Beast of a fish. Whats up with the tape measure? Anyone know of this catch and where it came from?

Duh...metrics. Stupid American I am. I think that calculates to a 27-28" fish?

That is a big fish. Judging by the eyes i am guessing an old one too. I am also guessing in the 27"-28" range as well.

Not so sure if I like the fish or not, but the rod and reel combo look sweet!

That fish was caught by Manabu Kurita out of Biwa Lake in Japan. The tape measure is metric so its in meters i believe. Theres actually an article about this catch in the latest issue of Bass Angler Magazine. It was caught on a Roman Made swimbait called "the mother."

Can't be meters cause that would equate to 21 feet. That would be a big fish! It's probably decimeters. 7 dm= about 28"

That's the world record bass caught in japan, its weight 22 pounds 5oz i beleive, and it is tied for the world record with a 22 pound 4oz bass...The reason they are tied is because any world record( i think state too) must be atleast 2 oz more than the previous record...

The Kurita WR bass was caught on a live bluegill. Kurita is sponsored by Roman lures and the mother was featured in a few articles.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Kurita caught the PREVIOUS Japanese record bass on a roman made?? I think it was 18 pounds.

All I know is this...That fish is a world record, I beleive its weight was 22 pounds 5oz but ties the 22 pound 4oz record because it must beat the record by 2oz or more... Also WRB is correct, I also thought it was cought on a live bluegill.

I've heard tell of other strange and relatively shady practices that this fella has employed... That being said, anyone that is catching multiple fish over 18 pounds is doing something right

Yeah I heard it was possibly caught in an area that was off limits to fishing. Knowing a fish like that was lurking around could test anyones morals I suppose . World record fish, especially one as highly sought after as the world record largemouth is always going to be crawling with rumors and doubters.

I've heard that, also heard about him doing a feeding program, getting them in a set schedule, odd but at the time I remember it being from a relatively legitimate source, an interview I think.

Either way, the fellas caught and laid hands on fish I can only dream about. More power to em.

Yes Sir. That is my fish. I caught it this past summer on a ...yeah, a senko...That's right. I didn't post pics before because I didn't want to make anyone feel inadequate...or at least more than you already do! :grin:
