks gap.. so keep it to the end of these baits where its narrow.. Now having these softer also helps the bait to sqwish when you set the hook that helps open up the gap too,, Now thats where the softness of the hand pours comes in handy..

Handpoured vs. "Regular" plastics
you are correct,, it does not have a flat side.. A lot of the hand poured baits are now hand poured into 2 pc. Aluminum molds,, just like the injected,,the * are hand poured into these 2 pc. alum. molds.. ------ 1st off,, the * will be a bit softer than Brents other baits,, 2nd ,,,, the salt content may be a little higher.. (but Brents *** do have salt added),, 3rd.. the scent is mixed rite in the plastic on these.. most injected baits have scent on the out side only.. the skirts are heat sealed to the body by hand 1 at a time..Some companies glue the skirts on..The heat seal holds much better... I hope this answers your questions for the most part,,, Brent will be on shortly,, I think ? : he usually is !!! not sure what he mite be up to,,????? I see this bait has his mind deep in the gutter !!!

Handpoured vs. "Regular" plastics
Bass Pro does carry ,,,, a hand pour by ...Poor Boys ( lure Craft ) not sure if they have any more hand pours,, I believe I mite have seen a couple others ?? -------------------- this thread has some good info,, I pour my own.. and the hand pours are awsome.. but I also have caught many fish on injected baits... color and presintation are just as important as ,, how they are made ..

Yamamoto Kreature
all of the above.... any way you can rig it ,, try it... also I just got a pack of these and they are very hard,, I figured them to be softer I guess, because Yamis are usually soft.. but I have not tried all his baits,,. (watermellon black,,) did you notice that the Kreatures you got were hard??

GYCB Fat Ika
I love um...... use a big hook.. 4/0,, 5/0.. EWG.... rig either direction.,. I have been out there when 1 way worked & the other did not.. always try rigging both ways.. fish um slow.. across the bottom.. mix up the retrieve,, hang on to the rod !!!

Craw experiment part 1
I pour some of my own craws, and the claws come off very easy. some times on the 1st fish 1 claw will be gone.. I still use the craw with 1 claw and they work well.. after 3-4 fish both claws are usually gone. But I guess I have never tested out to see what way works best.. I think the craw with both claws is slightly better. The molds are resin, so this winter I used a blade to cut out some more of the mold where the claw hooks to the body now that area is much thicker plastic so I am hoping the claws stay on longer .should be finding out very soon. Its getting warmer here in Michigan..

early season fishing
Today, my 2nd day out for bass here in Michigan.. 1st day was yesterday, same place but yesterday there was still ice on about 20% of the water. I caught -0-. today... ice was gone and I worked a shad rap ( crank type bait ) from the bank where I could see a drop off.. Caught 4 fish..in about 20 minutes.. one was 3# 2 oz.. the crank bait was on when the sun was out. as soon as the sun went away, I never had a nother bite ? tried for about another hour with Soft plastics and the same shad rap. noth-in.. but that 20 minutes was so awsome,, after a long winter.. ready to fish.. !!!!

Jitter Bug
Yes, Arbogast invented the jitter bug.. I thought they were Heddon Now? not sure..? anyway, a friend wants one.. he tells me. that the black one is his Fav.. not jointed.. and he has them and can find more black ones,, but he also says that when the moon is bright he has better luck on the glow in the dark one.. but lost the one he had.. and he has had it a while and now can not find one.. he also says.. Only buy the original,, the hooks & the blade are screwed in.. He say that he can bend the blade on the original to get the perfect sound he likes .. never used um to much my self.. I know the bass bite at nite ,, but The couple times I tried it from the boat.. We used a small light and all we got was every bug on the lake was on our light like you know what..!! so have not done it much.. I am sure there are better ways to fish at nite but I do not know what they are ?
