Soft Plastic Swimbaits??

Featured Replies

I am looking at getting some soft plastic swimbaits for when i go to florida..from your experience which soft plastic swimbait is the best and what size??

thanks. :)

I love skinny dippers. they're the only ones I've tried and see no reason to try any others, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

* jaw-jack swimbaits are fantastic.  Fish it with a #6, 3/16oz, or 1/4oz, gamakatsu superline spring lock hook.  Always done the trick for me.  It's what I caught the fish in my AV with.

x2 on the dippers!

I like the roboworm soft swimbaits with a 6/0 owner weighted beast hooks. Action on these things are amazing.

My most productive soft swimbaits (right now in Florida) are the Luck "E" Strike Bass Magic (5.5" moccasin)

and Basstrix Paddletail (6" perch). My wife's favorite soft swimbait is the Berkley Hollow Belly (5.0" gizzard shad).

She's been doing great with that lure. Another soft swimbait I like, but do not recommend

is the Huddleston Weedless Trout5 (6 Holdover). The bass whack it to death (even little bass),

but the weedless slot gets beat up much too quickly for a $17 lure. The other swimbaits are far cheaper.

Swimbaits have been working well in Florida for the past three months (since mid-September),

but they work best by far when bass are heard busting on top (chasing shad)

Berkley Hollow Belly are awesome. I got a pack in every color. The pearl white is my go to color. I would like to try something different because these are expensive. 3 for 10 $.

I just tried the soft plastic Sebile Magic Swimmers. They did pretty well on their first outing. They have great colors and action.

RW, you need to try the Reaction Innovations Skinny Dippers. When the situation calls for something like a solid bodied, skinny/small profile paddletail, they are money!

well said dan.

where in florida are you gonna fish? i have been using skinny dippers all year with great success. lake okeechobee, lox, lake ida, istokpoga, kissimmee chain skinny dippers work. i agree with rw though, the swim senko is a good one as well.

The two best I've tried so far are the Skinny Dippers and the Pro Swimbaits hollow belly.

Speaking of swimbaits and Florida.

Lois caught this girl just today (Nov 22) on a Berkley Hollow-Belly Swimbait (5.5" tennessee shad)

I boated a couple bass today on the Basstrix Paddletail Swimbait,

but the Hollow Belly did the best of the three swimbaits today (i.e. hollow belly - basstrix - bass magic).

That's it....I'm movin to FLA... ;D

Nice bass...your Mom gets a big congratz.. :)

Apparently I am the only one here, but IMHO I like the Castaic Swimbaits the best. They have an assortment of selections such as boottails, and other kinds of swimbaits. Again this is just MHO. I personally really like their Hard Head Originals, been using them since 98 and have never gone wrong with them.

P.S. By the way, I am in no way affiliated with Castaic, I just want to see them catch on so I don't have to order them offline anymore and I can go to Bass Pro to get em.

Try the Netbait BK swimbait.  You might be surprised.

For smaller plastic 6" swimbaits, the Huddelson works best for me, I have an assortment of Castaic, and others, the hud is my goto swimbait..The weedless version kicks a$$... ;)

Lake Fork Live Magic Shads.

X2  ;)

I've only tried two. Luck"E"Strike Bass Magic 4 1/2" in Green Shiner, and 4 1/2" Strike King Shadilicious in AYU, and Chartreuse Shad. Both brands put ALOT of fish in my boat.

I used a 7/0, 3/8 oz, Stanley Swimbait/Frog hook, with a #6 treble for a stinger hook.
