If a settlement isn't reached by Monday Hostess says liquidation will commence. This isn't the first problem Hostess has had, they did file for bankruptcy some years ago. People don't seem to eat twinkies, ding dongs and cupcakes as they once did. Something must be wrong with their business model, there is no shortage of adolescent obesity and diabetes, in fact it's on the rise, kids are eating some kind of junk.

They can't compete because of the way the product is distributed. Rather than distribution thru route sales (i was a route salesman for Hostess close to 20 years ago), they should sell to regional or national grocery distributors. Leave the stocking and promotions to the market employees and mini mart owners. 20 years ago drivers were making 35k-50k+ bennies from the Teamsters, depending on the size of the routes. Me, I like the Honeybuns.

I do however feel bad for the 18,000 employees that lost their jobs, all because the union couldn't come to a mutual agreement. Small pay cut vs no job?

How the hell does that make sense?

No more Wonderbread, ho-ho's, ding-dongs or twinkies. How will man kind survive???

Seriously though, how thickheaded to you have to be as an employee/union member? Compromise and keep your job or go in the unemployment line......I'm sure there is no lack of demand for the people who put the filling in the twinkies. How do you even put that on a resume??? :eyebrows: 18000 people out of work

We just saw it on the news and the pregnant old lady(my wife) said it sounded good......so after two stores(4th pregnancy, real peach - she is lucky I went at all) I ended up with little Debbie Christmas Trees. There are no twinkies to be found!!!

Man I love Twinkies and Sno Balls, actually everytime I go in a shopping to McAllen I "import" ( smuggle ) the most I can into Mexico, at least a 3 month supply and my kids are forbidden to even look at them. Darn sad !

From the picket lines to the unemployment lines. Just sad!

I have 2 new in the packs Hostess Twinkies ( soon to be unavailable ) that I will sacrifice for $100.00 and that is shipped to your door.

If they dont sell soon I may have to put them on ebay.

Sorry no pictures because that may revile the location of the twinkies.

First "I'll take it " gets them.

Sorry no trades at this time.

The Hostess plant here in Denver closed today. 160 people out of a job. I'd rather take a pay cut and look for another job than be unemployed and need to find another job. Unemployment will be considerably less than the pay cut and their aren't any medical or other benefits when you're collecting unemployment.

I do feel bad for anyone that no longer is employed by Hostess. Had Hostess been more profitable they would have most likely met the demands of their workers, so the decision out of biz today or a year or 2 from now.

I personally will not miss any of their products, haven't had one in 40 or 50 years, not much into processed foods of any kind, especially with sugar and white flour. Sticking hard and fast with my other vices.
